I arrived home around lunchtime and I just had some chicken noodle soup since my stomach is still a bit iffy about what I eat. Josh came over and he said he had a present for me.
I tried to get up from the couch, but everyone refused to let me since I'm still "not well". So I stayed there as Josh brought in a box with a bow on it. I opened it up to find a Wii with some video games! I couldn't stop thanking Josh, I gave him the tightest hug I could possibly give. He set it up for me and we played Mario Kart, then Super Smash Bros.
It was about six o'clock and Tyler went to bed early for work since he stayed with me all night. He said he's working on something big and wants to get it done soon so that "it" can start. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and told me goodnight. I fell asleep on the couch, and Josh slept on the recliner while Jenna was with Tyler.
Time skip: four days later
(They basically just sat around the house and ate food and chilled out, they didn't do anything eventful.)I woke up to the sound of Josh drumming on the coffee table in front of me.
"Good morning sleepyhead!" He said happily.
"Ugh how are you even awake right now? It's only-" I glance over at the clock.
"Oh shit, it's eleven o'clock."Josh chuckled.
"Yeah, I thought I'd let you sleep in a bit. So I bought us some subway, nothin' too fancy, that way it won't upset your stomach. And if you're feeling up to it, I have plans for us today!" He brought over a paper bag and took out the subs."Oh, thank you. And yeah, I wanna do something, I've been forced to sit for the past few days and I think some fresh air would be nice. What are we doing?"
"Well, there's an art festival going on downtown, and I was thinking we could bring our sketchbooks and doodle after walking around. How does that sound?"
"It sounds perfect Josh, thank you."
We ate the rest of our food and got ready. I stared down at the pill that I was prescribed for my mood. I'm still not used to swallowing pills again, so these past few days of taking it has been rough. But I try to not think about it so much. I grabbed my satchel, earbuds, iPod, sketchbook, and pencils. I wore some black leggings with a dark blue floral shirt and a black hoodie overtop of it just in case I got cold. I also wanted to cover up my scars.
Josh drove us downtown where there's people walking around and children playing. He parked us somewhere around the end of a street corner so that we don't start off right in the middle where it's so busy. We finally arrived at this park with a big patch of grass to sit on. I saw some really neat artists out there, some doing painting, drawing, spray paint, sculpting, there was even some musicians! It was energetic and full of life.
We sat down on the grass and shared earbuds, listening to a variety of music, from pop to alternative. I started studying this butterfly that had landed on my shoe. It was a gorgeous sky blue with black around the wings. It seemed so free, so weightless, and I was completely engulfed into this butterflies beauty as my pencil flowed over the paper.
That is, until I heard the noise I've dreaded for most of my life.
"FIRE!" Someone yelled. Josh and I turned our heads quickly to see that a small grill had caught on fire. It was nothing dangerous and it was put our quickly. But the images flashed in my mind. The smell of burning was stuck in my nose.
The fire.
It got increasingly warm in my own skin and I began to shake. My breathing hitched and was uncontrollable. I could see it. I was re-living my nightmare.
