Luke POV
I cried as I stared at my sister hugging my father. It was something I thought I'd never see.
As Nashi sobbed hugging his leg, he froze, confused by the situation. He looked at Mira and mouthed, 'What's going on?' She responded by saying, 'She needs help to save their mom."
Natsu frowned, kneeling down to look Nashi in the eyes, and from what I could tell, they were having a small conversation through the looks they would give each other. At some point, he smiled and spoke aloud.
"You know it's gonna be alright, right?" she nodded, wiping her tears and agreeing.
"Y-yeah, I do."
Natsu stood up, lifting Nashi with him as he trotted over to the bar. He sat her up on a stool next to his and ordered them a small meal. I couldn't move. It was like I was glued to the floor.
My tears had stopped a while ago, now I was just sitting with a red face in the middle of the guild.
I wasn't paying attention to anything around me when Natsu turned around a waved at me, "Hey there buddy! Wanna snack?"
I didn't respond but instead walked over and pulled a chair out next to him. He looked at me confused because I was keeping my bangs in front of my eyes.
I managed to mutter a coherent "Thank you," before I started to slowly demolish the food in front of me.
We ate for about 30 minutes before the Laxus jumped on stage. I knew he wasn't the guild master based on what I'd heard around Magnolia.
"Squirt, pinky, the old geezer wants to see ya," Laxus led us up the stairs to the master's office.
We knocked, after about 5 seconds, Laxus opened the door. While he turned the knob, we heard the sound of papers shuffling, and being thrown out the window right before a small, "That was close," that sounded very hushed.
When the door open, we were met by an old man with white hair who was smaller than Nashi and I. His face was slightly red with a tinge of annoyance and anxiety.
"H-hello, I'm Master Makarov," he greeted with a slight stutter.
"Hi, I Nashi and this is Luke, my brother," as soon as she finished explaining, he smiled warmly as if he knew something.
"I know, you're Lucy's kids," he stood from his desk walking over to us, Laxus was leaning on the door frame, almost falling when he heard the master.
"Wh-what? I don't know what you're talking about!" Nashi stuttered, waving her hands in defense.
"You're Lucy's kids, she told me after she left in the note Loke left. She told me that she was going to have kids, and would name them Luke and, or Nashi," he yelled over his shoulder while trying to climb his desk, pulling a letter out once he did.
He chucked it into my hands as I opened it, inside was my mother's very familiar handwriting. It was shocking to see, and read. She sounded so sad, I could tell she hadn't wanted to leave.
"So, only you know?" I interrogated with my eyebrows furrowed. She told him to keep it a secret and I wanted to know if he kept his promise.
"Well not anymore, Laxus knows too now," he grinned and continued, "but he won't tell anyone. Right Laxus?"
The lightning mage nodded, a small smile playing at his lips.
I turned back to Makarov, the realization hit me as I tried to get as much information as possible, "If she told you, you should know who my father is, right?"
"Don't worry, I'll make sure Natsu's I charge of you two the whole time."
"Really?" Nashi exclaimed, her eyes sparkling at the thought of spending a few days with our father. As he nodded, Nashi flung herself at him, choking him to death. "Thank you so much!"
"No problem, anything for Lucy's kids," he grinned his aged smile, showing his old smile lines, "Plus, it might be good for Natsu."
He walked us out of his office, onto the large stage where he introduced us.
"Listen up brats!" he bellowed, silencing the rest of the room, "This is Luke and his sister Nashi Ashley."
"Why do they always introduce me last?" Nashi grumbled with her arms crossed and a light pink dusting her cheeks.
"They need our help to save their mom, and Natsu..." he trailed off, a small smirk gracing his lips, "You're going to be in charge of them for a while."
"Alright, sounds cool!" he cheered. He thought that it would be fun to hang with them, they kind of reminded him of Asuka. Remembering that day, he blushed a little, just enough to be noticeable, but not to be called out.
The idea of children other than the guild member's being cared for by Natsu didn't make much sense to the rest of the guild, especially those with their own.
Without hesitation, Gray jumped up out of his booth seat and yelled, "Why the hell is Flamebrain watchin' them?"
Makarovs sly facial expression only intensified further as he replied in a cocky voice, "Because I said so!" causing everyone to look at him in confusion, "And plus, I think it'd be good for Natsu to take care of someone other than himself or Happy, considering he has no actual experience.
"Hey! I took care of Asuka and she's just fine!"
"That was for less than a day Natsu, it doesn't count," Lisanna informed in a supportive voice, though it was hard to be serious in the current situation.
He pouted, giving in to the guild's argument, "I'm going to prove you all wrong. You guys are going to be the most pampered kids in the entire guild."
"If you say so Natsu... Luke, Nashi, keep Natsu out of trouble."
"Aye sir!"
