Victoria had to be the least excited when school started up again. She lazily walked up the stairs with her cup of coffee annoyed that she had to go back to waking up early again. The break had gone back too fast and she was already counting down the days until the next one.
Jasmine, Macy and Trinity stood staring at Macy’s large bump on her hand in their usual spot upstairs. Victoria joined them confused as to what they were doing when she got to their level.
“Are you guys okay?” She asked trying to take a look at what the girls were all staring at. Macy felt her throat dry up looking at the arm but she showed it to Victoria.
“What did you get bitten by?!” She asked shocked at the sight. Macy shook her head and looked back down at her arm.
“It’s my TB test.” She sulked. The girls stayed quiet looking at their scared friend, “It came out positive.” Macy choked.
“There’s nothing to be worried about, you got your X-ray and you’re going to go get it checked today by the doctors. You’ll be fine, a nine course medication that you have to go through just like my dad and you’ll be good to go.” Jasmine smiled informing Macy. She didn’t want her to even worry.
“What’s TB anyway?” Trinity asked not liking the look on Macy’s face.
“It’s a illness that’s super deadly.” Jasmine began explaining. Macy pouted looking at her arm.
“At my funeral, you better get me flowers.” She warned each girl.
Victoria shook her head, “You’re not going to die.” She said flatly, “And that’s an order.”
“It’s deadly?” Trinity asked Jasmine’s words still ringing in her ears.
“That’s why you need to go pick out some black clothes already.” Macy felt like sobbing.
“It is treatable if it is asleep. Which in Macy’s case, means not active.” Jasmine continued to explain.
“So basically, if I don’t take the medicine I die.” Macy asked.
“If the TB in you ever decided to become active and awake, then yea basically.” Jasmine shrugged. Her three friends looked at her in horror.
“But she’ll take the medicine and be fine!” Jasmine said assuring. Macy looked at her arm one more time before sighing.
“We have calculus lets’ go.” She said grabbing Jasmines arm into hers and pulling her alone.
“See ya later.” Jasmine waved to her two remaining friends. Victoria and Trinity walked to their own classes not wanting to be at school.
Zayn didn’t show up for Calculus that day which made Jasmine feel as ease. She honestly didn’t want to deal with him or his comments. After that meal with Rebecca she felt sick even thinking about him. What was she expecting though? He was just like James. The difference was that James was her first. Zayn would have been her second mistake.
“Do you need help?” Alyson chirped looking back at Jasmine who was done with her problems. “And of course you’re done.” She said glancing down at her paper, “Compare answers?”
Jasmine held out her paper for Alyson to see and check the math process.
“Dude, number three how did you do that?” Alyson asked looking at the strange way Jasmine did her work.
