Weeks had passed since Sandara had seized control of the town, with winter now in season nights became longer, snow blanketed the streets and daylight hours were far and few between. The weather acting as a metaphor for the vampire queen's rule. Missing posters decorated nearly every lamppost and wall, adults, teens, even children, girls as young as four years old disappearing without a trace. Many students attended classes in groups, staying with each other at all times, escorted both to and from school by a driver. Sadly this safety practice did not extend to every human in the town, many were still naïve and foolish, believing themselves safe simply because they had never been attacked before.
Luckily for the students of a certain private school, their English night classes were cancelled until further notice due to the absence of their tutor Jennie Kim. This shorter school day gave them a chance to get home safely. The students of this school had all become paranoid and miserable, barely uttering two words to anybody they didn't consider a close friend. The death of Bobby and disappearance of Yves had pushed them passed breaking point. They couldn't pretend anymore, nobody trusted anyone and nobody had any reason to smile. This school now looked less like a place of education and more like a prison. Grey, the whole town was grey.
Lisa tugged at her school tie with irritation as she and Jisoo walked home from school, "ugh how much longer do we need to keep attending classes, I thought it would stop now Dara unnie is mayor". Jisoo linked arms with the whining Thai as the two left fresh footprints in the snow, "it won't be for much longer, soon Sandara will prepare the clan for war against any clans stupid enough to rebel against her rule and then we will both assume our true roles within the ranks and you can finally get rid of that school uniform". Lisa smirked, "I think I'm going to be holding onto the uniform". "Why?" the elder asked. "Jennie likes it" the blonde replied with a wink. The purple haired vampire rolled her eyes and shook her head, "where is Jennie anyway? Do you have her chained up or something, the school thinks she's dead". "She's fine" the Thai responded casually as she produced a comb from her pocket and began fixing her hair. Jisoo was curious but decided not to push the subject, after all Lisa had been doing very good work lately.
"You've been staring at that screen for hours" Tiffany said as she sat down beside Rosé who was hard at work studying security camera footage from the night of Yves' death. "Look, look" the Australian said quickly as she pointed at two blurry shapes on the paused tape, "that's near the old trainyard and look at those two figures, that is definitely Jennie and the hooded guy she was chasing right? So that means she chased him for several blocks and for at least 20-30 minutes. She leaves her car near the factory and then chases after him, so even if she ran at full speed to get back to her car it would still take her at least half an hour, and then what another 20 minutes at dangerous speeds to get to the carnival?". Tiffany sighed, "Chaeng...". "Please unnie just listen" Rosé protested, "the coroners think Yves was murdered between 9pm-11pm, most of that time we can clearly see Jennie is nowhere near the carnival, it is very unlikely that Jen could get back to her car and then to the carnival in time to actually kill Yves, she would literally of had to drive as fast as she could straight to where Yves was, jump out of her car, stab her in the chest then immediately run away and go home. Where is the logic in that? The motive? That's insane. Jennie was framed by Namjoon, it is obvious!".
"It isn't obvious to the Order, Chaeyoung" the Captain replied emotionlessly, "Jennie's mental health has been an issue for a while, the mentally unstable are capable of all kinds of illogical things. And we still haven't heard from her for several weeks, later tonight the Order are going to have her murder trial, whether she's there or not". "But that isn't fair!" the Australian gasped. Tiffany sighed deeply, "Jennie only has herself to blame for all this Rosé, if she had done as she was told from the start then this wouldn't be happening right now". Tears started to form in the young slayer's eyes "unnie...Jennie might be many things but she's no murderer". "That's for the Order to decide" the elder replied bluntly.
