How to protect yourself from vampires:
Step One - Buy a cross or crucifix and wear it at all times, keeping it visible to everyone.
"This town SUCKS" a petit girl with long black hair huffed as she threw her purse down onto the dark wooden table in a humble café her friend was waiting for her in. The friend chuckled lightly, "we haven't seen each other in person for like 5 months and that is all you have to say, the town sucks?" a taller woman with light orange hair and an Australian accent replied in jest. The black haired girl laughed and shook her head, "I'm sorry Chaeng!" she wrapped her arms tightly around the younger, taller woman and embraced her warmly, "of course it is great to see you". Chaeyoung giggled, "great to see you too Jen, I've missed you". Jennie placed her baby blue hoodie across the back of the padded wooden chair and sat down at the table, only a long sleeved white shirt and grey sweat pants protecting her from the Autumn wind blowing threw half opened window. Chaeyoung was dressed far more sensibly in a large cream coloured woollen sweater and blue jeans with a thick material, but then the Australian had been living here a little longer than Jennie who had just moved here yesterday, 5 months longer to be exact. "So anyway" Jennie continued, "this town sucks, I have only been here for a day and am pretty sure I've driven through the entire town already and seen everything. They only have one shopping mall and it's tiny compared to the ones in California". "Glad to see you have your priorities in order" the Australian joked, "just remember, we won't be here long".
Yes-Seong is a very small and remote town bordering North Korea, miles away from any big cities or places of interest and not a town that receives many visitors for two main reasons. Number one, as mentioned previously it is a small town with nothing about it that would interest anyone enough to visit, in fact it is so unremarkable despite being a very old town that many people don't even know it exists. The second reason the town scarcely receives visitors is due to its abnormally high mortality rate amongst its citizens and a missing persons list bigger than any town of its size should have. People die in this town, a lot, or they suddenly disappear without a trace but nobody talks about it, they carry on their day to day lives with fake smiles painted on their faces pretending as though they don't live out every waking moment in fear. The town was named Yes Seong (Old Castle) after the ancient and mysterious castle that sits in the centre of a mass graveyard, said to be thousands of years old. However most locals had a nickname for this strange town of theirs, Jiog-ui Teog, which roughly translates as Jaws of Hell. But as Chaeyoung had said, they wouldn't be here long.
Because Jennie has a secret.
"When do you start work?" Chaeyoung asked, rubbing her hands together to keep them warm as the two friends walked through the street, the fallen Autumn leaves carpeting the path beneath their feet, the sun long since hidden by dark clouds and early nightfall. "Tonight" Jennie replied with a sigh. The Australian pulled her sleeves over her cold hands in another attempt to warm them, "you don't sound too pleased about having to teach night classes". Jennie shook her head slowly the cold not bothering her at all, "certainly not my favourite thing to do after sundown, no". Chaeyoung smirked, "it's only temporary, besides you'll still have plenty of free time at weekends and the earlier hours of the morning, past midnight". "True" the older girl nodded unenthusiastically.
