I anxiously close the door, feeling crushed, and wanting to march up to Jeremy's room to tell him what's going on between me and his friend. But then I realize... what's going on between us? Nothing. So there's no reason to even bring it up. I won't end and ruin their friendship, because I'm just not like that. I end up running up to my room in a confused daze, and I change into pajamas. Laying in my bed in complete darkness, is when I realize what I really want now. I want to be single. I know after the summer ends that I'll be moving back to my aunts house in England, so there's really no point whatsoever in falling for anyone at this point in my life.
I tiredly close my eyes, trying to think nice thoughts when I glance at the clock and notice it's only 8 o'clock. An idea suddenly comes rushing to my head. Getting up qucikly and rushing across the dark room, is when I turn on the small lamp I have on my dresser and I open my jewlery box where I put something I know will come in handy right now.
Maci's phone number. The young girl I met at the store on the boardwalk, who's pregnant.
I feel my hands slightly shaking as I dial her number, anxiously pressing it to my ear as I listen to the ringing. On the fourth ring, about to hang up, is when she stops me.
"Hello?" A girl's voice questions, sounding shocked and almost a little confused.
"Hey, Maci?" I ask, hoping I have the right number.
"....Yes?" She softly questions, sharply breathing out. "If this is a prank, just screw off. I have't gotten one in two weeks and it's been the two best weeks of my life."
"No! It's not a prank I promise," I softly rush out before she can hang up. "It's me, Isabella. The girl you met at the store about three weeks ago."
"Isabella?" She asks, her tone suddenly changing to happiness as I grin. "Oh my god, no way. I honestly didn't think you would ever call me..."
"Yeah, sorry I haven't." I cautiously sigh and plop down onto my bed, staring up at the ceiling in deep thought. "I've just been pretty busy. Stupid stuff."
She quietly laughs, "Oh I know what you mean! I've been the same way. I've been buying things and decorating for Damon's room. I just painted the walls a light blue color and everything. You should see the crib I got him, it's totally adorable. It was literally like sixty bucks. I can only shop when they have really great deals.
"Aw, that's sweet. You already have a name for him?" I softly ask her.
"Yes! Damon."
"That's really cute," I nicely tell her, placing my hand lightly onto my flat stomach. "I like it. I bet he will too once he's older and all grown up. It sounds adorable but also sophisticated."
"Yes, exactly." She pauses as I try to hold back what I so badly want to say. "So, I mean don't take this the wrong way or anything, but... Why are you calling? Just to say hello and what's up? Cause that's really nice of you to randomly do this outof the blue."
"Maci," I carefully whisper into the reciever, sitting up and deeply exhaling. "Can I like, ask your something?"
"Sure, of course," she easily replies. "Let me just walk to my room, hold on for one second... Kay. Talk away."
"I just missed my period," I anxiously blurt out, unexpectedly, not even thinking about what I was going to say before the words just raced out of my mouth.
