The Dark Lands were abuzz with activity. Wrecker and the Dark Legion had built a huge coliseum/arena-like stadium to hold his wedding. There was no ceiling or roof so when you looked up, all you could see were the sinister skies of the Dark Lands. The seats of this structure were filled to the brim with innocent Furyians that wrecker had captured. There were kings and queens, wizards, aliens, knights, and all sorts of creatures. There were even some plain regular people. They were all forced to attend this travesty because none of them had the power to stand up to the Dark Legion. They were even magically strapped to their seats so there was no escape. The wedding was about to begin.
The alter was ugly, tacky, and horrifying. It was like how a vampire would decorate a wedding. There were black roses everywhere and Wrecker was at the end of the alter waiting for his bride. The Dark Legion members were there to witness the wedding and look out for me. Primech had set up floating cameras so that the wedding would be broadcast all over Fury. Ruby and Adojo were also in attendance. They were hovering above the alter in a floating cage with bat wings, completely powerless to stop any of this. They were going to have to watch helplessly as their friend marries an evil mad man. They didn’t know what to do. Soon Ballista came walking down the alter up to Wrecker.
“Wrecker,” Ballista said. “We found one more special guest.” Ballista then made a gesture with her hand, signaling something to come to her. Chimera then came flying down to her. It was carrying a man who had been tied up with magic rope. It was Commander Stryker of the Enforcers.
“Ah, Commander Stryker,” Wrecker said pleased. “How nice of you to join us for this oh so special occasion.”
“Wrecker, you monster,” Stryker said while gritting his teeth. He was battered and bruised. Even his golden armor was dirty and dented. “Your horrible beasts they…they slayed my comrades!”
“Sorry about that,” Wrecker said. “My Wrecklings can be very picky about whom they invite to my affairs. I guess your friends just didn’t make the cut.” Wrecker smiled evilly. Stryker’s face was a look of pure rage. He struggled to get out of the ropes so that he could attack Wrecker, but it was no use.
“I found this on him,” Primech said as he held out what looked like some kind of communication device. He then crushed it in his mighty gorilla hand. “Now we won’t be calling anymore enforcers for backup.”
“That’s nice work,” Wrecker said.
“You’ll never get away with this Wrecker!” Stryker said.
“Oh really?” Wrecker replied. “Then tell me commander, who’s going to stop me?”
“Cosmos will!” Stryker said. “I know he’s beaten you before!” Wrecker laughed at Stryker’s remark.
“Oh please,” Wrecker said. “You and I both know that you don’t even like Cosmos. You think he’s more evil than good; that he can’t live up to his father; that he’ll never be a true hero. You’ve never trusted him. The only reason you’re even thinking of him now is because you’re scared and you know that he’s your only hope.”
Stryker remained silent and hung his head. He couldn’t refute what Wrecker was saying. He never did like me much, but he couldn’t deny that I was the only one who’s ever beaten Wrecker before. If I didn’t come through, it would be all over.
“Well I intend to put out that little light of hope once and for all!”
“What!?” Stryker said with concern.
“Hey you should be glad,” Wrecker said. “Once I take care of Cosmos, he’ll be out of both our lives for good.” Stryker was silent for a moment.
“What are you going to do to all of these innocent people?” Stryker asked.
“Whatever I feel like of course,” Wrecker said. “Mutate them, turn them into cyborgs, transform them into Wreckling slaves, take over all of their homes, it doesn’t matter. After Misty is my bride and Cosmos is gone, all of Fury will be mine for the taking!” Stryker didn’t say a word. There wasn’t much he could say, or do for that matter. “Now why don’t you take your place right here? I want you to see this up close!” Wrecker placed Stryker on the alter right next to him. “Alright, we’re ready!” Wrecker gestured to the goblin organist. The organist cracked it’s knuckles and began playing “Here Comes the Bride.” As he played, everyone in the stadium turned there heads to see the blushing bride, Misty, walking up to the alter.
Misty was wearing a black wedding dress with eye shadow to match. She was holding a bouquet made of blood blossoms. Despite that fact that she was about to get married to the person she hated the most in the world, she looked sincerely happy. She was still under the curse of Wrecker’s ring. As she walked, all the men watching in the stands hooted and hollered like animals. For a minute, it was like they had completely forgotten that they were all hostages. The women however, were not amused.
“Oh no! This is terrible!” Ruby said as she and Adojo watched helplessly from their bat cage.
“I know,” Adojo replied. “Black so isn’t her color!” Ruby gave Adojo an irritated look. “What?”
“Adojo!” Ruby said. “Our friend is about to spend the rest of her life being madly in love with a violent, homicidal, maniac!”
“Umm…Ruby…” Adojo said.
“Oh, that’s not nice Adojo!” Ruby said. “Brent isn’t homicidal.” Misty then approached the alter and stood next to Wrecker.
“You look beautiful my dear!” Wrecker said with total sincerity.
“Thank you my love,” Misty replied. A goblin in a robe then stood in front of them, opened a book, and began to speak. His words echoed through the stadium so that everyone could hear. And thanks to Primech’s cameras the whole world could see what was about to transpire.
“Dearly beloved,” the troll said. “We are gathered here today to join Princess Misty Enchantra and…Wrecker, in holy matrimony. Wrecker, do you take Misty to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do!” Wrecker said with an evil smile.
“Misty, do you take Wrecker to be your awfully wedded husband?”
“I do!” Misty said without hesitation. The entire stadium let out a huge gasp after she said that.
“NO!” Ruby and Adojo said.
“If there is anyone here who objects to this union, speak now or forever hold your piece.” If the most evil villains in the world weren’t holding them hostage, you can bet that everyone in the stadium would’ve objected. Ruby and Adojo were about to speak, but Ballista blasted their cage with blue lightning and stopped them. The goblin of the peace continued.
“Then by the power vested in me by the united worlds of Fury, I know pronounce you-,”
“I OBJECT!!!” a thunderous voice interrupted. Everyone in the stadium looked up to see what looked like a green meteorite rocketing down. It slammed down right in the middle of the stadium causing a huge collision that shook the ground causing smoke to rise. When the smoke cleared, there standing in front of the alter ready to get down to business, was me.
“Brent!” Ruby and Adojo said.
“Cosmos!” Stryker said surprised.
“Cosmos!” Wrecker said with a sinister grin.
“HOORAY! IT’S BRENT COSMOS! WE’RE SAVED!!!” the crowd cheered. Just then my eyes turned red. I extended my tentacles and raised myself up. I then extended my monster arm claws and my robotic arm claws. I let out a huge hiss that seemed to make lightning crash in the sky. “OH NO! IT’S BRENT COSMOS! WE’RE DOOMED!!!” the crowd yelled. Soon my eyes met Wrecker’s.
“Well Cosmos,” Wrecker shouted. “You had me worried there for a minute. I thought you weren’t going to show up. But I’m so glad you made it! This wedding just wouldn’t be very meaningful if you weren’t here, so that I could finally have the satisfaction of crushing you!” Without saying a word, I jumped high in the air. I was about to come down on Wrecker, but Ballista blasted me with lighting before I could get to him. I was sent flying backwards and fell of the ground. Wrecker grinned. He then jumped up across the stadium and landed right in front of me.
“What’s wrong Cosmos?” Wrecker said. “Nothing cute to say? No funny reality pranks?” I remained silent. I got up and looked at Wrecker. My eyes were still red with rage. Without saying anything I tried to punch Wrecker, but he caught my fist. “Ha! You’re angry enough to fight, but you’re too angry to fight well. Quite a conundrum.” Wrecker then swung me over his head and slammed me on the ground. He then blasted purple lightning out of his hands that hit me with a painful surge of energy. I screamed in agony at the pain. “This truly is the happiest day of my life.”
Wrecker then grabbed my cloak and dragged me. He then tossed me in front of him. He stuck out his arm and his hand began to glow. Then magical chains then came out of the ground and clamped on to my arms and legs. They were draining my power. He used his power to conjure up a dark magic sword and you better believe he was ready to use it. He had been waiting for this moment for years and it was finally time. Primech’s cameras zoomed in and Wrecker, being the man that he was, began to make a dramatic speech.
“People of Fury,” Wrecker said confidently. “I, Wrecker, have slayed some of the greatest heroes in the world. But there was one whom I could never seem to best. Behold! You’re greatest hero Brent Cosmos! But today, you will all watch as he is slain and all hope is crushed! Evil will reign supreme and I will finally take my place as the most powerful force on Fury and ruler of this planet! So without further ado: Goodbye, and good riddance Brent Cosmos!”
Wrecker’s sword began to ignite with purple fire. He raised it up, and with a swift motion, he stuck it right through my chest. I gasped in pain, and then my eyes went blank. Wrecker’s chains disappeared as I fell over on my back.
“Oh no!” Ruby said.
“It’s impossible!” said Adojo.
“YES!!!” Wrecker exclaimed. He was as giddy as a school girl as he marched around almost dancing with glee. He laughed hysterically at his triumph. “I have finally defeated Brent Cosmos! Fury us mine!” Bow to me fools!” The people in the stands had no choice. They all bowed their heads. The Dark Legion and Misty bowed as well. It was over. Wrecker had won.
“Wr-Wrecker!” a voice said.
“Hmm?” Wrecker said he turned around to see me standing up with his sword still through my chest.
“Wr-Wr-Wrecker! You s-s-suck!” I said.
“Still clinging to life are you?” Wrecker said. “I’d expect nothing less from you, whelp!” Wrecker marched over to me so that he could finish what he started. But then something strange happened. My head started spinning around and around like a top at super speed. My neck began to fizzle and spark. And then there was a little explosion that made my head pop right off. “What!?” Wrecker picked up my head and looked inside of my neck hole. He noticed that it was filled with wires and gears. “A robot decoy!? NO!”
Just then a huge blimp hovered above the stadium. It had long wings with propellers on them. It was moving really fast across the sky (well, fast for a blimp anyway). Piloting the vessel was none other than Mighty. Diablo was with him in the cockpit in the co-pilot’s chair. He was looking at a screen that showed Wrecker with the decoy robot.
“Wrecker took the bait!” Diablo exclaimed. “Drop the load bro!”
“Hallelujah!” Mighty said. “It’s raining Brents!” Mighty then pressed a button and a trapdoor on the bottom of the blimp opened. A whole bunch of Brents came falling out. Which one of these was the real me? That was for Wrecker to find out. The Brents all dropped into the stadium and fell on the ground right in front of Wrecker. There must have been hundreds of them.
“Evil doers!” the Brents all exclaimed in unison. “Prepare to be gruesomely lacerated! CHARGE!” Like an army going to war, the Brents ran into battle. As they charged forward, they completely trampled Wrecker like a stampede. Wrecker then blasted upwards, knocking Brents out of the way. He then started punching, kicking, and blasting the Brents, hoping one of them was the real me. However, every time he broke one apart, it just put itself back together and rejoined the fight. Wrecker was getting tired. He turned to the other members of the Dark Legion.
“Fools!” Wrecker yelled. “Get over here and help me deal with these things!”
“Yes, Wrecker!” his followers replied. They all sprung into action. Nevertheless, nothing they did seemed to faze the Brents. The Brents were not powerless either. They were strong, fast, and destructive, just like the original. They also all had weapons and blasters to help them. It was pandemonium. The people in the crowd yelled and cheered for the Brents as they fought. The Dark Legion’s morale was getting low.
“Thissss issssss impossssssible!” Slither hissed.
“Which one is real hero boy?” Carnage asked.
“I don’t know brother,” Wrath replied. “But we must keep fighting!” Ruby and Adojo watched all of this unfold from their cage.
“What’s going on?” Ruby asked.
“I think the technical term for it is diversion,” they heard a familiar voice reply. The girls turned to see Fightbot hovering by their cage with Fang hanging by his hands. “Hello ladies!” Fang said.
“Fang!” Adojo said.
“Fightbot!” Ruby added.
“That’s us!” Fightbot replied. Fang then extended his claws and sliced up the lock on the bat cage. Fightbot opened the door. “Hold still.” Fightbot raised his arm. “Dynamic Chop!” Fightbot delivered a swift karate chop to Ruby’s head making her helmet break off. With her psychic powers working again, Ruby levitated herself and Adojo down to safety.
“Much better! Thanks Fightbot!” Ruby gave her robot friend a kiss on the cheek. Fightbot blushed (or he would’ve if he wasn’t a robot).
“But what about me?” said Adojo. “Chimera chewed up my paintbrush.’
“Don’t worry,” said Fang. “I brought your spare!” Fang then held out another giant paintbrush. Adojo grabbed it and gave it a kiss.
“Alright!” Adojo exclaimed. “Thanks Fang!” Adojo then scratched Fang behind his ear. Fang began to pant while sticking his tongue out and stomping his foot.
“So what’s the plan?” Ruby asked.
“For now, let Brent do his thing and wait for the signal,” Fightbot said.
“What’s the signal?” Adojo asked.
“Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it,” Fang replied.
Meanwhile, Commander Stryker watched in amazement as the many Brents did battle with the Dark legion. He didn’t know what was happening, and he didn’t know if he should be happy or scared.
“Hello, Stryker,” he suddenly heard a voice say. Stryker turned his head and there right in front of him…was me.
“Cosmos?” Stryker said. “Is it really you?”
“In the flesh…and metal…and rubber…and crystal…well, you know what I mean.” Using my monster claw, I sliced Stryker’s magic ropes and set him free.
“Thank you,” Stryker said. I nodded. We stared at each other silently for a moment.
“Look Stryker, me and my team can handle the Dark Legion. You need to get out of here.”
“What!?” Stryker said. “But what about all of these innocent people that the Dark Legion kidnapped?”
“I’ll take care of them!” I said.
“You!?” Stryker yelled. “There are literally thousands of people here! Some of them are important Furyian rulers and diplomats! Fury would plunge into chaos if something were to happen to them!”
“I know that!” I said.
“You may be powerful Cosmos, but I doubt you can save all of these people!”
“And you can!?” I said. “You’ve got no weapons, no backup, and your armor is almost completely worn down! You’re just as helpless as anyone else here!” Stryker was quiet for a minute.
“How are you going to save them?” he asked.
“I have a plan,” I said.
“What kind of plan?”
“A good plan!”
“What does it entail?”
“Me saving everyone here!”
“How?”
“Why do you need to know the specific details of my plan!?”
“Because I don’t-,” Stryker stopped in the middle of his sentence. But I knew what he was going to say.
“You don’t what!? Trust me!?” I said. Stryker remained quiet. I let out a sigh. “Look Stryker, I know you and I have had our differences. I know you think that I’m reckless and dangerous and that I’m not as good at this hero thing as my dad was. And maybe you’re right. But I always try my best to do the right thing, no matter what it takes. These people need help and us arguing isn’t going to do any good. You and I both know that I’m the only one who can deal with Wrecker, so like it or not, you’re going to have to trust me. Do that, and I promise I will do everything in my power to get these people home safely.” Stryker stayed quiet and just stared at me for what felt like an eternity. He then let out a sigh.
“Alright Cosmos,” he finally said. “I’ll give you one chance.”
“That’s all I ask!” I said. “I then reached into my belt and pulled out a universal walkie-talkie. I tossed it to Stryker. “Once you get far enough away, use this to call more Enforcers for backup. We should have everything wrapped up by the time you get back.”
“My jet pack was damaged in battle, I’m not sure I can-,” Before Stryker could finish his sentence I spun him around and tinkered with his golden jet pack making it super high-tech and advanced. “Oh…thank you.” I nodded. “Good luck.”
“Thanks,” I said. Stryker then blasted off to get help. Wrecker noticed Stryker flying away. He then saw me approach Misty and pick her up over my shoulder.
“COSMOS!” Wrecker yelled furiously.
“Oh Wrecker darling,” Misty said as I carried her.
“Geez!” I said. “I should’ve known Wrecker would stoop so low as to resort to cursing her.” I then raised my monster arm up high and my hand began to glow blue. The ground began to rumble and shake and behind the stadium for everyone to see rose a gigantic, near mountain-sized pink wedding cake with white frosting Around the rims of the layers. I flew Misty up to the top of the cake.
“NOOO!” Wrecker yelled. His whole body glowed with a dark and evil purplish-black aura as he flew towards the cake at super speed. His face was rage incarnate.
“Wow!” I said. “Is it this easy to trap me when I get mad? Huh, oh well. Blast off!” The cake began to rumble. Then a giant rocket booster came out of the bottom of the cake. The cake then began to lift off and fly high up into the sky. Wrecker was so surprised at what was happening he stopped for a moment. Once he regained his composure, he grabbed on to the bottom lair of the cake and began climbing it. As I looked down and saw my hated nemesis scale my frosting coated trap, I laughed.
“That’s the signal!” Fightbot exclaimed as he pointed at the cake.
“The signal is a gigantic wedding cake rocket?” Ruby asked.
“That is so very…Brent,” Adojo said with a smile. From atop the cake rocket, I pulled a remote out of my belt and pushed the big red button on it. Suddenly, all the Brent decoys that were fighting the Dark Legion in the stadium stopped fighting. Their eyes glowed white and they began to speak in robotic synchronized voices.
“Sequence Initiated!” they said. “Commence Amalgamation Detonation!” Suddenly, all the Brents floated up into the air. They all began to emit a radiant white glow. Then, in a very strange turn of events, they all started to fuse together. There was a giant white flash that made everyone in the stadium shield their eyes. When they opened them, the entire stadium gasped. The Brent decoys had fused into a gigantic bomb! This bomb was so big, it took up half the stadium floor. It was round and black with four spider leg-like stands with grey wires that held it up. There was a red digital clock face on the bomb that read 00:30. The stadium was completely silent. No one dared to move.
Suddenly, a TV screen came out of the top of the bomb. It played a pre-recorded message of me.
“Attention Dork Legion!” I said. “Listen to me! This is called the Cleanser, a doomsday device of my own design. When it goes off, it will completely destroy the entire region of the Dark Lands, and you losers along with it!” The people in the stadium began to rabble in fear.
“What!” Ballista said.
“Impossible!” said Primech.
“He’sssss bluffing!” said Slither.
“Slither’s right!” said Wrath. “If he destroyed the Dark Lands, he’d just kill all of these innocent people as well!”
“Oh, and just so you know,” my message continued. “The light energy this device gives of when it explodes is specially designed to only lock on to evil forces and energy and destroy them. So even though you villains will be destroyed for good, the innocent people you’ve captured will be fine.”
“This bad!” said Carnage.
“Agreed brother,” Wrath replied.
“On that note,” I continued. “If you wish to avoid this fate, release your hostages! DO THIS OR BE DESTOYED! You have 30 seconds to decide. Thank you and have a nice day!” The screen went back into the device and the clock began to count down.
“What do we do!?” Wrath asked in a panic.
“Well we can’t release the hostages,” said Ballista. “They’re our leverage!”
“Well it’s them or ussss!” said Slither.
“Wait!” Primech said. “Even if we let the hostages go, they won’t all be able to escape the Dark Lands. We can just have the Wrecklings round up the most important leaders so that we can keep them trapped here.”
“Brilliant!” Wrath said.
“Monkey man smart!” Carnage added.
“I’m a gorilla, and thank you,” Primech said. “Alright Ballista, let them go!” Ballista raised her arms and her hands glowed green. The straps that were keeping the people trapped in their seats disappeared. They were all free. The crowd cheered with joy.
“Fools,” Ballista said. “As long as we recapture the most important pillars of Fury we can still-,”
“Bomb still counting down!” Carnage said.
“What!” Ballista said. The Dark Legion looked at the doomsday device. Sure enough, even though they had fulfilled my condition, the timer was still counting down. And time was almost up. 3, 2, 1!
KABOOOOM!
A huge pulse of purple energy spread throughout the stadium. When it finally dissipated, the Dark Legion opened their eyes and to their surprise, they were completely unharmed. They weren’t hurt at all.
“What is the meaning of this?” Ballista asked.
“I guessss thisss means he wasssss bluffing after all,” Slither hissed.
“Perfect,” said Wrath. “Cosmos’s little plan backfired. None of the hostages had a chance to get away. All we have to do is re-trap them and-,” Wrath was interrupted by the roar of Chimera’s lion head.
“What is it Chimera?” Ballista asked. Chimera roared again and pointed his head up at the stands of the stadium…, which were completely empty!
“Everyone gone!” Carnage said.
“Impossible!” said Ballista. “They couldn’t have gotten away that fast!”
“Wait a minute!” Primech said. “Of course! Curses! We’ve been had!”
“What are you talking about Primech?” Slither asked.
“Don’t you see?” said Primech. “It was a trick! That wasn’t a doomsday device! It was a Recall Bomb!”
“Recall Bomb?” Carnage said while scratching his head.
“The magical energy that bomb released warped all of our hostages back to their homes. Cosmos tricked us into releasing their magical restraints to make it work!”
“WHAT!?” The Dark Legion said completely dumbfounded.
“We’ve got to get those hostages back or else Wrecker will have our heads!” said Wrath.
“Oh I think you’ve got much bigger problems to worry about!” they heard a voice say. The Dark Legion turned around to see the six remaining Super Fighters ready for battle. “Sup!” Mighty said.
“Damn!” Primech exclaimed.
