It... must... be the ass that got me like that. If it get any fatter, man, the Rule gon' have to get at her.I rolled my hips while I looked back at my derrière and held my drink in my hand. I alternated between looking over my left and right shoulder as I danced to the beat. Kia has finally gotten me to the club and Damon couldn't miss it. I must say that I'm glad she did. I'm enjoying myself.
A random man made his way behind me and pressed up against my backside. I immediately straightened my stance and shook my head politely. He nodded his head and made his way through the crowd.
Damon brung his mouth to my ear, "okay, so please inform me as to why you are curving all of these fine ass men?" Damon isn't much taller than me, so all I had to do was slightly lean over for him to be able to hear me over the music, "I'm just having a good time. I don't need a man pushing up on me unless he's my man."
Damon's mouth opened to say something but whatever caught his eye kept him from speaking. I turned my head in the direction he was looking in to see what he saw. With no luck, I turned to him, "what's wrong?"
He shook his head, "nothing. Mila is walking over." He pulled his drink from his straw. "I have to use the bathroom. I'll be right back." As he was walking off, Kia was approaching with three drinks in her hand. A few words were exchanged between Kia and Damon before she handed him one of the drinks and made her way over to me.
"One vodka tonic," she handed me the drink.
"Hi, ladies," Mila smiled and hugged Kia and then me. "Where did Damon run off to," she sipped her drink and looked around, "I could have sworn I saw him."
"Bathroom." I said. "Who are you here with? Shay?"
She shook her head, "Brandon, his cousin and his cousin's girlfriend. Shay said she thinks she's coming down with the flu so she's at the emergency room right now. I told her to call me when she leaves from there and I'll bring her some soup." She looked at Kia, "Shannon must still have Layla?"
Kia tilted her head and gave her an 'as if' face, "now you know he returned her bright and early the next morning." We laughed because we know Shannon's 'parenting skills' or lack thereof all too well. Kia and Shannon are the prime example of the situation I do not want to be in and why I'm not popping out with a baby just to please my family. Shannon supports Nuna financially and although that is apart of his fatherly duties, he feels as though it compensates for the lack of time that he actually spends with her.
I know that things happen and I know that Kia never pictured herself being a single mother, but that's why it's so important to choose wisely on who you bring children into this world with. The children are always the ones who end up suffering the most. Nuna doesn't know the first thing about a Jordan sneaker or a Burberry coat, but she does know who her father is and the fact that he picks and chooses when he wants to see her pisses me off.
