Chapter 29; The call.

2:56 pm

We arrived home from school and I walked into the kitchen.

Jason went upstairs and I sat down at the table and ate am apple while looking on Instagram.

Joe walked into the kitchen and I gave him a glare. "What?" He said. "You know what." I started to gather my things to head upstairs.
He grabbed my arm "Wait. Nic, what happened at school today isn't what it looks like."

I rolled my eyes "of course it's not Joe. You're always doing something and you've been so secretive lately. I thought we were besties...what happened to that?" I said. "You love Jason. That's what happened." He said and walked away.

I scoffed and walked upstairs to see Jason sitting shirtless on his bed. "Hey babe, I'm not in the mood right now." I said. "What happened?" He said and grabbed my waist.

I turned away from him, but he spun me around so I faced him. "What's wrong." He said. "It's Joe..." I looked down.

"Did he do something?" I could tell that he was getting mad. "No." I said. "Then what happened?"

I looked up at him "I caught him smoking today. I got mad at him, but something else was going on so I ignored it. When he came home we...I guess talked about it and I said that we were getting distant and stuff and asked him what was wrong."

"And...." He said. "He said that it was because I love you."

"That's not something that he should be mad about. You're allowed to love who you want to." He rubbed my arm. "I know. We talked about this stuff too and he was fine. I just don't get why he's acting out." I sat down on the bed.

"Yeah. I don't know why he's acting like this either. I'll talk to him about it, okay?" He sat down next to me.

"Yeah, okay." I said. "Here, let's go make cookies or something in the kitchen." Jason smiled. "Okay." I giggled and we walked downstairs.

3:23 pm

"Put these in the oven." I handed Jason a tray of chocolate chip cookies. He smiled and put them in the oven along with all the other cookies.

I noticed my phone ringing so I picked it up.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey Nicole it's me. I have some news for you." My mom said.

"Okay..." I waited for her to say it.

"I was offered a job in Quebec. I have to live there for about a year. I've already told Mrs. Waud about it and she said that you can stay with them." She said.

"Mom...this is amazing!!! I'm so happy for you! But when will I see you?" I said.

"I'll come over there for Christmas and your birthday, but I have to leave in 2 days and you'll still be in Washington." She said.

"Oh okay. I still have to get my things from the house though." I mentioned.

"Yeah. The boys will help you with it. You'll all fly there and bring your stuff back." She said.

"Okay. This is so exciting! I'm so happy for you, congratulations mom." I cheered.

Jason looked at me funny and mouthed "what's going on?" I waved my hand and mouthed "I'll tell you later."

"I have to go now because my boss is calling, but you have fun and I'll see you soon. I love you!" She said.

"I love you too Mom." I hung up and turned to Jason.

"What's going on?" He said. "My mom got a job offer in Quebec and she has to stay there for about a year." I smiled. Jason's eyes widened "Wait. Will you be staying here?!?"

"Mhm!" I grinned. "OH MY GOD NICOLE!" He yelled and picked me up. "THIS IS AMAZING!" I laughed and kissed his forehead "Yes it is."

"What's going on?" Danielle said as her and Chase walked through the door. "Well, well, well where have you tell been? I haven't seen you guys in a few days." I laughed. "We went to a little cottage and stayed there for a bit." She said as she took her sweater off.

"What was all that yelling about?" Chase said. "Oh, well Nicole will be staying here for a year." Jason smiled.

"Oh really?" Joe said as he walked down the stairs. "Yeah..." I smiled. "Cool." He went in the backyard.

"What's up with him"? Chase pointed towards Joe "We're still figuring it out." Jason said.

Danielle pulled me aside "Hey so um what's going to happen to me?" "What do you mean?" I said. "Like when I have to go back to Canada will you come with me or stay here." She questioned.

"I guess you'll just go back to your house and I'll stay here. The boys and I will go back in a few days to get my stuff, but I have to live here." I said. She looked disappointed "Oh okay." "Hey, don't worry we can still hangout and stuff, like you'll come here and I'll go there." I smiled. "We better." She laughed.

Chase wrapped his arms around her waist from behind "yeah and you can still also come to LA." She giggled and they kissed. "Get a room you two." I laughed.

6:00 pm

We were eating pizza in the living room when Jason picked me up and brought me upstairs.

"What about the others?" I asked. "They'll leave soon or go do something." He said.

He put me on the bed and rested his body on top of mine. I kissed his head "you're so cute." "I love you." He said and kissed me. "I love you too, Jason."
