Chapter 23

Weeks kept passing by, and the whole controversy didn't seem to want to die. Jaeun felt horrible about it, but thankfully Taemin's career hadn't ended. He was still very much a member of SHINee. That, Jaeun was thankful for. If she had been the reason for his dismissal from the group... man, she probably wouldn't be able to forgive herself.

A lot of Taemin's fans had been upset, even angry at the news. But a large part had also been supportive. Jaeun had been scared that they wouldn't have gotten ANY support whatsoever, but that fear had quickly been proven wrong.

At the moment, Taemin was sitting on the couch in the dorm's living room. His expression was somewhat dark as he thought about what he would do about everything... he obviously felt as if he had messed up really bad. SO many of his fans had turned on him the past weeks that he really didn't know what to do. If he lost fans, it meant that SHINee overall would lose fans, which in itself meant that album sales would go down when that time would come.

It felt silly worrying about album sales, but that was one of the ways they were making money. He needed to make money, especially since he now had Jaeun, and a baby that would soon come. Jaeun's due date was coming closer and closer, too quickly for his comfort. Taemin was excited, of course he was... but he was also scared. A whole new life that he and Jaeun would have to care for... who wouldn't be scared? It was a huge responsibility.

But nevertheless, he was ready to love their child. Their little son.

Jaeun was restlessly walking around the kitchen while Key was making dinner. Her thoughts were still set on the events happening the last few weeks. The press conference, the whole controversy, just... everything. She felt so guilty.

Key was aware of how worried the girl was. God, she really needed something to get her mind off things. "Hey, Jaeun?" He said. "Can you help me cut these vegetables?"

Jaeun froze in her tracks, and slowly moved her gaze up to look at the male. "Vegetables... ah, sure. Of course." A small smile appeared on Jaeun's face as she walked up to stand beside Key. She began slowly chopping up the vegetables he had given her. "So... have you guys decided on a name for the baby?" Key asked softly.

Jaeun bit her lip. "Well... I was thinking of Daesung since it's gonna be a boy and all, but Taemin wasn't really fond of that I guess?" She explained. "He was like, 'No, people will think we named him after BIGBANG's Daesung!'" Jaeun chuckled. "Taemin can be really silly at times, don't you think?"

To that, Key agreed. He had known Taemin for so may years now that he had lost track of all the times the male had done weird stuff. First of all forgetting his phone in the fridge, doing all kinds of weird things with Kai... not to mention his behavior on stage. "Daesung is a nice name though." Key said. "Right?! That's what I have been saying to Taemin, but he keeps going on and on about how people will think we named him after BIGBANG's Daesung... god, it's actually kinda stupid."

Key smiled at the female beside him. She seemed to have forgotten her worries at least for a small amount of time. "Ah, I'm done cutting the veggies." Jaeun commented as she pointed to the vegetables. "Oh, that's good! Thank you for helping me!" Key smiled. "I'll call you over if I need anymore help, alright? You should go sit down for now at least. You've been pacing the kitchen for a while now."

Jaeun simply nodded, smiling right back at him. "Alright." She then made her way into the living room where she saw Taemin relaxing on the couch. He seemed deep in thought. "Hey, babe." She muttered. Jaeun sat down beside the male, and laid her head onto his shoulder. "How are you doing?"

Taemin glanced down at the female who was now sitting beside him. "I'm okay for now at least. And you? You seem kinda pale." He felt her forehead, and then gentle pecked it. "Meanie, I'm always pale. Are you saying I look sick?"Jaeun quickly sat up and stared at him for a few seconds as a joke. "No, I'm not- you just seemed paler than usual. That's all."

Taemin went back to relaxing, hardly responding to Jaeun's joke. A small pout appeared on Jaeun's face as she felt a little hurt that he didn't respond well to the joke. "Ah... are you still bothered by the whole controversy...?" She muttered. Taemin didn't respond at first, but he nodded slightly before curling into her. "I just feel so guilty now that it's out... I mean... my fans are upset with me..."

To this, Jaeun frowned. "Hey... what's done is done. There's no use in worrying about the past." She muttered. She slowly moved a hand up to begin to gently play around with his hair. Somehow, that really relaxed both her and him. "Not that I'm not worrying either, but you should try and relax a little at least."

Taemin nodded at her words. It almost seemed like the male didn't care, although he did. His expression was just so dull, that it made that impression. "Taemin? Let's watch a movie or something after dinner. I think we both need something to distract ourselves."

Having to distract oneself from ones issues could be considered toxic by a lot of people, and in a lot of ways it is... but Jaeun really needed this. They both did.

She needed something to get her mind off things. Something where she could simply relax together with her husband, and maybe talk; or maybe simply relax together. Anything was okay.

After dinner, the two of them made their way to the bedroom after they had thanked Key for dinner of course. Jaeun was so tired, and she was excited to finally be able to relax. But the thought of finding a name for their son suddenly grazed her mind once more. "... Taemin?" She said, earning a soft hum from Taemin.

"What's up?" Jaeun hesitated in bringing it up again. They had talked it over a lot, so she was incredibly unsure if she should even mention it. "Names..." She muttered. "Names? For what?"

Jaeun raised an eyebrow at Taemin's question. Really? He really just asked 'for what?' when she was asking about names?

"Taemin, what do you mean for what- the baby of course!" After a short while of keeping herself serious, Jaeun burst out laughing. "God, you're so dumb at times!"

"Yeah? But to my defense, you said it in such a way that I wasn't even sure. Tsk..." He chuckled. "But hey, how about we wait until after the birth to name him?" He suggested. "Then we'll be able to take a good look on his little face, and see which name we think suits him the most." To this, Jaeun nodded. That actually sounded like a reasonable thing to do.

Taemin walked over to the bed, and threw himself onto it. Jaeun followed right after, but she was a lot more careful than Taemin was. She reached over to grab the small TV's remote that was laying on the bedside table, and made herself comfortable in the arms of her husband.

Just like that, they continued relaxing.

Jaeun was comfortable like this.

She would seriously never consider changing this for anything.
