I normally don't do this so this feels a little....odd but it's okay.
I wanted to say a few things before I well and truly finished this book.
1) I am not in this book or in others romanticizing the idea or fact of mental illness.
For this book specifically, I wanted to raise awareness for the fact that schizophrenia isn't a disease. It's something you are born with but it isn't the same for everyone. Those who learn to control and are willing to get help with their disorder can be walking on the streets of cities and towns today, maybe even sitting next to you on an airplane. Just because you have a mental disorder doesn't mean you're worth anything less to this world than I am.
If you would like to talk about certain points that are triggering to you, my private messaging is always open. But please do not make this a negative place. We can talk it over like reasonable adults and I will change some things if we come to an agreement.
I got the inspiration for this book from a TED talk and I'll post it in here for those of you that would like to watch it (which I highly recommend you do).
It's titled "I Am Not A Monster: Schizophrenia" by Cecelia McGough and was given at a Ted Talk convention in 2017.
2) I really can't understand the amount of support people have given this.I got a wave of notifications lately: someone following me, others binge reading this books and even others. But the one that hit me the most had to be someone else promoting me.
I've never had that happen before but I appreciate it, really and truly, and because I didn't ask you, I'm going to leave you anonymous. You're welcome to talk to me later so I can add you in if you'd like.
3) Thank you for supporting this, and me.
I remember when I started this book and I was so nervous because I was worried what people might say if they read it. Worse, if they passed it over thinking it was not good enough based on the read, votes and comments.
There is one specific person I would like to thank because you were the first that I think gave me a chance with this (or at least the first that spoke up).
Aloser4gayshiz, you were the most supportive reader I had first and I can't help but thank you. I'm totally throwing you under the bus while keeping the last person anonymous but really, I wanted to cry when I saw someone voted and commented all in the same day, on every single chapter. And when you replied to a reply of my comments? Made my day (#StanDay6).
4) Like I said before, my private messaging is always open. Don't make this book a negative environment for other people.
That's really all that I have to say, besides thanking you again and happy holidays (since I'm publishing this on Christmas Eve).
