"Mommy, look!" The sweet child's voice exclaimed as he stood high in a tree.
A small laugh echoed through the trees as she watched her baby boy climb as fast as she has ever seen him.
"You're doing great Zachariah!"
Zachariah stopped halfway from one branch to the other, looking down at his mother's face. He smiled softly, then continued his way up the tree.
Once his tiny legs landed on the highest limb, he looked down to yell at his mother once again.
His mouth came to a pause as he seen his father approach his mother. His hearing was still not at its full function, but his father's motion and angered look worried Zachariah.
He hopped down to another branch, one by one, and as he did, words started to form.
"You never want to take my side Casaundra! This is finally it! And you want to throw it away for our family? Think of what this could be for all of us!"
"No, Damian!"
Zachariah had never heard his mother shout as she did. He could tell she was in a state of frustration.
His tiny legs hit the ground, making a thud sound. Both Casaundra and Damian looked at him. Casaundra stretched her hand out toward Zachariah, pleading with her eyes for him to take it.
"Come on, sweetie. It's time for lunch anyway."
...............
Zachariah's red eyes glared into those of Damian's. Damian only softly smiled, not even struggling to fight back.
"You fell for the girl, haven't you boy?"
Zachariah didn't answer. He kept his strength pushing toward Damian, hoping to figure out a plan in the meantime. He knew he couldn't fight off his father. He was a greatly powerful vampire who had been around for centuries.
Zachariah let off of his grip, placing his hands to the side. Damian only stood in place, watching his son carefully.
"You've become too soft-hearted, though there's no heart in that cold chest of yours."
He poked at Zachariah's chest, laughing along the way.
"You used to be so much better. You used to be a killer. I used to claim you as my son. Now, look at you: falling for half-vampires who won't even live past 20. Do you realize how many vampires that weren't apart of The Forgotten Forest are after her? You stand no chance of rebelling against us."
Zachariah snarled at Damian's words. His fists clenched, and he bit his tongue, the taste of blood filling his mouth.
"She never asked for this life. You only want her for her powers. You don't care that she has a life ahead of her. You are a selfish monster, and it has wrecked your dead heart so bad, that now your own family wants nothing to do with you."
Damian eyed his son, circling around him. "You know, you better prepare for what's coming to you. I'll leave the poor girl alone, for now."
With those words, Damian vanished without a trace of where he went. Zachariah placed a hand on the wall, his breaths becoming short.
"Aurora.."
........
Aurora tried calling Alec again but failed to even get a ring. His voicemail kept going over.
She hung up the phone, tears in her eyes. She knew she was in danger, and she knew she wasn't safe alone anymore.
Aurora looked around, familiarizing her surroundings. She wasn't too far from Grace's house. Maybe a 10 minute walk, and she couldn't find the energy to run. She just had to play it safe.
