As the other Super Fighters were engaged in head-to-head battles with the Dark Legion, Mighty and Diablo were running through the halls of the fortress searching for me and Misty.
“You sure you know where we’re going?” Diablo asked his brother.
“Of course I know,” said Mighty. “You’ve just gotta trust me.”
“Why does that not make me feel reassured?” Diablo said.
“Look, we won’t get lost as long as we use this,” Mighty then pulled out his crystal ball.
“How’s that thing going to help find our way in here?” Diablo asked.
“Like this,” as the twins came to two different hallways, Mighty held out the crystal ball. He pointed it towards the hallway to the right and the ball glowed red. He then pointed it to the hallway to the left, and the ball glowed green. “This way!” he said pointing to the left.
“Never seen anyone use a crystal ball like that before,” Diablo said slightly impressed.
“Told ya to trust me,” said Mighty. “Let’s go!” The brothers then continued down the right hallway. The long corridor seemed to go on forever, but eventually they came to a door. Mighty grabbed the handle and opened the door slowly and cautiously. The twins then poked their heads in and looked around the room.    “Look!” Mighty quietly shouted. There, at the end of the room stood the golden Misty statue.
“It’s Misty!” Diablo said. The brothers then flung the door open quickly and ran into the room towards the statue.
“Cool,” said Mighty. “Now just work your alchemy and change her back to normal.”
“Wait,” said Diablo. “Doesn’t this seem a little to weird?”
“What do you mean?” Mighty asked.
“Well I find it hard to believe that after all this trouble, the Dark Legion would be dumb enough to just leave Misty here unguarded.”
“Yeah,” said Mighty. “Now that you mention it, this does seem a little too easy.”
“Well then allow us to offer up a little challenge,” said a sinister sounding voice. Before the twins could even react, they both felt something hit them, hard. They both flew backwards across the room and slammed into the wall.
“Ughh…what was that?” Mighty moaned. They then heard a dopey laugh.
“Twins go boom!” said another voice.
“Yes brother,” the sinister voice from before said.
“I know those voices!” said Diablo as he and Mighty picked themselves up. They then heard the two voices laughing. Suddenly, out of thin air, Wrath and Carnage appeared on either sides of the Misty statue.
“Well, if it isn’t the Mystic Brothers,” said Wrath.
“Yeah,” said Mighty. “And if it isn’t the…oh that’s right, you guys don’t have a cool name to enforce your duo. Too bad.” The pair of brothers glared at each other. The Mystic Brothers and Wrath and Carnage have been fierce rivals for years. It started back when the mutants tried to take over Mystic Isle and achieve ultimate power. With my help, the Mystic Brothers were able to defeat them and they’ve hated each other ever since.
In case you haven’t noticed already, every Super Fighter has a specific Dark Legion member who they hate and vice versa. Ruby hates Slither, Fightbot hates Primech, the Mystic Brothers hate Wrath and Carnage, Adojo hates Ballista, Fang hates Chimera, and Misty and I sort of share our hatred for Wrecker. This makes it easier when it’s time to decide who fights who. Sometimes we’ll mix it up and fight different people, but we’re all pretty comfortable fighting our own arch enemies.
“What are you two doing here?” Diablo asked angrily.
“We’ve been giving the oh so important task of guarding Wrecker’s bride to be.” Wrath said with a smirk.
“We guard pretty lady,” Carnage said.
“If you idiots really think that Misty would even consider marrying Wrecker, you’re even stupider than we thought you were,” said Diablo.
“And we thought you were pretty stupid,” said Mighty.
“Oh I’m sure the princess will come around to the idea of marrying Wrecker,” said Wrath. “That is, if she wants to see Cosmos again.”
“What did you do to Brent!?” said Mighty.
“Nothing…yet,” said Wrath. “He’s just getting ready for the wedding. It’s going to be a real party. Unfortunately, the rest of you aren’t invited.”
“Yeah, so beat it!” said Carnage.
“We’re not going anywhere…without our friends,” the Mystic Brothers said in unison. They then held up their staffs and prepared to fight.
“Very well,” said Wrath. “If that’s the way you want it.”
“Twins go bye-bye!” said Carnage. He then pulled out his battle club.
    “Mystic Brothers, GO!” Mighty shouted.
    “What?” said Diablo.
“Don’t you think we should have our own battle cry?” Mighty asked.
“No, no I do not,” said Diablo.
“Killjoy,” Mighty said annoyed. They then ran towards the mutant villains together, but before they could attack Wrath pressed a button on his gauntlet and they disappeared. “What the-,” just then, Mighty felt a huge blow to the face, knocking him over.
“Mighty!” Diablo said. As he went over to help his brother, he felt something hit him hard in the stomach. Electricity then surged through his body as he fell over in pain.
“How do you like the new stealth function I added to my gauntlet?” said the unseen Wrath. “It allows me to turn myself and other things invisible.”
“You can’t see us,” said Carnage. “So we can beat you!” Mighty and Diablo then got up and ran back to the end of the room.
“Stay back!” Mighty said. He and Diablo then started blasting magic all over the room randomly, hoping to hit one of the mutants by chance. Once they were done they just stood there against the wall breathing heavily, waiting, listening. All was quiet. They couldn’t hear a thing.
“You missed,” Wrath said abruptly. Then a blue blast that seemed to come out of thin air headed straight for then twins. They both jumped out of the way just in time as the blast hit the wall. Then a spiked ball shot toward Mighty. Mighty raised up a purple force field that bounced the ball back. As it flew back, it eventually stopped in midair as if it had hit something.
“OOF!” they heard Carnage’s voice say. “You pay for that!” Then laser blasts and projectile weapons started flying allover the room. The Mystic Brothers ran all over the place like maniacs trying to dodge the attacks. They tried to counter attack with their magic by aiming at the spots where the attacks were coming form, but the mutants seemed to dodge every time.  Soon, the Mystic Brothers both took a serious hit. They fell to the ground.
“Fools!” said Wrath. They could here the mutants’ footsteps as they slowly walked closer to them. “How did you expect to beat us when you can’t even fight us?” As they stood over them menacingly, Mighty noticed something on the ground: shadows!   Even though Wrath and Carnage were invisible, they still casted shadows. That gave Mighty another good idea.
“We can’t fight you,” Mighty said. “But they can!” He then pointed his staff towards the ground. “Shadow Brawl!” A purple beam then came out of Mighty’s staff and hit the ground. Then something strange happened. Wrath and Carnage’s shadows began to…move. They rose up from the ground and morphed into 3-dimensional shapes. The shapes of Wrath and Carnage! The Carnage-shaped shadow punched the air.
“OOOF!” Carnage shouted. The Wrath-shaped shadow then let out a laser blast from its hand.
“AWWW!” Wrath shouted. The two shadows began to punch and swing and smash and hit like crazy. It seemed like they were only hitting the air, but every time one of their attacks landed, a shout from one of the mutants could be heard. “How is this possible!?” Wrath shouted. “How can they see us!?”
“They don’t have to see you,” Mighty said smugly. “They’re your shadows. They always follow you and know where you are, invisible or not. Making them the perfect opponents for you.”
“Way to go bro!” Diablo said as he slapped his brother a high five.
“Thanks!” said Mighty. “Now it’s your turn.” Diablo nodded. He pointed his alchemy staff out.
“Electric Zap!” Diablo shouted. A stream of blue electricity then came out of his staff and hit the area where the shadows were attacking. As the electricity hit, the mutants could clearly be heard yelling in pain. Suddenly, the shadows disappeared and Wrath and Carnage became visible again. They both fell over in pain. The Mystic Brothers then bumped fists as the stepped over their defeated rivals and began walking over to the Misty statue.
“Brother,” Wrath said weakly as he laid on the floor.
“Brother,” Carnage replied. They then held out their hands.
“Together!” they said in unison. They then grabbed each other hands and began to glow. They then transformed into red and blue orbs of light. The Mystic Brothers turned around to see what was happening. They shielded their eyes from the brightness. The red and blue lights then combined into one big purple light. Then there was an enormous flash. When the flash disappeared, Wrath and Carnage were gone, but something had been left in their place. A huge two-headed mutant with four arms, armor, a gauntlet, weapons, and a spiky tail. Wrath and Carnage had combined into Ravage, a super mutant with the powers and skills of both of them. Ravage roared at the Mystic Brothers.
“Damn!” said Mighty. “I always forget they can do that!” Ravage then took out a battle club and slammed it down trying to hit Mighty. Mighty jumped out of the way quickly, letting the club hit the ground.
“Boulder Bash!” Diablo exclaimed. He then held his staff straight up, conjured a huge boulder, and flung it right at Ravage. Ravage caught the boulder and crushed it into tiny pebbles. “Oh that’s not good.” Ravage then began to shoot lasers, fireballs, and slime everywhere. The Mystic Brothers dodged as much as they could. “We can’t waste anymore time with these dorks,” said Diablo. “We’ve gotta save Misty and find Brent before Wrecker shows up!”
“Right!” Mighty said. “Dark Blast!” Mighty then let out a huge blast of dark magic from his staff that sent Ravage flying backwards into the wall, dazed. Mighty had bought them some time. “Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!” Mighty and Diablo grabbed the Misty statue and ran out of the room as fast as they could. Mighty then closed the door behind them and conjured a huge chain lock around the door. They then heard Ravage from the inside of the room. He was trying to break the door down. Mighty knew his lock wouldn’t hold forever. He put his back up against the door to try to keep it shut.
“Change her back! Change her back! Change her back NOW!” Mighty yelled frantically.
“Okay! Okay! Okay!” Diablo said franticly as he started to put ingredients in his chalice. He then poured some sparkling, golden powder on the Misty statue. The gold once again disappeared, leaving behind Misty’s true form. As Misty sprung back to life once again, she began yelling.
“Rip off your horns and shove them up your-,” she stopped when she realized Wrecker was no longer there. She looked down and saw that she could move again. “I’m-I’m back to normal?” she said confused. She then looked over and saw the Mystic Brothers. “Mighty? Diablo? What’re you two-?”
“No time!” Mighty shouted still struggling to keep the door shut.
“You’ve gotta find Brent!” said Diablo.
“Brent?” Misty said. “What happened to him?”
“He got captured and he’s being held somewhere in this fortress!”
    “What!?” Misty said.
“Here, this’ll help you find him!” Mighty then tossed his crystal ball to Misty. “Now go!” Misty still didn’t know what was going on, but if I was in trouble, it didn’t really matter. She nodded.
“Speed Boost!” she said. With blistering speed she ran down the corridor. Just as Misty left, Ravage busted down the door. He glared at the Mystic Brothers with a look of pure rage.
    “Run?” Mighty asked.
“Run,” Diablo replied. They then fled down the hall with Ravage right on their tail. Meanwhile, Misty was running through the fortress, looking for me.
