Aurora laid silently in her bed facing the window with her back to the door. Her mind was racing with a million thoughts, especially the conversation she had with Alec.

.........

"Aurora, as you know, you're not like any other vampire. You're very special, especially to vampire kind."

Alec paused for a brief moment, trying to catch the words off of his tongue. Aurora didn't say a word; she only wished to listen.

"Half vampires are important to us full-blooded vampires because your blood is rare. You technically have had a high bounty on your head since the day you were transformed into a half-blood. Vampires that we grew up around did not care about that. They loved you as if you were their family.
I also understand that your blood can give us full-bloods all immunity. The sun wouldn't be a problem, our thirst quench for blood would never occur, and many more things we are weak to. Father told me this story a few months before the tragedy. It's a long binding spell that would kill you in the process. You pretty much need a warlock and the vampire would drain you of all of your blood. "

Aurora held up her hand to stop him from continuing his story. She shouldn't have even asked, or she could of at least told him to take the story slowly.

"I'm heading to bed. We can finish this story another time, but right now, that's enough information to last me a week."

She pushed herself out from beneath the table and started for the stairs. She didn't hear anyone try to come after her, nor did they speak a word. Aurora was relieved that they understood to leave her alone.

.........

Aurora clutched the pillow she had been holding close to her chest. Why me? What have I ever done to deserve this life?

She then remembered Alec's offer. She could end it all, and become full-blooded, but that would mean giving up what normal life she had.

There came a soft knock at the door. Aurora laid silently, not moving a muscle. The door creaked open and Aurora could tell someone stepped forward.

"Aurora, are you awake?" The voice belonged to Alec, but she was in no mood to talk to anyone.

Alec stood there for a few seconds, waiting for a response from her. When he realized he wasn't receiving one, he walked out, closing the door behind him.

Aurora lifted her head and looked behind her, only to find her door closed in the dark room. She placed her head back on her pillow and slowly, her eyes began to close.

Aurora woke up to the sound of small raindrops on her window. It was slowly starting to rain. She fluttered her eyes and looked at her clock. 2:43. That's strange for it to rain in the middle of winter right after it has snowed.

She rubbed the sleepiness out of her eyes and arose from her bed. The rain seemed to be getting heavier, and the wind even started to sound. Aurora swung her feet to the edge of the bed and placed them on the cold floor.

She picked herself up out of bed and walked to the window. Trees were being blown around as the rain poured on them. The streets were abandoned, even from cars, until a figure appeared underneath one of the street lights.

It was a boy wearing a black hoodie with the hood propped up. He was slim and looked to be a teenager. Do I go to school with him?
