Aurora headed down the stairs slowly, her head seeming to spin. She was having dizziness lately more often than usual. It was only here and there, but now it seems to happen every day.

She walked into the kitchen to Alec's upper half body in the refrigerator. He was shuffling things around, glasses clinking and bags moving around.

"Are you heading out tonight again?"

Alec turned to Aurora, startled by her voice.

"I didn't hear you awake. You're getting better at that," he said, chuckling a bit and retreating from the fridge. Then he continued, "To answer your question, yes I am leaving, but it's going to be for a few more nights. Thomas needs me to do some medical attention outside of town. Someone is critically injured, and they said that it would be a great lesson for me."

Aurora slightly smiled and nodded her head. She never got to spend time with Alec. He assisted in nursing, or even medical attention, all over Virginia. She never really complained because he was able to get enough blood for the both of them.

"I know they are trying to keep me close to town Aurora, but if I don't move up in medical stages, who knows what's going to happen. No one ever needs someone to just be here and there. They need someone right on the job. This is why I'm doing this. To make it up, I'll bring home your favorite blood bag. O negative, right?"

Aurora nodded with a better smile. Alec always knew how to make up to her, even if he was always away.

"Alec, I had that dream again, but this time, I was heading toward our old house, and he came out of nowhere."

Alec looked at Aurora with gentle eyes. He bit his bottom lip and thought for a moment. When his thoughts evaporated from his mind, he spoke them, "Maybe that night just scarred your memory Aurora. Look, you're a half vampire, meaning you're going to have normal human reactions too, emotion being one of them. Being a full vampire, you can close all of your emotions and not worry about it. Aurora, my offer-"

"No, I don't want to lose my some-what normal life. This is why we are here Alec. I want a normal life away from all this evil and curse."

Alec only nodded and looked away. Aurora sighed in dissatisfaction. Alec had offered to turn her for years because of the nightmares she lives from her past, but she did not want it. She wanted to try for a normal life.

"I put a whole stock of blood bags in the refrigerator for you. I didn't know how bad your hunger would get. I just hope you don't try to 'bully' another girl this time at school."

Aurora laughed a bit. Last year, during her sophomore year, her bloodlust was so bad that she could not control it. She had chased a girl through the halls, trying to tear her pulsing vein open. The girl just proclaimed it as bullying. So, Aurora got suspended from school for a while, but Alec just pulled her out.

"Are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to go back to school Aurora."

"I'm sure," Aurora replied, looking at her brother with a gentle expression. "You have trained me to be better. I've been around numerous people, and the urges cut back."

"That's good," he replied, a smile gently forming at his lips. "Do you need me to drive you?"

"No, thank you. Grace is going to pick me up."

Aurora did not always know how they all became friends. Grace was a girl that cared about style, popularity, and boys. Aurora was the person to lay back and do her own thing. She never really cared about how people judged her.

"Well, it's a school night, so if you're going to be out late tonight, please be safe and home by midnight. I know how girls your age are and-"

"Alec, it's okay. I will more than likely be coming home after school anyway. Yeah, I haven't seen Grace since I was pulled out of school, but I still would rather stay home."
