Song of the Chapter: "The Book of You and I" by Alec Benjamin
{What're some other groups you listen to outside of Stray Kids?}
-----------------------------
Chan gave up thrashing against the bars ten minutes after he was thrown into the holding cell. He gave up trying to pick the lock three hours after that. He gave up trying to convince the police that he needed to be let out two hours after he arrived.
Normally, he would have given up entirely by now and waited for his parents or his friends to bail him out and pick him up but Felix was in trouble and needed him.
He wasn't about to just sit there, on that rust-smelling slab of a bed to feel sorry for himself while his beloved boyfriend was being tortured in some mental institution that his ex-best friend had thrown him into.
"That psychotic motherfucker."
His words were kept to himself and he wondered just how stupid Minho must be. He wondered what happened between the two of them for him to think Felix was some psycho person who would hurt him.
The more he thought about it, the more he started to ponder what Minho had done before the two of them had gotten together.
What could Minho possibly know about Felix from the past that he didn't know?
He started pacing around when there was a knock on the bars of the door. Chan's head perked up to see that the cops were unlocking the door and opening it.
"The family isn't pressing charges only if you and the other boy resolve your problems," the cop at the door explained to him, "We can drive you over to the hospital to see the boy, he's with the rest of your friends as well."
Chan nodded and thanked the man, picking up his coat and walking out of the door.
The cop was curious, and the drive across Seoul would be long, so he decided to let Chan sit in the front seat with him and question what had made him beat someone senseless.
-------------------
It wasn't until three in the afternoon Chan had gotten to the hospital, explaining everything in a matter of an hour to the officer, whose name and information had been given to him just in case something like this happened again.
The cop, although he wasn't exactly on the side of Korea looking ahead with broken social norms, encouraged Chan everything would work out and Felix would be free soon.
Chan climbed the stairs, wanting to take as long as he possibly could to get to Minho, but it didn't seem to be calming him down at all.
Instead, Chan found himself getting more and more frustrated with Minho with every step he took.
Fifteen years of friendship, down the drain, for what?
Jealousy?
Because he didn't like Felix?
Each footfall led him closer and closer to the door where his friends were talking with each other and Minho and Jeongin made his heart hurt even more.
When he reached the door, he was struggling to open the door to walk in. Why was he even here?
So he could pretend everything with Minho was fine so he wouldn't end up in court for assault and battery charges?
Minho did something requiring Chan to beat him up for, he had interfered with one of the only things truly making the elder smile.
And who knows?
