The morning of the Academic Decathlon Isabella was with the rest of the group. They were waiting for Liz to do the final round and get the stragglers, Ned and Peter, down from their room and onto the bus.
Michelle and Isabella were having a conversation about the book Michelle was currently reading when Ned came down without Peter.
"Ned, where's Peter?" Isabella asked and he gave her a look.
"I don't know. He slipped out of the room last night and hasn't come back." Ned explained and Isabella's heart dropped. Whatever he didn't tell her the day before has to do with the guy who dropped him in the river. He had already tried to kill Peter, what would stop him from trying to kill him again?
After everyone lined up to get on the bus Isabella pulled Ned aside. "I know who Peter is. I know he's Spiderman. Now where is he?" She asked causing his eyes to widen.
"I honestly don't know Bella, he was supposed to be back by now." Ned said and Isabella's heart dropped even lower.
"Let me call some people and see if we can find him." Isabella said pulling out her phone.
"We pulled the tracker out of his suit. That's what we were doing when you knocked on the door yesterday. The tracker is on the lamp in the hotel." Ned sheepishly explained.
Isabella cursed as they were called to get on the bus. They got on the bus and sat together, trying to figure out how to find him, but they came up with nothing.
When they reached where it was being held they separated and Isabella went with the teacher that was supervising the trip. She wasn't paying attention to anything, just that Peter was out there somewhere, and he might be dead.
When the cheering started Isabella looked up and saw everyone hugging Michelle. She didn't even notice that they had won, and that her closest friend had won it.
As the team made their way to the Washington Monument to celebrate Isabella decided to go up with the rest of the team and hopefully forget about the fact that Peter wasn't with them.
When Isabella went through the security line she heard Ned say Peter's name. She whipped around and looked at Ned, but he didn't have much time to talk to Peter since Liz ripped the phone out of Ned's hand. Isabella glared a little at Liz and when the phone came through the x-ray Isabella picked it up.
"Peter??" Isabella said and heard the phone click, signaling the call ended. She sighed and handed the phone back to Ned as they headed to the elevator.
Almost everyone was spacing out due to the monotone tour guide when all of a sudden purple beams of light burst out of Ned's backpack causing the elevator to shut down. Everyone screamed, except Isabella who was trying to assess the situation.
No answer came to her head as the tour guide opened the hatch at the top of the elevator to maybe get some of them out of the death trap they were now in.
"Wait, we shouldn't move. Moving could cause the elevator to be less stable." Isabella said as they started to boost up the first student.
"Well this is the best idea we have, you have any other ideas?" Flash snapped at Isabella.
"You know one of these days you're going to have to respect people." Isabella mumbled to herself as she kept trying to think of a way to get out of the elevator but not cause to much movement.
Flash pushed his way in front of Isabella with the trophy.
"Flash what are you doing?" Isabella asked getting even more impatient.
"Take my trophy!" Flash called to the guard at the top. Flash was dragged up just as the elevator began to fall.
Everyone screamed, Ned, Isabella, and the guard. All of a sudden the elevator stopped falling and Spiderman was in front of them. Isabella smiled and Ned got overly excited, causing Peter to have to calm him down.
It was a few minutes before they got to the top again, and that was spent in silence. Isabella had so much to say to him but she couldn't say anything because it was Spiderman there and not just Peter.
When they reached the top everyone got out and Isabella was the last in the elevator. The floor gave out causing Isabella to free fall, causing everyone to gasp and her to start screaming. Before she could fall too far, Spiderman sent a web out and caught her outstretched hand.
Isabella looked at Peter as he pulled her up to the top again. "Thank you Peter." She whispered as he got her to the top and to safety finally.
Peter and Isabella stared at each other for a second before he went tumbling down when the piece of metal he was attached to couldn't hold his weight anymore.
"Are you really friends with Peter Parker?" Flash called down to Peter who was still falling. When he stood up Isabella slapped him on the back of the head.
"He just fell how many stories and that's what you ask him?" Isabella asked.
The ride back to Queens was quiet, Isabella couldn't wait to tear into Peter for not going to the Decathlon and almost dying, twice from what she heard from Ned. For now she had to sit quietly on the bus.
When they got back worried parents were there to greet their children and to make sure they were perfectly okay.
Peter was hugged by May while Isabella was looking for Tony or Happy or even Pepper.
No one came for her.
"Isabella!" May said and drew her into a tight hug. "I'm so glad you and Peter are okay." She added as she squeezed Isabella a little tighter.
Isabella looked at Peter and he shrugged a little before looking down, knowing she was going to be mad at him.
"I am too." Isabella said as May pulled away from the hug.
"Where are your parents?" May asked as she saw no one running to hug Isabella.
"Oh um, my mom passed away when I was born and my Dad travels a lot for work." Isabella explained and May gave her a sad look.
"You can stay the night with us. I know you're probably shaken up, I don't spend the night in an empty apartment or house." May offered and Isabella glanced at Peter before looking back at May and nodding a little bit.
"Thank you, I would appreciate that." Isabella said with a small smile on her face.
May hugged Peter one more time before heading towards the car with Peter and Isabella behind her.
"We're going to have a long talk tonight." Isabella whispered to Peter and May unlocked the car in front of them.
"I know." Peter muttered as he put his luggage and Isabella's bag in the trunk before getting in the car himself.
Isabella sighed a little bit before getting in and leaning against the seat as they started to drive back to Peter's. She watched the buildings pass by and she began to watch the people walking by.
It was good to be back in Queens.
