Mavis's POV
"Hey you" I greeted jack as I placed a stack of files on his desk. He groaned in response as I leaned on his desk. That's odd, usually jack has a million things to tell me. "Are you okay?"
"No I'm not, Carol from the Carson city branch is here and she brought a team with her. I don't know why but the last time this happened three people in my department were fired so as much as I'd love to update you on Travis and Sarah I have to pretend to be focused" he said all in one breath before shooing me away.
I walked into the break room in search of something to drink, I hadn't noticed anyone come in. I should've known these things, in the receptionist this should be on my calendar that jack gave me. It has sexy firemen on it.
"Oh sorry" I apologized to the person I had bumped into, I looked up and gasped. "D-Dylan, what are you doing here?" I said.
"I'm here with the team from Carson, what are you doing here?" He shoved his hands in his pockets.
"I work here" I answered shortly. We stood silent for a bit, I had nothing to say to him and I'm sure he had nothing to say to me. "So, how've you been?"
"How've I been?" He mimicked my question furrowing his eyebrows.
"Y-Yeah" I said a little confused.
"I've been doing horrible, Mavis. I lost my football scholarship because of you, that slut Avalon, and your little bitch of a boyfriend Grayson" he spat. I backed up a little scared of his tone.
"I didn't do anything, neither did Avalon or Grayson. S-So don't say those things about them!" I demanded but I'm sure he wasn't fazed.
"What do you not know what he did to me?" He asked and I looked at him confused. He chuckled bitterly. "Senior year, spring break, Ethan and Grayson jumped me. Busted up my leg, doctor said I wouldn't be able to play football and I have a limp now"
I did not know that. He stepped closer to me and my palms became sweaty.
"Tell them that they got theirs coming soon and you too" he said before limping past me bumping my shoulder.
Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no! I felt the tears pooling in my eyes out of fear.
Stop it Mavis! You can't cry here!
Against my wishes the tears began falling so I went into the women's bathroom locking myself in a stall.
I took out my phone finding Grayson's number before calling him.
Grayson's POV
"Gray, your phones ringing!" Raya yelled from the smoothie bar. I excused myself from the client before jogging over to where she was.
It was Mavis.
"Hey Mavy, you okay?" She knows to only call me on my break so this must be important.
"No" she sniffled. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what?" I said softly, my heart beat quickened as I ran my hand through my hair.
"About Dylan, he's here"
"What!?" I almost yelled, what the fuck was that prick doing at Mavis's job!
"He said you and Ethan beat him and cost him his football scholarships and that you got yours coming-." Her words starting to become incoherent so I told her to stop and take a deep breath.
"Okay, now calmly tell me what happened" she continued to explain to me what happened only moments ago.
I could feel my blood boiling once I knew what he had said. That day at the hospital when Mavis told me that Dylan had Jeff jumped I thought it only fair to jump him, break a couple of his ribs.
But I hit him harder in important places to scare him because he saw something he wasn't supposed to see. Something that could ruin my life, and if he's back that secret could resurface and that could not happen.
