Leaves fell all around, their colors dancing with the wind. Aurora watched as one leaf danced with another, then fell to her side. Her midnight black hair laid gently on her shoulders and back, protecting her neck from the cool breeze of Autumn. Autumn: Aurora's favorite season of the year.

She really could not tell where she was going. Her destination was a place so forgotten now, that she almost forgot where it was located. It was a place where she grew up with her family, but all was ruined on a cruel night.

About seven years before, when Aurora was only eight years of age, vampires seized to exist it seemed. They all were slayed, but herself and her older brother Alec. Many vampires believed it to be of their own kind, because not many humans ever reached the part of the forest where vampires hid. Others believed someone with the desire of vampire blood came in and had a murder fest. Aurora did not know which side was right, or even if any side was right. She never thought about who did it. All she ever thought about on that dreadful night was her Father, who was brutally killed in front of her eyes.

"Hurry Aurora!" Alec commanded as he rushed her in a closet. "Daddy!" she yelled, reaching out in tears for her father, Kayden. Kayden brushed Aurora's hair back as she stood at the door of the closet.

"Honey, please stay with your brother Alec, and whatever may may happen, do not scream. You have got to be a strong girl for me. I love you Aurora."

He gently kissed her head and hugged her tightly. In a soft voice, she replied, "I love you too Daddy."

Alec grabbed onto Aurora's shoulders and lead her to the back of the closet. He closed the door slightly, keeping it cracked a bit. It was enough to see the front door.

Suddenly, the door came crashing in, Kayden looking over at the intruder. Aurora could see the intruder, and she could even detail his face. His cheeks were broad, and his features almost seemed perfect. His brown hair complimented his light brown eyes. He looked too good to be an intruder.

"You know why I'm here," he said, his accent throwing his words crisp and perfect.

"You will not get as you desire," Kayden said, moving ever so slowly in front of the door, blocking Aurora's view.

Silence crept around the room, tempting Aurora to say something, but she had to remain quiet for the sake of her father.

"Then maybe I'll force it out of you."

Suddenly, Aurora could see through the opening again. The intruder had Kayden pinned to the floor, his body weight shifted onto his.

Kayden pushed him back and stood up with great speed. He grabbed the man's shirt and threw him across the room. Glass shattered as if a gun had been shot. Aurora jumped in her skin, Alec pulling her closer to him.

Suddenly, shards were being thrown at Kayden, but he was able to dodge them. Then, the intruder came after him next.

Kayden was thrown into the wall, his body falling to a table that was now in half. The intruder pulled something out of his back pocket, but Aurora could not tell what it was.

Then, it gleamed in the light as if it had just been shined. It was a knife. The blade was at least six inches long, and the point was sharp with rough ridges. That was when reality hit Aurora: he was going to kill her father!

Aurora leaped up out of Alec's arms and tried to rush out to save her father, but Alec pulled her back and covered her mouth.

"Aurora, no! You will be killed if you go out there!" he whispered with a mighty tone. Aurora had tears in her eyes. She did not want to witness her father's death.
