Natsu x wife!reader

"Morning Natsu!" Lucy greeted the pink haired boy cheerfully. "You wanna take a job with us?"

To her surprise, Natsu mumbled, "no thanks Lu," and walked off. Natsu brushed past Gray and Gajeel, ignoring them completely and sat in the corner of the guild by himself. Lucy flinched as he slammed his face on the table. Happy flew over trying to comfort his partner.

"Is something wrong with Natsu?" Lucy asked Mirajane who was working at the bar. Mira looked at the sulking pyro and frowned herself.

"He must be missing his family again," said the model.

"Do you mean Igneel?" Lucy asked.

"Oh right. I forget you and a few others are still pretty new. I mean Natsu's wife and child."

Lucy nearly fell out of her chair. "Natsu's married?! And a father?!"

"Yep! Her name's Y/n," Mira explained. "And they have a son named Ignis."

Never in a million years did Lucy think Natsu would've been mature enough to know what sex even was. The boy didn't seem to care for anything besides food or fighting, so Lucy found it hard to believe that he would be kind and nurturing enough to marry somebody. Let alone be a father.

He was destructive after all.

"I don't believe it," Lucy said more to herself.

"It's hard for everyone to, but it's like the two of them were almost meant to be," Mira said dreamily.

It had been almost six months since Natsu had seen his wife and son. Around the same time, Y/n and Natsu took jobs without realizing they both would be gone. Y/n's was safer in the capital of Crocus, so she took Ignis with her since Mira who typically babysat was busy at the time.

Natsu returned before she did and it practically killed him to be without them. Most of the time he hid it well, but as the months progressed, he began losing interest in doing some of the things he loved.

The team couldn't get him to take jobs and if they did, Natsu just stood there not helping.
Sometimes the guild wouldn't see him for a week and Happy would come asking for help dragging the pink haired male out of bed.

"Now that you mention it, lately, Natsu hasn't really been himself," Lucy said eyeing the sulking male. Happy tried offering him food but Natsu just pushed the plate off the table.

"Because they're pretty much mates, the bond they have is weaker when they're apart," Mira explained. "You're not over exaggerating to say it's physically painful for him to be apart from her."

"Do you know when Y/n-san is coming back?" Wendy asked overhearing the conversation.

"I'm not sure," Mira answered honestly. "She took an S-class quest so it's unpredictable how long Y/n will be away. But I hope so soon, because the last thing she'd want would be for Natsu to make himself sick by not eating."

"An S-Class?! But aren't those super dangerous? How could she bring a child with her?" Lucy exclaimed.

"Sometimes, S-Class jobs require you to solve complex cases or complete dungeons. Y/n's extremely brilliant so the king requested for her to solve a kidnapping case in the Capital. However long it takes for her to solve the case is however long she'll be gone."

Lucy frowned. She saw Natsu playing with the golden ring, which she never noticed until now, on his finger. He really looked pitiful.
