As Mighty, Diablo and I were racing to the rescue, meanwhile the Dark Legion were in their fortress feeling quite pleased with their triumph over me on Amazonia.
“We beat hero boy!” Carnage said as he clapped his hands gleefully like a child.
“Yes brother,” said Wrath. “You did quite well.” He patted his brother on the head.
“You too brother!” Carnage said as he put his arm around Wrath’s neck and pulled him in for a noogie
“I’ll admit,” said Primech. “You two actually did alright.”
“Yes, but I made the mission a success by turning the princess to gold,” said Ballista.
“Oh pleassssse,” hissed Slither. “Don’t even pretend like you did that on purpose. You were supposed to get Cosmos.”
“Hey, it all worked out didn’t it?” Ballista replied. “Wrecker even said that turning the princess to gold was even better than capturing Cosmos, so I still made the mission a success.”
“Whatever,” said Slither.
“Why did Wrecker want us to take the princess captive anyway?” said Primech. “What could he possibly want with her?”
“You can ask him yourself,” Ballista said as she pointed to her glowing skull bracelet. “He’s calling right now.”
“Well don’t keep him waiting,” said Wrath. Ballista then used her bracelet to conjure up Wrecker’s magic mirror once again. Wrecker appeared in the mirror sitting on his throne.
“I’m glad to see that you’ve all made yourselves at home in our new back-up fortress,” said Wrecker. “It should keep us hidden from Cosmos, for a while at least. That gives me just enough time to put my plan into motion.”
“Right,” said Slither. “And jussst what exactly issss your plan, if I may be sssso bold asss to assssk.”
“And why did you need the princess?” added Primech. Wrecker smiled wickedly.
“All will be revealed soon,” he said slyly. “Now Ballista, use your magic to turn Misty back to normal. I wish to speak with her.”
“What?!” Ballista said surprised. “You want me to change her back to normal right now?”
“But if we do that she’ll escape!” said Wrath.
“Yeah, right after she kicks our buttssss!” said Slither.
“Calm down,” Wrecker said. “Don’t change her back completely. Just change her head back to normal. Can you do that?”
“I suppose,” Ballista said still not totally understanding.
“Excellent, proceed,” Wrecker said. Ballista then levitated the golden Misty statue over and placed it down right in front of the magic mirror. She then let out a ray of white magic energy from her hands. As the ray hit the Misty statue, it began to turn her back to normal. The gold began to disappear leaving behind Misty’s normal form. When the spell finished, Misty blinked her eyes a few times and shook her head.
“Ughh…what happened?” Misty said as she began to spring back to life. She looked around and noticed that she was no longer in her castle in Amazonia. “Where am I?” She noticed the Dark Legion standing around her, then she looked in front of her and saw her hated enemy. “Wrecker!” she shouted. She then tried to move so she could attack, but something was wrong. She couldn’t move. Misty looked down to see that she was only back to normal form the top of her head to the bottom of her neck. The rest of her body was still golden. “Hey! What’s the big deal Wrecker!?”
“Now, now,” said Wrecker. “There’s no need to be so upset my dear. I’ve brought you here to offer you the opportunity of a lifetime.”
“Opportunity?” Misty said. “What are you talking about horn-head?”
“Misty my dear, you are quite a woman.” Wrecker said. “You are strong, brave, powerful, worldly, mature, intelligent, and beautiful. You have such great potential, and it just irritates me that that potential is wasted on that half-breed whelp.”
“Flattery will get you nowhere Wrecker,” Misty said annoyed. “What’s your point?”
“My point is that you don’t belong with a boy, you belong with a man! And not just any man, but the most powerful and handsome man in the world.” Wrecker then stroked his hair and flexed his muscles.
“I agree,” Misty said happily. “Unfortunately, Brent isn’t quite ready for an intimate relationship just yet, but I’m willing to wait.” Wrecker snarled at her remark. The rest of the Dark Legion began to snicker. Wrecker flashed them and sinister look, making them all stop instantly.
“How amusing,” Wrecker said trying to hold in his anger. “I was actually referring to myself.”
“Really?” said Misty. “You know I find it so funny that, after all the times Brent has completely kicked your butt, you still think you’re the most powerful man in the world. But I suppose having a high self esteem is important, no matter how sad and pathetic you are.” Wrecker growled with anger.
“What I’m saying is,” Wrecker continued angrily. “I want you to be mine. Marry me Misty!” Misty just stared at him silently for a moment.
“You can’t be serious,” Misty said in disbelief. “Why in the world would I ever want to marry you?”
“Aren’t you tired of being Cosmos’s sidekick, living in his shadow?”
“No,” Misty replied. “And for the record, I’m more than just Brent’s sidekick. I’m also his best friend.”
“Best friend,” Wrecker said with a condescending laugh. “Isn’t that cute. You see, that little punk doesn’t even have the courage to man up and be with you.”
“Hey that’s not fair,” said Misty. “Brent’s only 16. He just doesn’t really know how to deal with girls.”
“Exactly,” Wrecker replied. “He’s too young for you.”
“You’re one to talk! Aren’t you like 40?”
“I’m 27!” Wrecker said angrily.
“Seriously?” Misty said surprised. “But you act so…old.” Wrecker growled.
“Just marry me!” he yelled angrily. “And the whole world will be ours!”
“I have no interest in ruling the world,” said Misty. “I’m not that kind of girl.”
“You would really be with that hot mess of a superhero instead of me?”
“Look,” said Misty. “I’ll admit that Brent’s not perfect. Yes he can be a bit immature sometimes. He’s also angry, violent, aggressive, oversensitive, reckless, destructive, disturbed, crazy, mean-spirited, and he hates pretty much everything. But he has a good heart, and that’s all I care about. And I’d pick half-evil over pure evil any day of the week. So to put it in terms you’ll understand: I WOULDN’T MARRY YOU IF YOU WERE THE LAST MAN ON FURY!!!” All was quiet in the fortress for a moment. Nobody spoke. They were all waiting for Wrecker’s response.
“Well,” said Wrecker. “I’m sorry you feel that way my dear.”
“Hmph…you do realize that it won’t be long before Brent figures out where I am and comes to rescue me,” said Misty.
“Oh yes,” said Wrecker with a grin. “That’s exactly what I’m counting on.”
“Huh?” Misty said.
“I have plans for Cosmos when he gets here. And once the plans have been carried out, maybe you’ll feel differently about my proposal…for his sake.” Wrecker than began to laugh and his evil companions soon joined him. Misty didn’t find anything about this funny.
“I’m warning you Wrecker!” Misty shouted. “If you do anything to hurt Brent I swear I’ll-,” before Misty could finish her threat, her head instantly turned back into gold.
“Good work Ballista,” Wrecker said. Ballista smiled and nodded her head. “Now my friends, take my bride-to-be somewhere secure. It’s time to make preparations for our guest.” Wrecker and his clan laughed evilly as they began to plot.
