Song of the Chapter: "right here" by keshi
(When we were younger)
---------------------------------------
Chan knew Minho was driving a wedge between himself and Felix, it was so directly obvious he wanted to strangle Minho. Every time he even hinted he wanted to hang out with Felix for a bit, Minho would come up with something Seungmin played right along with.
The two hated that Chan was close to Felix and Chan hated them for driving Felix away. Every day he saw Felix in class, he seemed less and less joyful.
Despite not knowing the truth, it was obvious to Chan Felix must be reverting back to the Felix from before.
"You know, there is a carnival downtown this Friday. I was thinking we could go," Minho commented as the group of friends sat in a burger restaurant, "What do you guys think?"
Jisung agreed happily, Changbin blindly agreed and Seungmin and Hyunjin were indifferent to the idea, as long as they were together.
Seungmin turned to Chan, who sat at the head of the table, one foot up on the seat to his right and picking at the fries lay in the red plastic basket. He hadn't been paying attention for the last ten minutes, instead of staring off into space with one hand knuckle-deep in French fries and the other playing with the pop socket on the back of his phone.
"Channie hyung?" Seungmin called, waving his hand in front of Chan's face.
The elder blinked hard and asked "What?" as he noticed the group was looking at him.
Seungmin repeated the idea.
Chan shook his head.
"I was planning to study tonight since I actually have to pass my math class to graduate university instead of dropping out," Chan spoke jokingly, the group relaxing.
Minho and Seungmin exchanged relieved looks at the reply, somehow happy to know their Channie would be working hard tonight instead of ditching them to be with Felix again.
It had been almost three months, it should be around this time Felix was starting to fade in Chan's memory. The faster, the better, was their resolution.
Chan then pushed the food away, complaining of the strenuous amount of homework he had to do, and took his phone and backpack as he left the restaurant.
Did he lie to his friends?
Yes.
But were they trustworthy?
As of right now, no.
They were so adamantly against Felix and yet their reasoning behind their actions left Chan thinking they only didn't want to be around Felix because they'd grown up with the notion in their head Felix is weird, so he must be bad.
He walked quickly, striding past the library easily and finding himself soon standing in the elevator on his way up to Felix's apartment.
His heartbeat. This time, he didn't ignore it, closing his eyes in content at the feeling and leaning back against the wall of the elevator.
"Is this what bliss feels like?" he murmured to himself, the smile stretching across his face as he placed his hand on his heart. He could feel it beating hard, he could feel a slight ache from the overworking of the muscles, and he loved it.
The elevator dinged open, Chan letting himself fall back down to earth and open his eyes when he was met with a sight that was worrying to him.
Two police officers were talking outside in the hallway, while there were two people standing in black pants and a white button-up uniformed shirt in front of a small pile of clothes on the floor.
