The five girls sat around Jasmine’s table in the kitchen with a stack of letters sent from colleges to each of them in front of their seats. Trinity fiddled with the ends of her hair staring at the envelope opener that was in the middle of the table. Alyson took a deep breath before staring at the girls.
“We have to do it sooner or later.” She said with a shrug. Macy looked nervously down at the stack like it was going to bite her if she touched the white sturdy material.
“Why do I have a letter from Stanford?” Victoria asked picking up the first one in her stack. Jasmine’s eyes glittered with excitement.
“I think you should open that first!” She smiled with a giggle. Victoria looked up at the excited Jasmine.
“What did you do?” She glared accusingly at Jasmine.
“Nothing.” The girl shook her head and innocently batted her eyes at Victoria.
Macy smiled, “Open it Tori.” She was as excited as Jasmine, even though a part of her was upset.
“What do you guys know, that I don’t?” Victoria asked looking at the excited faces in front of her, “And Macy who do you look so pale?”
Macy shook her head and grabbed the letter from Victoria throwing it over to Jasmine.
“I don’t want to ruin this beauty you do it.” She tossed it to Trinity who pushed it over to Alyson.
“I see you eyeing the envelope opener, have fun.” She smiled throwing it to Alyson.
“It’s just a letter gosh you babies.” Alyson carefully slit the top of the enevelope and removed the folded paper out. Her eyes scanned the top quickly before she jumped.
“YOU ARE ACCEPTED!” She gasped. Jasmine, Trinity and Macy got up yelling and screaming in excitement. Victoria stared at the four enjoying the news confused.
“I never applied…” Victoria said slowly.
Jasmine giggled, “You didn’t. I did.” She beamed, “With some help of your parents and that lady you intern with.”
Victoria glared at the four, “I don’t have money.” She said quickly.
“FULL SCHOLARSHIP BABY!” Alyson screamed in excitement.
“That doesn’t cover the dorms and living expe…” Victoria began but Macy shut her off.
“Hailey already has that covered for you!” She smiled, “Victoria. You’re going to Harvard.”
Victoria looked up at the four who were glowing with excitement, “You guys.” She said quietly standing up from her seat slowly, “I’M GOING TO HARVARD!” She shrieked with a jump making the four girls laugh before rushing over to her to squeeze her with hugs.
“UCSI has nothing on this baby!” Victoria said sternly not able to control her excitement.
Jasmine giggled nodding her head then holding up her hand to high five Victoria, “You did good Asian chick.” She laughed.
Victoria nodded before taking a deep breath and ordering the girls back into their seats, “Your turn.” She tells them. They all sulked back into the chairs and looked down at the stack they each had.
