When May opened the apartment door and let Isabella and Peter in, Isabella went straight to the couch.
"Are you good sleeping on the couch Bella?" May asked and Isabella nodded a little as Peter went straight to his room to put his stuff away. "Don't mind him, he probably just needs to relax and get the fact that you all are alive and healthy which I am certainly grateful for." May added walking over to Isabella and smiling a little at her. "Why don't you call your dad?" She suggested and Isabella nodded a little.
"Could I have some privacy while talking to him?" Isabella asked and May nodded.
"I'll go talk to Peter." May said before giving Isabella a small smile.
When May left Isabella pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed Tony's number.
"Hey kid." Tony greeted and Isabella sighed.
"Hey Tony, just wanted to let you know I'm okay and I'm staying at Peter's since you're out of town." Isabella explained as she sat on the couch.
"Wait what happened?" Tony asked.
"Have you not seen the news? There was a type of explosion at the Washington Monument and I was in the elevator when it happened and that's where the explosion was. Everyone made it out. Thanks for knowing what's going on in my life." Isabella snapped.
"Isabella, come on, don't do that." Tony argued and Isabella scoffed.
"You know, you think you're apart of this but you're not. You put me on this assignment and only help when it's convenient to you. I'll be back at the tower tomorrow after school." Isabella snapped and hung up tossing her phone on the coffee table. She looked at her phone, sick of Tony, sick of the assignment, sick of what was happening between Peter and her. She just wanted a normal life. She didn't want to be part of the Avengers anymore if it meant she had assignments like this.
May walked back into the room for a second before walking back out and dragging Peter into the room and pushing him towards her.
"Hey." Peter awkwardly said as he sat down next to her.
"Hey." Isabella whispered not looking up from her phone.
"You call Tony?" Peter asked and Isabella nodded a little. "Did you tell him I wasn't there?" He asked and Isabella rolled her eyes.
"No, I didn't. He didn't even know I almost died so no I didn't tell him you skipped the Decathlon." Isabella whispered as she moved her hands to her arms.
Peter nodded and noticed her hands move to her upper arms. He didn't really know what to do because he put them in such an awkward position. After a few seconds he got up and put in a movie, Isabella noticed his movement but didn't look up at all.
After Peter put the movie in and started it he sat back down next to Isabella, this time a little bit closer.
Isabella finally moved, she brought her knees to her chest and put her chin on her knees, looking at the tv.
"Bella...I mean Isabella, do you want to talk about it?" Peter asked as the Star Wars theme started. Isabella didn't respond but she did wipe away a tear from her cheek.
"Hey, come on, talk to me." Peter said, scooting forward and putting an arm around her shoulders.
Isabella shook her head as tears started to freely roll down her cheeks. "No one wants me. Not my real parents. Not Tony. Not even you." She whispered as she squeezed her upper arm as tight as she could.
Peter looked at her and shook his head. He slowly pulled her hands off of her upper arms to stop her from hurting herself. "What are you talking about? Of course I want you around. You're a great friend to have. Plus you know how to kick ass." Peter whispered pulling her closer to him.
Isabella shook her head and wiped away the tears. "Tony didn't even know I almost died. I thought I was at least a little important to him. My parents tossed me into a life of crime and killing before I ran away like three years ago. And now you won't even really look at me." Isabella whispered as she continued to cry.
Peter was silent for a few minutes before kneeling in front of her. "Hey, Tony is a jerk for not knowing what was going on with you. He should've been there for you. Your parents are horrible people. They didn't know how amazing their daughter was. If I couldn't look at you I wouldn't be here with you Isabella. I wouldn't be here with you trying to convince you, you mean something to me." Peter explained causing Isabella to look up at him.
Isabella's eyes were a little puffy from crying and her skin was blotchy red. She didn't say anything as Peter wiped away the tears from her face. "You mean a lot to me. Yeah we didn't meet the way I would've liked to meet you but we still met." Peter added and smiled a little.
Isabella smiled a little and nodded a little bit. "I don't want to be on an assignment anymore. I just want to be your friend." Isabella whispered and Peter nodded.
"I would like that too. So maybe next time you see Tony, tell him that. Tell him that you're not going to be on assignment, you're just going to go to school from now on." Peter suggested and Isabella smiled a little at the idea.
Isabella nodded and hugged Peter tightly. He smiled and wrapped his arms tightly around her. When they pulled away Peter got up and sat next to her again.
They watched the movie in silence but they didn't make it till the end before both of them fell asleep. At some time while watching the movie they had laid down on the couch and fallen asleep next to each other.
May came to check on them after she heard the movie ended and saw them on the couch. She was about to wake up Peter so he could sleep in his own bed but she saw that Isabella's face was still a little red from crying so she decided to leave them on the couch. She was about to leave the room and leave them to sleep but decided to take a picture of them first. They still reminded her of Ben and herself.
