Ethan's POV

I sat at the table in the restaurant bouncing my leg up and down, as I fiddled with a napkin.

I could feel my heart in my throat right now. Rachelle ended up being the first one to call, she said that it was urgent.

I was so nervous, how could I go all these years without knowing that I had a kid? First of all, how could Rachelle keep this vital information from me?

I heard the little bell on the door chime and I looked up to see Rachelle. I stopped fiddling with the napkin but continued bouncing my leg because it was helping with the nerves.

"Hey" she greeted as she sat in the chair across from me.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I said bluntly. I wasn't here to start a friendship with Rachelle, I just wanted answers.

"I was scared Ethan, I was eighteen and pregnant, what was I supposed to do?" She defended. "My mom had kicked me out and Olivia and I weren't exactly best friends at the time"

"You should've called me, I would've been there, you know I would've been there" I shook my head gently. "Before you cheated on me with Jeff, you knew how much I loved you. And even after I found out you knew that I still loved you"

"Yes but-"

"You even had the opportunity to tell me! That weekend, from what? Like four years ago? That I flew you out here and we went down to the pier with Mavis and Grayson. That was a perfect chance to let me know" I ran a hand through my hair with a sigh. "Five years...five whole years and not once had you thought 'hmm, maybe I should let the father of my child know about her'" I scoffed.

"I'm sorry" she said, tears pooling in her eyes. "After mom threw me out I had convinced myself that I didn't need anyone. I was set on proving that I could raise Rosa on my own" she sniffles wiping some tears. "And for awhile, I did. Rosa is my everything, I'd do anything and everything for her"

"I could've been there for you Rachelle, you didn't have to be alone." I said softly and she just cried gently. "So..she's really mine, huh?" I looked up at Rachelle and she nodded.

"I want to meet her, officially" I said softly. "But after that, we're taking a test"

Her shot up and I could see a glimmer of fear in her eyes.

"What? You're sure she's mine right? You should have nothing to worry about." I challenged.

"Y-Yeah, totally" she licked her lips, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "You want to order something or...?"

I looked at the time on my phone and inwardly groaned, I was supposed to meet Raya half an hour ago.

"I actually have to go, but I'll call you when I'm ready to meet her"

Mavis's POV

I stepped off of the elevator slipping my shoes off with a sigh, heels hurt like a bitch.

I couldn't wait to get into my apartment and have a nice bath. Mr.Ryder was making me work hard, I was running around doing all his bidding. I think I sat down a total of three times today and one of those times was to pee.

I was walking down the hall when Emma came out of her apartment catching me by surprise.

"Hi" I said softly.

"Oh, Mavis, Hey" she said awkwardly.

I stepped to the side so she could pass and she began walking, so did I.

"Actually" She said making me stop and turn around. "James is hosting a dinner this weekend, him and Kevin have finally made it official. So it's a celebratory thing" she rambled.

"I'll see if Grayson wants to go" I nodded with a smile.

"Great, it's Saturday around nine" she smiled before walking off.

Is it bad that I didn't want to go? That I just wanted her to disappear from our lives?

I unlocked the door to the apartment dropping my shoes by the door. I unbuttoned my shirt as I walked to the bedroom taking it off, leaving me in my black tank top.

As I was taking off my dress pants my phone rung. I looked at the screen and almost jumped on it when I saw that it was Jeff.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey May"

"Hey what's going on?" I asked happily. "Everything good? Do you want to talk?"

"No, I actually called to see if you could give me Raya's number"

"What? Why?" I forced a chuckle.

"I can't explain right now, just please send me her number"

"No" I stood my ground. "I won't until you tell me what's going on right now"

"Mavis, I really need her number" I could hear him become exasperated.

"Why? You've been acting weird ever since you came to visit, just tell me what's bothering you so much" I demanded.

"Forget it" he scoffed before hanging up. I glared at my phone in disbelief, what was his problem?
