Chapter 12; Closer

We all got back home at around 9:00 pm. All of us walked down to the basement where Chase and Joe got shirtless and ready for bed.

9:15 pm Nicole's POV

I went upstairs with Danielle to change into our PJs and get ready for bed. I was wearing a simple white t-shirt with some short shorts and Danielle was wearing a red crop top with fleece shorts.

We walked downstairs to the main floor and grabbed a glass of water while Danielle went downstairs. I was pouring my water out of the brita filter when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I looked around the dark room and didn't see anyone *must be Danielle* I thought to myself.

I decided to grab a bowl of fruit that was in the fridge. I started to sing one of my favourite songs "hey, I was doing just fine before I met you, I drink too much and that's an issue but I'm okay." I turned around and did a circle "hey, tell your friends it was nice to meet them, but I hope I never see them again...." I rolled open the drawer with the utensils in it and grabbed a fork.

"I know it breaks your heart, moved to the city in a broke down bar and..." I sat down and began eating my fruit. "Four years no calls, now your looking pretty in a hotel bar." Joe came out of the darkness with a grin on his face. I jumped "how long were you there for?!?!" "Enough to hear your beautiful voice...I love that song." He sat down next to me. I grinned "so baby pull me closer in the back seat of your Rover that I know you can't afford..." "Bite that tattoo on your shoulder, pull the sheets right off the corner of the mattress that you stole from your roommate back in Boulder, we ain't ever getting older." Joe and I stood up and started dancing and jumping around.

Chase and Danielle ran up the stairs "What's going on?!?" They yelled. "We heard stomping." Chase said. "Everything's fine, me and Nic were just having a little fun." He put him arm around me. "Uh...okay." Danielle motioned for Chase to come back down the stairs with her.

"So...." Joe looked at me and laced our fingers together. "Do you want to go watch a movie?" He said. "Sure" I giggled. We went upstairs into my bedroom and Joe sat on my bed while I got Netflix loaded onto my laptop. We decided to watch "Annabelle" because it was scary. I cuddled into Joe's chest as the thrilling movie played.

11:45 pm

Once the movie was over Joe and I walked quietly down the stairs and into the basement. Danielle and Chase were doing Tik toks together. "Hey guys." I said. "Hey" Danielle said. "Wanna go live?" Chase turned on his phone. "Yeah, sure!" Joe said. We all sat down on the couch. I got the ring light and Chase started the live.

Chase's POV
I looked at my screen and smiled.

"Hey guys, how's it going?" I said. Danielle hugged me and giggled. "Oh yeah, this is my girlfriend, Danielle I'm not sure if you guys have seen her or not." I smiled.

Joe popped his head in front of the camera and smiled "Hey guys!" I looked at Danielle and grinned, "okay, Danielle and I need to go and do something, so Joe and Nicole will take over!" I held Danielle's hand and walked upstairs. Joe sat in front of my phone and Nicole came with him.

12:00 am Nicole's POV

We were live and I was waiting for Joe to introduce me to Chase's fans. "Let's play the emoji game...okay first one to comment the cool guy gets a shout out!" He said "ready, set, go!!". I gave him an awkward smile.

Joe looked at the screen "Okay first commenter was wauderrr!" He was completely oblivious to all the hate I was getting. "Okay, I'm going to bed now." I started walking up the white stairs.

Joe looked at me weird. "Alright guys, I'm going to end the live...I'll post tomorrow!" He turned off Chase's phone and followed me.

Tears started to form in my eyes because of all the hate I was getting. I didn't want Joe to see them so I ran up the basement stairs and up the other set of stairs to go into my room. I had to be quiet cause my parents were sleeping. I began to weep on my bed with a box on tissues in hand.

*Knock* Joe began to speak "Nic? What's wrong? Are you okay? Can I come in?" He began to turn my door knob. I just sat there crying. He saw my face and swiftly ran in. He jumped on to my bed and began to hug me. He kissed my forehead "what's wrong?" "T-the hate..." I sobbed. "Awe baby, they're just jealous. You can't let that get to you." His grip on my body became tighter. "You're one of the most important people to me...." He said "I hate seeing you cry." I stopped crying and just held onto him. We were already in our pyjamas so we decided to lay down. Joe wrapped his arms around around me "are you okay now?" "There's one more thing...." I began "how come you didn't introduce me?" Joe looked at me confused "I thought Chase did...they all knew your name." "That's not it. He did kind of introduce me, but you didn't." Joe sat up "what do you mean?" "Chase introduced Danielle as his girlfriend...." I trailed. "Yeah" he said.

"Look, are we dating or not?" I said "do you want to make it official?" Joe smiled "of course." He held my hand and we fell asleep in my comfy bed.
