"Stevie, I'm sorry---" Lindsey told her as he was driving them back home. After going to Mick's and Stevie having the small chest pain, Lindsey was done and he realized he was really overreacting a little. The way Stevie slapped Mick and the rage that came out of her, he knew. Stevie was his girl and he knew her so well. He knew she wouldn't sleep with Mick---especially not after all the years.

"It doesn't matter now, it's over," she was staring out the window as she spoke. She was a little upset to say the least. At the moment she knew she was definitely at fault for not being totally honest, but Lindsey was also just accusing her and he didn't know what happened. She knew she didn't do anything.

"I don't want you to be mad at me, Stevie---our past, our past affairs... You know how I'm feeling."

"I do," she stated calmly. "I don't want to talk about it---okay? This is not something I wanna talk about right now."

Lindsey just stayed quiet, abiding her orders. He didn't want to piss her off, he knew she was plenty pissed. He knew that she was having chest pain and that was due to everything. "How's your heart?" he asked her.

"It's fine," she almost gritted her teeth. "I will take one of the nitroglycerin tablets when I get home."

Arriving home, Stevie decided to hop in the shower and wash everything she could off of her. She wished she could wash off every emotion at the moment. She was not feeling too well and she was just irritated in general. Mick really pissed her off enough and she was trying not to snap at Lindsey. Nothing other than the accusation was his fault.

As she stepped out of the shower, she shivered lightly. The winter weather was in and it caused her to wear a lot more around this time. Even when thet went to see Mick, she practically dressed all the way up. She wore pants---black, a sweater with her leather jacket over top and some boots. She wasn't messing around---she was freezing especially since they lived near the beach.

When she threw her nighty on, Lindsey was headed for the shower. He didn't really talk much, not to Stevie since she was in somewhat of a mood. But he couldn't blame her for being mad. Mick really knew how to press her buttons and saying they had sex when they didn't, that pissed Lindsey off too. What was Mick gaining by saying that? As a couple they had hoped he wasn't telling people that. It had only been one night, thus far, but he knew how to spread news. But along with that, he had a wife and children, so why would he want his wife to know?

Stevie slipped into bed and was trying to get warm when Lindsey got out of the shower. Normally Stevie would want him holding her, or close in the bed because his body would keep her warm, but she didn't want anybody touching her at all.

He kind of looked at her and felt bad. He didn't want to go to bed so mad. When he slipped into bed, that was it.

The couple had gone to bed for the night---away from each other and on their sides.

...

When it was nearly three a.m. in the morning, did Lindsey jolt awake from the sound of his cell ringing on the table. Afraid it would wake Stevie, he picked it up quickly to answer.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hey, Lindsey---it's me," Elijah's voice stated.

"What's up, kid?" he asked---groggy as ever.

"Lucy is having the baby and she wants you guys. She's in pain and I need help. I can't help her, I dunno what to do---I'm freakin' out."

"Alright, calm down," he rubbed his face. He nudged Stevie with his foot under the blanket. "We'll be there soon." Right after, he hung up and flipped the covers off. "Stevie," he said softly.
