Mavis' POV

I stared at my reflection in every store window I passed by. It felt so weird having shorter hair but it also felt very refreshing.

I went and got it professionally cut as a mini birthday gift to myself.

"Mavis?" I heard a voice from behind me, I turned to find Katy.

"Katy, hey" shoot! I was so busted.

"I covered your shift for you thinking you were sick and you're getting a fucking hair cut" she asked walking up to me.

I was about to say how sorry I was but she touched my hair telling me how great it looked.

"I didn't mind, I mean it is your birthday right?" She asked and I nodded.

"What are you doing today?" She asked, we moved to the side so the river of people could continue to flow uninterrupted.

"Nothing, this was kinda all I had planned" I said motioning to my hair.

"It's your birthday though, how old are you now?" She held the strap of her bag.

"Twenty-four" I shrugged, I never really liked making a big deal about my birthday seeing as how that's the day my mom died. We never really celebrated it when I was kid, dad was drunk out of his mind and Stacy was no where to be seen.

"You're so old" she joked and I forced a chuckle. "We have to go do something"

"No, I don't really want to-"

"You owe it to me Mavis" she said placing her hands on my shoulders. "I had to scrub those dirty tables for you"

"Fine, but I'm not staying out late"

"We'll see about that" she smiled before we began walking again.

Jeff's POV

"You're not even watching!" Jace snatched my phone from my hand.

"I told you I'm not watching this" I almost groaned he was forcing me to watch Riverdale but I couldn't fucking do it it was such a cringey show.

"Come on, you'll love it. You could even be Archie Andrews if you wanted to" he leaned against my chest.

I scoffed. "Me? An actor? As if"

"You've seen clueless?" He asked raising a brow.

"Yeah like a hundred times it's Mavis's favorite movie" Mavis, shes been texting me all day but I've yet to answer. The anger has faded away and I just feel really bad for leaving her all alone on her birthday.

Fuck it, I'm gonna go spend the rest of her birthday with her.

"I think I'm gonna go see her" I said to him.
