Stevie stayed thinking about the party the next night and only had bad thoughts of what she thought could happen if Lucy and Lindsey met one-on-one.

Then the next morning arrived and Stevie would take Lucy and herself to get their nails done and do little things for themselves. Stevie wanted to do things for Lucy since she wouldn't have her for too long, before she went on tour.

"So, where am I taking you?" Karen asked as she pulled the car out of Stevie's gated home.

"Nail salon, first?" Stevie asked Lucy and she nodded.

"Whatever you want, really."

"No, it's always about me. We are gonna do what you want, sweet girl," Stevie turned to the backseat and placed her hand on her daughter's cheek.

"Okay," Lucy smiled.

"When is Elijah getting here?" Stevie asked.

"Mm..." Lucy looked at the time on her watch. "Maybe, around six or seven," she assured.

"Okay, good. We have time to go shopping for a while," Stevie smiled as she faced foward again. It was three and Stevie wanted to go shopping before the party- that started at nine. Some people would come early- eight at the earliest.

The girls got their nails done and chatted in between. They talked about school and small life choices but nothing huge that would be soon.

"What have you and Elijah been up to?" Stevie asked.

"Nothing much. I mean, he loves what he majored in and he's happy," Lucy sort of shrugged.

"Are you happy, doll?" Stevie asked getting in the car.

"Yeah. I'm fine, why?" Lucy looked at her mom.

"Well, you don't seem too happy."

"I am," Lucy smiled trying to assure her mother because she was happy. "I miss you."

"Okay and I miss you too, love bug," Stevie agreed and she kissed her daughter on the head. She didn't want to keep asking, she knew that would bother her daughter.

"What are you wearing tonight, mom?" Lucy asked, trying to get her mother's attention off her.

"I don't know for sure I am between two outfits," Stevie chuckled. She was a little conflicted---she wanted to wear something nice for Lindsey, but not too flashy for the occasion. She wasn't even sure if Lindsey was coming which made her a more nervous, though it would be some relief and she wouldn't have to worry about her ex-husband and daughter meeting. "How about you?" she looked to her daughter.

"Hmm, I was thinking that long, chiffon, hazel skirt and that earthy toned wrap blouse with the peasant sleeves."

"That sounds pretty," Stevie smiled.

"If I wear that, can I wear your cream boots?"

"Of course," Stevie responded.

"Thanks," Lucy smiled.

"Where are yours?" Stevie asked.

"I left them at the apartment on accident," Lucy kind of giggled.

"Only girl I know who forgets shoes," Stevie laughed.

Lucy shrugged smiling. She was barefoot a lot or always wearing flip flops that she never thought about it.

"I wanna see if I can find something when I we go shopping. We can see if we find whole outfits. I'm looking for a blouse or something."

"Okay," her daughter nodded in agreement.
