Freedom Pt 2 (Tododeku)

Slight Angst

It has been only two years since Todoroki committed suicide. It took a very long time for Izuku to lighten up again. Sooner or later, he was back to his old self. However, he would still get really depressed and sometimes cry at random times.

What Izuku didn't know was that Todoroki has been watching over him the whole time. He would make sure he was safe when walking home and he'd whisper sweet things in his ear when he would have nightmares.

Today, Todoroki wanted to do something special for Izuku since it was birthday. He wanted to find a way to communicate with him.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIDORIYA!!" Izuku smiled at his classmates' surprise he received when coming home from the grocery store. "You guys!" He smiled and laughed.

His mother came over to him and kissed his cheek. Uraraka put a crown on his head. Iida came over as well with the birthday cake. "Make a wish!" He said. Izuku closed his eyes and made a wish.

Todoroki's POV

Wow, everyone from class joined in on the party. Including Bakugou! How surprising.

"Make a wish!" Iida said with a birthday cake in his hands. I stood next to Midoriya as he made his wish and blowed out the candles.

When he opened his eyes, I saw how watery his eyes got.

"Hey man, why are you crying?" Kirishima asked putting a hand on his shoulder. Midoriya shook his head. "I'm sorry." He whispered and ran into his room. Everyone became confused. Now might be my chance.

I went into his room and saw him hugging his pillow and crying softly. "Midoriya," I whispered and sat down next to him. "Don't cry." I touched his cheek. Surprisingly, his head shot up and looked directly at me.

"Todoroki? Is that you?" He called and looked around the room. His eyes shined for a moment before going back to it's sad, dull state. Could he actually feel my touch?

"I'm here!" I yelled as I got in front of him. "I'm right here!" I yelled louder, hoping that he would hear me, but he didn't.

Midoriya sighed. "If you are here, I wish you didn't leave me so soon. I miss you." He said.

My heart broke at what he said. I kneeled down in front of him. "No, no, baby! I never left you! I miss you too!" I felt like I was talking to a wall. He didn't show any more signs of knowing that I'm here.

"I want to see you again." Midoriya whimpered and started crying again. I put my hand on his. "However, I know you're happy where you are. You're finally free." He showed a sad smile.

I felt so bad for leaving him. I realized how selfish I was for leaving him like I did. I was only thinking of myself and not about how he would feel.

"I'm terribly sorry, Midoriya. You know I love you, more than anything and I never intended for you to be in this much pain." I said sincerely. "This isn't the freedom I want. I want to be with you!" I raised my voice like he could hear me. Suddenly, Midoriya got up and wiped his tears.

"It's time for me to let go." He said.

My heart completely dropped after hearing this. Suddenly, I saw a bright light appear beside me. "No, not yet." I muttered to myself. "I can't go just yet!" I ran to Midoriya who was standing at the door.

"I can't keep doing this to myself or my friends. I need to let go so we both can be happy."

"Midoriya!"

"I won't forget you Todoroki."

Then, he left the room, leaving me by myself.

Before walking into the bright light, I made sure I saw Midoriya smile one last time. It did seem like he was happy with all of his friends, but I knew he wouldn't stay that way. Therefore I went to the person who could possibly give him what I gave him.

"Be kind to him, Bakugou. Try not to hurt him while I'm gone, okay?" I whispered in his ear. I took one last look at everyone and left, for good this time.
