What’s up? My name is Brent Cosmos: Great and All-Powerful Superhero. I am the son of Darryl Cosmos, Furyian hero and LaKeeSha, queen of the Destructoids. Now if you’re wondering if being the son of the planet’s greatest hero and the galaxy’s greatest villain is difficult…well you’re right. I mean don’t get me wrong, there are some perks to having such powerful parents; for instance, the powers.
Being a Cosmos means I’m one of the most powerful beings on Fury. Very few normal Furyians can stand up to my kind of power, least of all villains. You see, every Cosmos has a special gift that we use to fight evil called the 4 powers. The first 3 powers are flight, super strength, and super speed. The 4th power however, is something very special, for it’s different for every Cosmos. My father’s 4th power was energy beam projection. He could fire all kinds of lasers and power beams from his hands. I used to think that was pretty cool, until I discovered my 4th power: shape shifting! That’s right I have the power to turn into anything I want. My specialty is turning into animals and monsters, but I can turn into objects too, pretty cool right?
With these powers, my goal is to be a great superhero just like my father and all of my ancestors before me. My dad trained me in using my powers for ten years before he made his great sacrifice. Now that he’s gone, the safety of Fury rests on my shoulders. With my powers, fighting evil is easy enough, but being me isn’t that simple. What I mean is, I may be a hero, but I’m not exactly Mr. Goody Two-Shoes. I can be a bit reckless, destructive, and really, really angry. In fact most people think that I’m pretty scary. All of this is because of one specific person, my mother.
Now my mother died right after she gave birth to me so I’ve never actually met her. All I really know about her is that she was one of the most powerful (and evil) beings in the galaxy. I know about the Destructoids and all of the horrible things they’ve done throughout the universe and how when they where all destroyed, my mom tried to take over Fury. It’s kind of hard to go through life knowing that one of your parents was such a horrible person. Still, in the end my mom did change for my dad, so she couldn’t have been all bad.
Since my mom was gone, that meant that I was the last Destructoid left in the entire universe. Well, half Destructoid anyway. And of course, being the son of their queen makes me the most powerful one as well. My mother had passed on all of her evil powers, skills, and traits to me. I had a super-computing brain, razor sharp teeth that could chomp through anything, metal tentacles that extend from my back that can transform into different kinds of destructive tools, natural mastery of all weapons, and many more awesomely evil abilities. I even have Destructoid antennae on my head, but I think they make me look a little too weird so I cover them with the green coonskin hat I wear. Now the thing about Destructoids is that they can’t help being evil, they’re just born that way. It’s completely natural for them. Unfortunately, this applies to half-breeds too. That means I didn’t just get the powers, I got the attitude too.
All I really want is to be a hero just like my dad, but sometimes I just can’t fight my Destructoid instincts, and to be honest, I don’t really want to. Believe it or not, my evil powers actually help me fight evil. You know when they say fight fire with fire, well why not fight evil with evil? My Destructoid powers give me the ability to think like a villain and fight just as dirty as they do. In fact I think so much like a villain, I even wear a green cloak to make me look more ominous. My instincts make me just as ruthless and cunning as any bad guy and make it much easier to beat them. I’ll even go as far as too destroy some villains, but only when I believe it’s truly necessary. Sure sometimes my evil instincts can kick in at the wrong time. Every once in a while I might be compelled to lie, or cheat, or even shoplift a candy bar…and a bag of chips…and maybe a soda, but that doesn’t make me a bad person…right?
Anyway, point is, I’m no ordinary superhero. In fact you could probably tell that just by looking at me. You see a while ago I was involved in a terrible…accident that resulted in the complete loss of my arms and legs. Now usually when I lose a body part I can just regenerate it with my powers, but that wasn’t an option for me this time. In order to go on, I had to do something a little drastic. I replaced my lost body parts with new ones. My left arm was a green monster arm with claws that can stretch to great lengths and grow to great sizes, it can even transform into different kinds of monster arms. My right arm was robotic, at least from my hand to my elbow. It has all kinds of attachments and can extend also. My right leg from the knee down is made completely of crystal and gives me the ability to create crystal constructs when I stomp on the ground. And my left leg from the knee down is made of liquid metal and can morph into all kinds of shapes.
These are called my body enhancements and, just like my Destructoid powers, I use them to help me fight evil. Now if you took a good look at me, you wouldn’t think I was a super hero, much less a Cosmos. The only thing that gives away my heroic heritage is the green lightning bolt symbol on my chest. This is called the mark of the Cosmos. Every Cosmos has one on their chest. Most Cosmos go shirtless just so people can see it. Personally, I just go shirtless because I think it makes me look cool. Still that mark means everything to me. It means that I am a Cosmos. It doesn’t matter that I have evil powers or that I look like a cheap action figure that was assembled from a toy box, I was a hero. I know that I’m not perfect. I’m only 16 and I still have a long way to go if I’m ever going to live up to my father, but I’ll do whatever it takes to protect Fury and make my dad proud.
