Chapter 16; Dead or Alive

3 am Jason's POV

Joe, Chase, Danielle and I all sat in the waiting room for Nicole to come out of surgery. They said that she might die because she hasn't woken up.

*1 hour later*

"Hey, she's done but she needs some rest." A nurse came to see us. "Has she woken up?" Danielle grabbed Chase's hand. "Unfortunately not, the doctor still thinks that she's in a coma." The nurse said then walked away. "What if the doctor is wrong?" Joe said. "I swear to God....they better be." I clenched my jaw. "Jace, it's okay." Joe said.

"It's really late...we should go home." Chase said to Danielle. "Yeah, I guess so" she looked at me "we'll be back in the morning." "I'll come with you guys...I'm really tired." Joe rubbed his eyes. "Alright, I'll see you guys in the morning." I hugged them and they left.

Another nurse came and told me that I could go and see Nicole so I went to her room. "There's blankets in that cabinet and the chair turns into a bed." She closed the door and left me with Nicole.

I sat close to her and grasped her hand "babygirl, please wake up." I softly said. I then rested my head on the bed and fell asleep, holding her hand.

6:00 am

I woke up to the sound of the machine beeping again. I quickly ran out the room and called a nurse. A doctor also came rushing in. "She's going flat get me a breath pouch and I'll start doing CPR." The doctor said. "Get me an electrical shock please." She looked at a nurse and they went to get it. I just stood there in shock. "Sir, you need to leave please." A nurse came up to me and I was escorted out of the room.

All I could hear was "CLEAR." I started to cry thinking that she wasn't going to come back to me. The doctors were saying "Please come back, you can't do this." I cried even more.

*1 hour later*

All the nurses and doctors came out of the room and one came to talk to me "Are you the boyfriend?" He said. "Uh yeah I am." I replied. "She's awake and she wants to see you." He continued "turns out she just had some over exhaustion and internal bleeding. We managed to fix it during surgery. I have no idea why her heart stopped, but we're watching her very closely." He padded me on the back and walked away.

I slowly walked into the room only to see her laying on the bed, smiling at me. "Oh my god, babygirl you're okay." I smiled and hugged her. "I love you, Jason Waud." She hugged me back.

"They're bringing us a bigger bed so you can sleep with me." She smiled while playing with my hair.

*10 mins later*

"Hey guys, here's the new bed that you requested." A nurse said while wheeling in a different bed. "Nicole, I'm going to unhook you from the machines but don't move too much." She said. I stepped back and watched as Nicole took all the wires off of her body.

The nurse wheeled the bed into the same spot that the smaller one was in and hooked Nicole back up to everything. "Okay guys, get some rest...the doctor is going to come and see you at around 10 am." She walked out of the room and closed the doors.

"You requested a bigger bed?" I said. "Y-yeah..." She scratched her head "I knew that you were here and I wanted to spend time with you." I smiled "But h-how did you know I was there?" Her fingers intertwined with mine "I heard you, you're the one who stayed." "I love you Nicole, you're my pride and joy." I kissed her.

"Come" she patted the spot next to her on the bed "let's go to sleep." I stepped up on the bed and took my shirt off. She pulled the blanket over us and she cuddled into my chest.

"I missed you and I'm sorry for being a jerk." She looked up at me "it's okay, I just need to break up with Joe. I love him, but I don't think I can be with him after all of this." She said. "Yeah...I need to break up with Stacey." I laughed. "Stacey? Who's that?" She said.

"Stacey is a girl that I somewhat dated to get over you" I scratched my head "she just used me for the fame and to say that she's dating me." Nicole kissed my cheek "Jason, I'd never use you. I love you too much for that." She giggled. "I know you wouldn't." I cuddled into her.

"I...love...you." She said as her eyes closed. "I love you too, Nicole." I kissed her on her forehead and fell asleep.

9:47 am Nicole's POV

The last night was pretty rough. I woke up with Jason in my hospital bed. Joe, Chase and Danielle walked into the room. "Oh hey, you're awake and alive." Danielle giggled as she came in to hug me. "Shh, he's sleeping." I pointed at Jason who was dead asleep.

Joe sat down on the chair next to me. "I'm glad you're okay." He rested his hand on mine. "Joe..." I didn't know what to say. "It's okay. I know you're more comfortable with him. I'm still your bestie tho, right?" He let out a laugh. "Awe, of course you are!" I said.

"I'm not allowed to get out of bed and I need to wake Jason up so can you guys go and get me some Tim Hortons?" I asked. "Alright, what would you like?" Chase continued "I missed you by the way." He came in for a hug. "Uh just get me the usual please and Jason will have the same." I said as everyone walked out.

Danielle smiled as she closed the door.
I turned to Jason and played with his hair. "Baby......" I started kissing him all over his face and neck. "Wake up.....everyone is here, they went to get Tim Hortons." I pressed my body against his.

"Okay babes, seriously wake up." I laughed. I got impatient and decided to turn over and sit on Jason. I was now on top of him. "Babe." I whined. Jason started to rub his eyes. He blinked a couple of times until he realized that I was on him. "Oh uh good morning." He slid his hands down my legs and to my waist. I laid a hand on his face and kissed him softly. "He wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him.

"What a night." He laughed as we separated our lips from each other. "God I love his kisses." I then realized that I said it out loud. I quickly put my hand over my mouth and laughed. "You like my kisses?" Jason grinned. "Whoops?" I giggled, "yes I do."
"Then there's always more room for that." He leaned in and kissed me again. We then started making out.

My IV in my hand started to hurt "Ouch." I yelped. "Are you okay?" Jason got worried. "Y-yeah I'm okay I think....it just hurts" I looked at the IV "maybe we should take a break." "Okay, we can take a break." Jason said in a funny voice. I've never seen him so happy before. "Jason?" I leaned on my side of the bed. "Yeah." He said as he hopped off of it.

"Why did you choose me?" I nervously said. He looked at me kind of funny "what do you mean?" I rolled my eyes "why do you like me? Out of all the girls you chose me."
Jason sat back down beside me "Nic, I don't just like you I love you" He gripped my hand "and I love you because you're everything that I could ask for...." I smiled and waited for his response. "You're beautiful, smart, funny....the list goes on. You're the perfect girl for me and nobody's going to change that." He hugged me.
