The night went on. Ruby had to leave since her daughter needed her. Emma decided to stay since she was half way through a conversation with Regina and jasmine. Penny was busy with Cora since they got on well even though she was a lesbian. Soon it was just Emma and Regina sat talking.

"No way. Henry did that" Emma asked laughing.

"Yep. He thought it would be funny throw jasmines phone in the pool. She went mental as you would and threw not only his phone but him" Regina says trying not to laugh.

"Ow my god. What about everything with robin? Does he bother with them" Emma asked.

"Yeah. They just don't want to see him. He's tried and honestly I don't blame them. Isabella told them what he did" Regina sighed.

"The slap? Jasmine told me. I couldn't believe that"

"Yeah. They all refuse to talk to him and I don't particularly want to talk to him either" Regina admits.

"He was a man whore anyway. It's good you found penny" Emma comments with a soft smile.

"And I'm happy for you and ruby. It's just... never mind" Regina shrugged.

"No go on"

"I was gonna say I remember you told me you didn't have feelings for her. Did that just change suddenly or what"

"I don't know. Why" Emma asked knowing she doesn't love ruby as much as she should.

"I was just curious"

"What? I know that face. Your hiding something from me. What is it" Emma quickly asked worried.

"It's nothing" Regina shrugged as she sipped her drink. Emma raised her eyebrows causing the brunette to sigh. "Fine. Are you with ruby to get over me? You can be honest"

"What? I'm... no. I... I love her. Why" Emma lied really badly.

"I was just wondering because it was quick after me and you started seeing each other again" Regina admits.

"Me? What about you and penny? That was all of a sudden"

"Because I missed you so I wanted someone to take my mind away from you. I'm glad we're back to being friends though" Regina smiled softly. She lifted her glass up in he air and held it in front. "To friendship"

"Cheers" Emma says clinking her glass against Regina's.

The girls leaned in and hugged. They kept hold of each other for a few minutes tight. The feeling both women got made them feel safe and warm again. Ruby came back to the party. She walked around before seeing. She goes over a little annoyed at Regina now.

"Hey em" she says as she approached.

The girls pulled away to see. Regina sighed in disappointment that she's back. Emma fake smiled and hugged her.

"Hi. How come your back" Emma asked while pulling away.

"I gave missy some medicine and put her to bed. No point staying so I came back to spend New Years with you"

Penny stumbled over a little drunk. She put her arms around Regina and Emma to hold herself up.

"It's nearly midnight. Come on" penny says pulling them back to the kitchen.

Regina stood in the middle and everyone around her. She had her phone and timer ready.

"3! 2! 1! Happy new year" they all shout counting down.

Penny grabbed Regina's hips and pulled her into a deep kiss. Ruby did the same to Emma. Everyone enjoyed there New Years kiss. Jasmine and her boyfriend. Isabella and her boyfriend. Henry and his girlfriend. Chris and his best mate just hugged. Every couple kissed for the new year. They pulled away and all started cheering. Emma had her arm around Ruby's shoulder. Penny did the same to Regina. Emma and Regina looked over at each other and smiled softly.

"Happy New Year Gina" Emma says softly.

"Happy New Year Em" Regina replied the same way.

They both looked at each other and just smiled slightly. Penny then kissed Regina's neck which made her look away. Emma looked down at ruby and started cheering as well. Both girls felt that empty feeling inside them. They knew they needed each other but didn't know the feeling was still mutual.
