Your POV

It's been a good few years since I last saw Katie, we've texted occasionally but we've been so busy we were drifting apart....

I remember back when we'd always stick to each other, tell each other almost anything....

~flashback~

"(Y/N)! I wanted to give this!"

I looked up from writing my diary entry, I quickly shut it and asked her

"What is it?"

It was one half of a heart on a chain, it said 'friends', she giggled, making my heart melt.

"It's a friendship necklace!"

She went behind me, slipping the necklace on my neck, the slight contact with her fingertips made my heart race, I breathed in and out so I could calm down, these were one of the things I didn't tell Katie, my undying love for her....

When she finished, she went in front of me and held her half of the heart that said 'best', I held mine up, connecting it with hers, she smiled brightly whilst I did the same.

"We'll be together, forever"

I smile

"Forever..."

~flashback~

I decided to plan a hangout, just Katie and me, even after all those years, I still had feelings for her, I had to tell her. Even if she'll reject me....

We decided to meet at my place, I gave her my address and it went on from that.

Time skip

The doorbell rang, I jumped from my couch, I was dressed casually, I didn't wanna dress up too much, after all, she may just friendzone me. As I walk to my door, I opened it and once I saw a glimpse of her, a grin had spread across my face.

But once I widened the door, my smile lessened.

It was another man, but I forced myself to smile. I let them in, my throat began to itch, I felt like crying, I coughed to cover it up.

As I walked to the living room only to be tackled by Katie.

"I missed you ssoooo much!", she said, I hugged her back, smiling

"Missed you too!", I grinned

We finally sat down, on one side, Katie and her new partner, then the other side was me.

"So, who's the lucky fellow?"

"The name's Lance", Lance smirked and stuck a hand out for me to shake, I shook it and smiled, trying to hide my pain

"How long?"

"Oh, we've been together since college!"

"It's been that long?!", I jokingly scoffed, Katie giggled in return

"Seems so because...."

She started whispering to him, then after a minute they nodded

They both took a deep breath and yelled

"WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!", they both cheered, startling me

"And you! Just got yourself an invitation!", I laughed, happy she had her life planned out

"I gonna go to the bathroom, I had a hell of water", I chuckled

They laughed and started to converse with each other and I rushed to the bathroom, I quickly shut and lock the door.

I slide down to the cold bathroom floor, I let out all the tears I hadn't known I was keeping, I cover my mouth so that they can't hear me.

It hurts, it hurts so much, and never even got to tell....

I press my ear against the door, to hear them laughing

"Lance! You idiot!"

"But I'm your idiot~"

I shook my head and buried my face in my knees.

After awhile, I look up and stare at the wall.

I felt something cold on my chest. I traced my fingers around the area, until I felt something metallic.

I look down at the necklace I was wearing, it was the friendship necklace.

Grabbing hold of it, I rub my thumb on it, the times where I wore this on very special occasions, just for her.

With the half heart in my hand, I balled my hand in a fist.

The hair tucked behind my ear fell in front of my face, I felt out fresh tears came running down my cheeks.

I take a deep breath and opened my fist, I eyed the necklace

"Guess I'm nothing more than just, your friend...."
