Surprised

Soph's POV

Once Joe had stopped hurling, he came out and told us all to sit down. He'd turned very pale and looked sickly and ghost - like. What was going on?

"Err...there's no easy way to say this...so I'm just gonna tell the story." Joe said, very nervously. "So, things in mine and Billie's relationship got a bit stale. We loved each other but we were just exhausted, especially after our kids. We decided to break up. I was depressed and wasn't taking it well, but then I met a girl called Roxy Simmons. I fell in love, not as much as I did with Billie, but she eased my pain and I was happy. One day, I knocked on her apartment door to find her crying. I was asking what's wrong but she wouldn't tell me. She was just crying and saying "he can't do this" or "this won't work." She then ran away, I tried to chase after her and find her but I never could. Whilst I was depressed from her, me and Billie managed to work things out. I never knew why Roxy left me like that, now I do."

"Wha?" I asked. I knew what he was trying to say, but I just couldn't process it. To say the least, I was shocked. Looking round at everyone, they were all shocked, the mouths gaping wide open.

Joe sighed, "you look a bit like me, you seem familiar, you've got the same last as me, you're my ex girlfriends daughter and you look around the right age that would mean you were conceived when we were dating. How old are you anyway?"

"What? Oh, errr...I'm...ummm...20, no, wait. I'm 21, it's my birthday today." I said unsure and still in shock.

"Oh, we'll then, happy birthday, my..beautiful daughter." He said, pride in his eyes as he started crying.

I joined him in crying when my phone started ringing. I tried to ignore it but when I saw whose name is was, I had to answer - Mike.

I sighed and picked up, "hey."

"Where the fuck are you?!" He shouted, loud enough so everyone could hear him.

"I told you, I'm at an Aerosmith concert." I replied, shaking.

"Why aren't you back yet?" He questioned, furiously.

"It only just finished, we're waiting in the queue for the train station." I lied.

"That's not fucking good enough now, is it?" He replied.

"I'm so sorry, I'll be back as soon as I can. I'm really sorry. Please..." I pleaded, knowing exactly what he was thinking.

"No, you're gonna pay, big fucking time. Oh boy are you gonna pay." He laughed, incredibly darkly.

"I'm so sorry baby. You know I love you." Of course I didn't, but I had to pretend to make him less angry. "I'm really trying to get back quicker. I am so sorry sweetie." I lied and begged.

"Thanks, but you're still gonna have to pay, bitch. Hurry the fuck home and I'll be seeing you real soon." He snarled, before hanging up.

Steven put his arm round my waist to try and comfort me, just like he did before, however this time, Joe..err...Dad..gave him a murderous glare.

Steven moved his arm away, so Amy replaced him by hugging me and rubbing my back. I looked around at everyone's faces, shock from the news and sad from the phone call.

"Chill guys! I'm fine! Come on, get back to talking!" I laughed lightly, trying to lighten the mood.

"Look..err...this may sound weird, but if you want we can take you girls back to the hotel with us, and tomorrow we can drop you (Amy) off home and we can collect all your (mine) stuff. You can then fly to LA with us. After all, we're going to the same place and I'd like to get to know my daughter." Joe asked nervously.

"Sure, I think that would be really nice!" I smiled, giggling. I thought to myself for a minute, before asking Joe, "should I call you Joe or Dad?"

"Err...I'd prefer Dad, but you can call me what you like. Well, Joe or Dad, not whatever you like." He replied.

"Dad it is then." I laughed.

The shock was starting to wear off and I felt truly happy. Before I even started my new life I'd found out who my Dad was. I mean, yeah I was surprised, but it was a happy surprise.

A very happy surprise.
