"Aurora, you have to get out of bed. You have missed three days of school, and you refuse to talk to anyone."

Alec stood over Aurora's bed as she cradled her covers. Ever since her bullying incident, she felt weak and scared. She did not know what she was more afraid of: Miranda, or the fact that she ended up in her own room.

"Alec, I do not wish to go to school. I am not welcome there because I am different; I am a vampire that does not belong in the real world."

"Do not say that Aurora. Ever since we moved here, that's all you have wanted; you wanted a normal life. Now that it is given to you, you no longer want it. What is all of this really about?"

Aurora bit her lip at his question. Alec knew nothing of her being bullied, and she had planned to keep it that way.

"There has just been a lot on my mind lately. I do not know what brought it up, but it is here, and it is here to stay."

"Well, you still need to attend school. If you do not, then we are going to have people all over us about it."

Aurora sighed and forced herself up. She only did it for Alec's sake, not her own.

"I will be downstairs in about 15 minutes."

Alec nodded and headed to the door, closing it behind him.
Aurora sighed. She did not want to face school. Her face was still battered from the incident. She did not want to face the life of high school.

Her mind was still wondering about who brought her to her house. It could not have been Miranda, due to the fact that she was the one that scarred her face.

Aurora brushed the thought out of her mind. She could not think of that at the moment. She needed to get ready and be prepared for a day of questions and false answers.

Aurora walked up the steps to her hell of school. There was not a student in sight because she was late.

She walked through the two large doors, not knowing what to do. She did not want to enter a classroom where she would be asked numerous questions.

She took a turn down a narrow hall where the girls' bathroom was located. She did not know what she was going to do for the time being, but she knew she was not ready to be out in the real world.

"Zachariah, do not do this! Do you know what could happen to you?"

Aurora stopped in her tracks. The voice had belonged to Ms. Lyruns.

"Why not? I am done with this mother! He does nothing but harms. I can stop this. I-"

"No Zachariah! I will not deal with this! Stop this nonsense before I-"

"Before you what mother? Abandon me once again? I come here seeing that you have moved here as well, and for what purpose?"

Aurora inched closer to the door. She pressed her back to the chilled wall, watching from both ends of the hall.

"If you honestly want to protect him, then why leave him? Why leave me with the devil himself? Mom, she's innocent."

"You have fallen for her, haven't you son? Your father was right. You are weak at heart."

"No, I haven't! She did not choose to be in this position! She does not deserve this!"

Aurora heard a loud slap after that. Silence seemed to fill the halls. Aurora did not know who hit whom, but she hoped Zachariah did not hit his own mother.

"Do not ever say that again Zachariah. Now, get out of my face."

Aurora pushed herself up off of the wall. She ran quietly down the hall and took a sharp turn. She pushed herself against the lockers and held her breath.
