Younger Luke ^

Clary's pov

'Clary, you can't hide' called Luke as he came round the corner. I giggled as I hid under the bed. The Slavince family had come to the opera house for a month to watch over our performances and sort some business. Luke was 13 and his older brother Mark was 17 and learning how to be a proper duke

'Aha' Luke grabbed me and tickled me till I was gasping. I was laughing at him to stop. I looked up at him and smiled. 'Found you'  he taunted. I giggled and poked his chest, he let go of me and turned me around. 'Happy birthday princess' he produced a small velvet box. I took it off him and opened it.

I gasped, inside was silver chain attached to it was a diamond heart

I gasped, inside was silver chain attached to it was a diamond heart. ^
'Oh thank you Luke! Why did you do this?' I asked as I turned around.
He smiled sadly 'because I wanted to and I wanted you to have it' he took the necklace off me and clasped it around my neck. 'Promise me you'll never take it off'
'I promise always and forever' I hugged him 'thank you'  he hugged me back.
'Your welcome'
'LUKE! GET DOWN HERE NOW!'
We both winced 'that would be my father'

Then we both ran downstairs to where his family was waiting. 'Luke it's time to go' Luke didn't move 'NOW!' I winced. He still didn't move from my side. 'Lukas Maximus Andreas Slavince get over here now and stop disobeying your father' Luke bowed his head and walked over to his father, who grabbed his ear and dragged him out the door.

The Slavinces' were back after 5 years and I couldn't wait to see Luke again, true to my promise I haven't taken the necklace off.

I ran to the door with Lizzie and waited, first I saw was Mr and Mrs Slavince followed by Mark. 'Clarice, dear, could you help Bruno with the bags' I hurried over to Bruno who was also a great friend. 'Yes Mrs Slavince'

As Lizzie showed them to the Madam Giry, I carried the bags to their rooms. 'Bruno? Where is Luke?'
He turned to me confusion written across his face 'haven't you heard' I shook my head 'well it came out last year that Luke wasn't Mr Slavince's son so he's been labelled a bastard and has been downgraded to the captain of the guard. Also, he is in charge of all the crime, the worst job for an important person so he shall not be coming till later. I'm sorry you had to find out like this.' I nodded as he walked down the hall.

Later that night, during dinner, Luke came into the dinning hall. 'Ah Lukas so glad you could join us.' Said his father grimacing. Luke's face remained emotionless and he sat down in the empty chair.
'So Luke, how is life in the streets?' Luke's jaw clenched. 'Or should I say the "bastard" life freak' taunted Mr Slavince. Luke slammed his chair back knocking it over and stormed out the room. I went to follow him but I felt a hand on my arm, I looked down and saw Mark smiling at me 'don't follow my brother he's not worth it'

I yanked my arm out of his grasp and ran out the room.

I found Luke in the library part of the opera house. 'Luke?'
'What, come to taunt me as well?'
'No I wanted to see you'
'Yeh? well I don't want to see you' he turned away from me to look out the window. 'Luke, I know this isn't you please come with me and apologise to your fath...' he whipped around. 'You don't know me Clary, I can't be what you want me to be, I'm a bastard, you don't want that.'
I looked at him only seeing sadness. 'What happened to always and forever?'
'That's gone Clary, that boy is gone. Leave me alone, go Clarice'
'Luke...'
'GO!' I ran out of the room scared of the man he had become. I cried in a moonlit corridor.

That night I gave myself over to Zoe and my life went to pot. When I changed my life around I also chose to forget Luke and the whole Slavince family. It was clear he didn't care about me anymore so I left my necklace in his case with a note of goodbye.

I haven't heard from him till now. Standing in front of me looking as though he didn't care that he broke my heart 3 years ago.
