Mavis's POV

Summer

Week 3

I placed the grocery bags on the kitchen counter before taking the things out.

Just as I was about to put the milk in the fridge Ethan bursted through the door startling me.

"I just had the greatest idea!" He walked over the couch before pulling me in for a bone crushing hug.

"Oh!" I groaned. "Aren't you supposed to be at work?"

"It's my lunch break" he let me go before taking a water bottle from the fridge drinking half of it crushing the bottle as he drank.

"Ethan are you okay?" I asked staring at him.

"No I ran home" he said sitting in the couch.

"What why?" I followed him to the couch turning on the AC so he could cool down.

"I needed to tell you my idea" he sat up with a big smile on his face. "Where's Grayson?"

"At work- what's this great idea?" I asked sitting on the coffee table.

"Well I had an epiphany, just learned that word by the way, and I think I know what I'm going to do to make Raya mine" he explained.

"Go on"

"At the end of the summer you know how we always go back home and have that big end of the summer barbecue with all our families?" He asked finally catching his breath.

"...Yes?"

"I'm going to take her with us introduce her to everyone then take her to the place where we ride our four wheelers, remember that place?" He asked.

"Yes..?"

"I'm going to ask her there, there's no way she'll say no" he leaned back on the couch with a smile on his face.

"That doesn't sound like a full proof plan, we still have a lot of time until then" I said getting up, walking back over to the groceries.

"I could use the time to make her fall in love with me" he scoffed walking over to me.

"You're in love with her?" I asked a smile tugging at my lips lips.

"What!? No! No, no, no, no. No way Jose!" He freaked out avoiding eye contact with me.

"Ethan, it's okay if you are" I said sincerely. "Love is a great thing-"

"But it's also evil" he cut me off. "I will never let myself fall in love ever again"

"Ethan" I sighed.

"I gotta get back to work, Mavis" he took an apple from a bag before leaving.

Poor boy

Jeff's POV

"Daddy look at me! Look at me, dad!" I watched as Rosa went down the slide with a squeal.

I caught her at the bottom with a big hug. "My brave little girl! That was so cool!"

"It was the big slide too!" She clapped her hands in excitement. I got a notification saying that my Uber had arrived so I grabbed her bag.

"Our cars here, we have to get you back to mommy" I led her over to the car.

"I don't want to go back to mommy" she whined giving me puppy dog eyes. I was already a sucker for those.

After I visited Rachelle when I first came, I couldn't shake the feeling that this little girl was mine. So as a responsible person would I decided to stay and take care of my kid.
