Y/n L/n was a bit of a free spirit.

She was a solo yin-yang mage not affiliated with any guild in particular, but wasn't any less known. Many recognized her by the black and white fox that always followed her around. It's fur was equally half of each color, so it naturally drew people's attention to its beauty.

Several guilds tried to get Y/n to join, but she moved around too much for any one in particular to snag her. If they managed to catch her, Y/n always turned them down.

However, she was on good terms with many guild members, particularly Fairy Tail. After all, her and Erza Scarlet had been in the Tower of Heaven together as kids. Losing that freedom as a child made Y/n want to stay free and see the world as much as possible.

But when she was 19, two young dragon slayer boys gained her attention and Y/n actually stayed in one place for a while longer than intended.

Y/n had been in magnolia for a few days for the annual Fantasia parade. Usually, she never stood in a place for longer than a week at a time. It would begin to make her feel confided like the Tower of Heaven did, so that was why she moved often.

While walking down the street with her fox, Ming, in tow beside her, Y/n came across an argument between what looked a teenage boy and a hotel owner. The kid seemed no older than twelve. He had spiky blond hair and dirtied clothes on.

"Please sir. Can't my friends and I just stay here for one night?" The boy begged.

"No money equals no room!"

Y/n walked up to the two placing an arm around the blond kid. He tensed, and Y/n used her magic to calm and let him know she meant no harm.

"There you are Otouto. Don't run off like that. You had me worried," Y/n said casually. She gave him a look that said do go along with it. "Did this hotel have a room available or is it full too?"

"We have space," said the hotel owner. "You just can't stay for free."

"That's not a problem." Y/n shrugged. "How much for a room?"

After settling a few things, Y/n paid for a hotel room. When she and the boy arrived, she collapsed on one of the two beds tiredly.

"Man I'm beat," Y/n sighed. "Maybe this wasn't a bad idea after all." Ming jumped on to the bed and claimed the left side as his. "What's your name kid?"

"Um Sting Eucliffe," the boy murmured. "Thank you for earlier, ma'am. You really didn't have to do that."

"It's fine. He was being an ass anyway. And call me Y/n or Onee-San if we're gonna keep up the facade."

There was then a knock of the door. Y/n sat up and answered it. There was another boy about Sting's age; he had long black hair and red eyes. Two cats, one maroon and the other green, sat on his shoulders.

"I'm looking for Sting. I was told he was staying in this room."

"Yeah..." Y/n said unsurely. "Sting, you have a visitor." She let them in; Sting was overjoyed with his friends' return. They originally had all separated to try to find a hotel, but no one would let them stay because of their lack of funds.

"Y/n-nee san got me out of a pinch and paid for us to stay here," Sting said eagerly.

"Really? Thank you," Rogue said calmly.

The two were complete opposites, like the yin and yang in Y/n's eyes. Sting was more energetic and a tad arrogant. Rogue on the other had was more quiet and reserved and somewhat mysterious.

"It's really no problem. I needed to find a place to stay anyway," Y/n said with a smile. Frosch had fallen asleep in her lap to her scratching the top of his head. "I'm leaving tomorrow, but if you guys want to stay longer, I'll pay for as long as you need."

"We couldn't ask that of you," Rogue protested.

"No. I insist."

For the rest of the evening, Y/n bonded with the dragon slayers and their exceeds. She treated them to dinner, not caring about the monstrous appetite, and even took them down to the market place and bought them some new clothing and supplies. Y/n also entertained them most of the day with stories of the adventures she had been on over the years.

Their dragon slayer magic fascinated her for she thought Natsu, Gajeel and Wendy were the only ones trained by dragons. Plus, their magic was somewhat like Y/n's magic combined.

Her magic, yin and yang, controlled aspects of light and dark. She could manipulate light and shadows and human emotions. With her magic, she could calm a person down or send them into anxiety. This made Sting and Rogue admire Y/n even more.

"Y/n-nee san, could you teach us a few things for our magic?" Sting asked. "Please please please?"

Y/n thought about it for a minute. "I don't see why the hell not. Let's drop this stuff off at the room then we'll go."

Once they did, they head to the forest just outside of magnolia. It was spacious and free of people. For a couple hours, Y/n trained each dragon slayers different techniques that best suited their magic. Before they called it a night, they had a 2v1 battle. Both Sting and Rogue had collapsed in exhaustion, so Y/n had to carry them both back to the hotel.

"Y/n-nee san... when I get older, I want you to marry me..." Sting mumbled tiredly. Y/n giggled.

"You never know if you'll meet a girl better than me," she said.

"No... you're the best!"

The shadow slayer had been quiet. Y/n thought he fell asleep, but he was wide awake scowling at his blond haired friend.

"Do you want to marry me too, Rogue?" Y/n teased. Rogue's face turned crimson. The female laughed even harder. "You two are too adorable. You'll do great in the future."

The next morning, when Sting and Rogue woke up, Y/n's bed was empty and all her things were gone. Tears rolled down Sting's cheeks. Rogue tried to fight those that tried to brim in his eyes.

"She left without saying goodbye..."

On the desk, there was a folded note.

Dear Sting and Rogue,

I'm sorry I didn't wake you when I left. You're both too cute when you sleep. Anyway, don't feel sad. I never stay in one spot long in the first place, so don't think you two did something wrong. Keep training and get strong not only to better yourself, but to be there and protect each other.

The guild life isn't for me, but maybe you can find that permanent place you call home. For me, I got more of the world to see, but the next time we cross paths, I'll tell you more stories. And then, we can have another 2v1 battle.

Who knows, maybe you'll actually be strong enough then to beat me.

Love
~Y/n-nee san

P.S. shall we make it fun and whomever wins gets my hand in marriage? Hahaha

Until our paths cross again.
