As my team took care of the Dark Legion, my wedding cake rocket was still blasting upwards into the skies of the Dark Lands. It climbed higher and higher until it finally stopped and just began to hover. I was still on the very top of the cake with the cursed Misty. Wrecker was still making his way up the side of the cake. Like a rock climber, he scaled the frosting covered layers using all his strength to fight against the GeForce. I was waiting for him at the top. Hopefully, the climb would tire him out enough for me to take care of him quickly.
“That’s right Wrecker, come on up,” I said sinisterly. “I have a special wedding present to give you, right in your face!” I laughed evilly.
“Where is my groom?” said Misty. “Oh where is my darling Wrecker?” She looked so sad. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. That curse had made her actually fall in love with Wrecker. This was terrible…not to mention disturbing.
“Darling Wrecker?” I said. “C’mon Misty, you hate Wrecker even more than I do. You already hate men, but he’s your least favorite kind of man, an evil man!”
“No, that’s not true!” Misty refuted. “He’s the most wonderful man in the world! He’s not some freakish monster like you!”
“Freakish Monster?!” I shouted. “Why you-!” I stopped myself before I got too upset. I had to remember that it was the curse talking, not Misty. “Misty, don’t you remember all the horrible things Wrecker’s done? When he almost took over Amazonia? All the times he’s kidnapped you? All the times he’s tried to kill me? All the times he’s tried to take over the world!? Any of this ringing a bell?”
“You’re lying!” Misty shouted. “My sweet, beloved Wrecker would never do anything so horrible! You’re just trying to trick me so that I’ll be with you instead!”
“Hey, don’t flatter yourself lady!” I snapped.
“I won’t allow you to spread lies about my Wrecker!” Misty then pulled out the Sword of Masters. “I’ll deal with you! Then I can get back to my wedding!” Misty then started swinging the sword like a maniac trying to hit me. I bobbed and weaved to dodge her attacks. She tried to slice me again, and as I ducked, I fell backwards. As I slid back, I got frosting on my cloak.
“Aw man!” I said. “I just had this thing dry cleaned.” Misty started marching towards me to attack again. I had to do something, but it didn’t want to hurt her. This was pretty ironic because Misty and I wrestle and fight all the time. Ever since we were little kids, we’d always get into little friendly scuffles with each other. It was just something we did. But this was different. I have no problem fighting Misty when she fights back willingly, but fighting her when she’s under mind control just didn’t feel right for some reason. I couldn’t fight her, I just couldn’t. I had to find a way to break her curse.
Misty was still closing in. I had to think fast and get rid of her curse. But to do that, I had to figure out what cursed her in the first place. I analyzed her with my eyes using my super-computing brain. I had to find something that that gave me a hint about her curse. How did Wrecker curse her? I thought. He couldn’t have just used a magic spell, he had to use something more powerful and specific. I looked at Misty’s weird black wedding dress. Maybe it’s that hideous dress she’s wearing that cursed her. Maybe if I tear her dress off…uh…on second thought, it’s probably not her dress. As I continued to think to myself, Misty approached me and raised her sword. She tried to bring it down on me but I came to my senses and dodged just in time. I decided that I didn’t have time to think this out.
“Well,” I said to myself. “When all else fails, reach into the belt!” I reached into my utility belt and pulled out a strange bottle of some kind of liquid. “A bottle? How is this supposed to help? Is it a potion or something?” I noticed that the bottle had a label on it. I turned the bottle around to read it. The label read Industrial-Strength Ring Remover. “Ring Remover? Why would I need-?” I then looked at Misty’s hand and saw the strange looking ring on her finger. “The ring! Of course! Duh! Thanks belt!” I patted my trusty sacred artifact and dove in. I tackled Misty and wrestled her.
“Get off of me you beast!” Misty yelled as she struggled. “Get your filthy hands off of me!” Now this was really ironic because when Misty is her normal self, usually she’s the one who’s all over me. Oh how the tides have turned. As I wrestled Misty, trying as hard as I could to keep her down, I opened the bottle of ring remover and poured it all over her hand. I then grabbed the ring. The ring began to glow as I pulled it. It was trying to stay on Misty’s finger. But I couldn’t allow that. I pulled with all of my super strength until finally with a bright purple flash the ring came off. The force of my tug sent me flying backwards a little.
“Oh yeah!” I said. I then stood up and chucked the ring over the side of the cake as far away as I could. Misty moaned as she rubbed her head and came to her senses.
“Ughh…where am I?” Misty moaned as she stood up. I turned to face my sidekick.
“Misty!” I said. “You’re back to normal!” I smiled at her. Misty gave me a funny look.
“Brent?” she said. “Is that really you?”
“Huh?” I said. “What are you talking about Misty? Of course it’s me!” Misty stared at me intensely.
It looks like Brent, but I still can’t be sure. Misty thought. What if it’s Wrecker trying to trick me again? I have to make sure this is the real Brent. “Brent,” she said. “What’s your name?”
“My name?” I said confused. “What kind of a question is that? You know my name Misty.”
“Yes, but I want to hear you say it,” Misty replied.
“Fine, whatever,” I said. “My name is Brent Cosmos: Great and All-Powerful Superhero!” Misty smiled for a second after I said that, but her look turned serious again very quickly.
He said it right, but I still can’t be sure if this is really Brent. Misty thought. There must be a way to make absolutely sure. Then Misty got a great idea. “Brent,” she said in a sweet voice.
“What?” I replied. Misty then walked towards me. She put her face just inches away from mine. I blushed. She touched my cheeks with her hands and pulled my face closer to hers. She then pursed her lips. She pulled my face even closer. She was going to kiss me! I pushed her back quickly.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” I said in a panicked tone. “What’s the big idea here!? I mean you can’t just walk up and kiss me just like that! This really isn’t the proper venue! I’ve told you that you have to warn me when you’re gonna do stuff like that! I need time to prepare myself! GEEZ!” Misty laughed seductively.
“Adorably nervous and freaked out around women,” Misty said. “Yep, that’s definitely my Brent!”
“Of course it’s me!” I said. “Who’d you think I was, Wrecker?” Misty didn’t answer. She just giggled a little. “Whatever!” Misty looked around and noticed where we were.
“Umm…I don’t know if this is a weird question,” she said. “But are we…on top of a giant wedding cake rocket?”
“Yes, yes we are,” I said confidently.
“Dare I ask…why?” Misty said.
“It’s all part of my plan.” I said.
“Plan?” Misty replied.
“Yeah, I didn’t want any mistakes this time so I thought everything through before barreling in.” I said.
“Really!?” Misty said.
“Do you really have to sound so surprised,” I said slightly offended.
“Sorry,” Misty said. “So what was your plan exactly?”
“Well,” I began (You don’t have to read this part if you don’t feel like it since you just read my plan in the last chapter). “First I disrupted the wedding with a robot decoy that Wrecker thought was the real me. I used the decoy to lure Wrecker away from the alter. Once he defeated the first decoy, I had the Mystic Brothers drop more robot decoys into the stadium. This forced Wrecker to call over the other Dark Legion members for help. While they were distracted, Fightbot and Fang freed Ruby and Adojo. Then the real me freed Commander Stryker and sent him to get help. I also fixed his jetpack making it super loud to guarantee that Wrecker would notice it. Then I created this giant rocket cake, carried you to the top of it, and blasted it off into the sky knowing that Wrecker would see us and follow angrily, thus drawing him away from his team. Then I fused all the Brent decoys into a giant Recall Bomb, tricked the Dark Legion into releasing the magical restraints on the hostages, and sent them all home safely. Now the rest of the Super Fighters are dealing with the Dark Legion and Wrecker is scaling this cake. All that’s left is for you and me to team up and take down Wrecker! It was all very simple really.” Misty looked at me with a look of pure amazement.
“Brent, I don’t even know what to say to that,” Misty said. “That plan is so crazy it’s brilliant!”
“Thank you!” I said happily.
“You act so impulsive all the time, I always forget that you have a super-computing brain.”
“Yeah,” I said. "Me too."
“You actually thought up a plan instead of getting mad, blasting first, and not bothering to think later. I mean, not that that hasn’t miraculously worked out for you in the past,” Misty smiled. “I’m so proud of you Brent!”
“Yep,” I said triumphantly. “Considering all that’s happened today, I’ve come a long way from almost killing your mother!”
“What?” Misty said.
“Uh…nothing!” I said. “The important thing is that you’re safe.”
“And it’s all thanks to you,” Misty said with a passionate look in her eyes. “Think you have what it takes to handle a little gratitude kiss?” I blushed.
“I am Brent Cosmos: Great and All-Powerful Superhero!” I shouted as I beat my chest like an ape. “I can handle anything! But, uh…just do it on the nose okay?” Misty giggled she then leaned over to kiss me on my nose, but then a muscular purple arm reached over and grabbed the surface of the top of the cake. Misty and I gasped to see Wrecker pulling himself up.
“Cosmos!” He yelled as he pulled himself to the top and stood up. “Get away from my bride!”
“Oh right!” I said. “I almost forgot about Wrecker!” Misty gave Wrecker a viscous look.
“Beat it horn head!” she snapped. “We’re busy here. If there’s one thing I absolutely can’t stand it’s mood killers!”
“Misty my dear,” Wrecker said. “This was supposed to be our day. You were supposed to marry me!”
“You cursed me!” Misty yelled.
“That’s not important,” Wrecker said. “You’re should to be with me! I’m much better than that whelp!” Misty laughed at Wrecker.
“You really think you’re better than Brent?” she said still chuckling. “Brent may me a destructive psychopath, but at least he actually cares about other people. That alone makes him a thousand times better than you! Not to mention the fact that he’s younger, stronger and much better looking!” I blushed and smiled nervously, showing my razor-sharp teeth. Wrecker snarled.
“Why be with him?” Wrecker said. “You’re the strongest and most beautiful woman in the world! You should be with a great and powerful man! Not this child!” I scowled. Now I may be tough, but overall I'm a pretty sensitive guy. There's only so much I can take.
“I may be a child,” I said. “But I’m more mature than you!”
“What!?” Wrecker said.
“You heard me!” I snapped. “You’re a super villain! You strong-arm, terrorize, hurt, and destroy people just to get what you want! If that’s not immature, I don’t know what is! Sure, I may do bad things every now and then, but that’s only because I usually can’t help it. So what’s your excuse!?” Wrecker growled.
“Face it Wrecker, you are a child! All super villains are children! You selfishly think that just because you have power, that you should have anything you want. That everything in the world should go the way you want it to. And when it doesn’t, you just whine, throw a temper tantrum, enslave, hurt, and destroy people, and try to take over the planet just so you can have your way. And I won’t lie, I can be immature like that sometimes too. But the difference between you and me is, as time goes on, I learn, I grow, I adapt and, I get better! Meanwhile you just remain the same pathetic creature you’ve always been!” Wrecker huffed and snarled.
“Even now, the only reason you want to marry Misty is because you think you can! You think you deserve it! You feel that you’re better than everyone else and should get what you want! But what about how Misty feels? She may be beautiful, intelligent, mature, worldly, strong, and totally awesome, but she’s not a trophy to be displayed, a prize to be won, or an object to be owned! She is a person with her own feelings and her own heart! She should have the right to choose who she loves. And she made it clear that she certainly doesn’t love you! Still, you couldn’t accept that so you cursed her just so you could get what you want! I used to think I had problems, but you’re just sad Wrecker! Honestly, if I didn’t hate you so much, I’d feel sorry for you!” Wrecker growled in anger.
“How dare you talk down to me you insolent whelp!” Wrecker yelled as he charged in to tackle me. Before he could grab me, I flew up high. I then morphed my liquid metal leg into a huge hand, grabbed Misty by the waste, and pulled her up with me. We were both hovering in the air above Wrecker and the rocket cake.
“What are you doing Brent?” Misty asked.
“Putting the final step of my plan into action!” I said. I then pulled out a remote and pressed the big red button on it. Suddenly, a giant pink hand made entirely of icing came out of the top of the cake and grabbed Wrecker.
“What!?” Wrecker exclaimed. The hand then pulled his entire body into the cake leaving only his head sticking out. “What is the meaning of this!?” Wrecker yelled. The entire giant cake the started to turn and flip over until it was diagonally pointing at the ground. The rocket booster at the bottom layer of the cake then blasted at full power sending the cake (and Wrecker, screaming like a woman) rocketing down towards the ground of the Dark Land at high-speed. Then…
SPLATOOOOOOOOM!
The cake collided with the ground in a massive explosion that spattered cake everywhere. Somewhere under that delicious debris, was Wrecker. Misty and I landed on the ground safely. I picked up a clump of cake and gave it a taste.
“Yuck! Coconut!” I said. “Why did I let Fightbot pick the flavor of the cake?! He doesn’t even have taste buds!” Misty giggled.
“Well Brent,” she said with a smile. “Looks like you bailed me out of another jam. Thanks.”
“No problem!” I said confidently. “It’s what I do!” I looked at Misty and noticed that she was still wearing Wrecker’s wedding dress. “Umm…are you…going to stay in that dress?” Misty looked surprised for a second, then she put on a seductive smile.
“Do you not like this?” she asked feigning innocence. “Well I don’t think I have anything on under here, but if you really don’t like it, I guess I could take it off.” She then started to pull down the sleeve of her dress. I started blushing and freaking out.
“NO, NO, NO!” I yelled. “Change with the sword you weirdo!” Misty giggled again.
“Oh fine!” she said pulling out the Sword of Masters. She held the sword up to the sky and a streak of golden lightning stuck the sword and surged through her. The lightning made her evil wedding dress magically change into her usual scantily clad outfit: a pink bra, armor shoulder pads, shirtless pink sleeves on her arms, blue shorts, iron boots that go all the way up to her knees, and a stylish pink cape. “Better?”
“Sure,” I said. “But did you ever think that maybe your outfit is a little too revealing?”
“Well you’re one to talk Mr. Shirtless,” Misty replied.
“Hey, lots of Cosmoses went shirtless,” I said. “It’s our thing!” Just then, a huge clump of cake began to move. From the cake clump rose Wrecker, and if looks could kill, Misty and I would both be dead.
“Enough games!” Wrecker yelled. “We end this NOW!” He then pulled out a strange golden amulet with a red jewel on it. He placed the amulet on his chest and hit the red jewel. A radiant golden glow engulfed Wrecker and with a bright flash, a gigantic golden goliath robot appeared! Wrecker was piloting it from the inside. The robot slammed its arms together and a huge red pulse of energy came blasting out of its body. The pulse sent me and Misty flying backwards and vaporized all the splattered cake. The robot’s giant hands began to fizzle and spark with lighting-like energy as it prepared for battle.
“This…was not part of the plan!” I said.
