CHAPTER DEDICATED TO — oakvilleyutes! — 90k? i feel like i'm hallucinating. i cannot describe how grateful i am! —
hayden had invited lauren over at his place. afterall, it had been good to spend time with each other the whole summer, because right after, the orlando's would have to go back to canada. so, he figured why not have fun with lauren?
the doorbell had rang, with hayden scurrying down the stairs, excited to see her. opening the door, he smiled, with her smiling back.
"hey lolo!" he exclaimed, still smiling.
"hi hayden." lauren replied, her cheeks heating up a little. while doing so, hayden had been blushing too, with the both of them not being able to maintain eye contact for a few moments.
"come in." hayden said as she stepped inside his house, with him closing the door. "what do you want to do?"
"anything is alright with me." lauren smiled as the both of them walked around the house in random directions.
"hm," hayden thought as lauren copied him.
"mario kart?" hayden questioned as lauren nodded.
mario kart, mario kart. they often played it when they were younger. lauren was always the better one, and hayden would end up throwing a tantrum and not being able to speak with her, with lauren laughing hysterically.
"i'm sure i'll be winning this time." hayden said cockily, setting up the nintendo switch as lauren took her joycon and shook her head.
"you sure about that? that's what you always said when we were younger." lauren smirked as hayden sat down beside her on the couch.
"i guess we'll have to play and see," hayden began. "i've been practicing a lot— and, this is mario kart 8 deluxe, and you haven't played this version yet i suppose."
"we'll see about that!" lauren stated as the character choosing screen had come in on the TV.
"who are you going to pick?" lauren asked.
"i'm choosing the character you always use— waluigi." hayden smirked naughtily as lauren's mouth dropped, her eyes widening by the second.
"how dare you!" lauren exclaimed. "i'll use luigi then."
then, it was loading. the game then started, with hayden being slightly ahead. the both of them were silent due to their concentration.
"i think i've gotten rusty over the years." lauren giggled, with hayden chuckling along with her.
"y'know, i'm hungry. how about i try to cook something?" hayden spoke.
"sure you can!" jimmy had yelled from upstairs, causing lauren to laugh while hayden's upper and lower lip had parted in shock.
"are you really sure you want to cook, hayden?" lauren grinned as hayden nodded acceptingly.
the two of them walked over to the kitchen. lauren sat on an empty counter, while hayden grabbed some ingredients from the pantry. "what are you making?"
"n-no." hayden stuttered, with lauren bursting into laughter.
"hey! every guy needs to watch something sometime! icarly has just been the one for me." hayden complained, while lauren's head went back as she laughed.
"come on, let me cook!" hayden pouted while lauren continued to laugh. "stop!"
"okay, okay, sorry." lauren spoke, finally catching her breath.
after a couple of minutes, hayden had finally finished, serving his dish to lauren and getting some for himself. they both sat down by the table.
"in 5, 4, 3, 2." hayden counted as the both of them bit into their spaghetti tacos, in sync.
moments after, lauren had spat it out, in disgust.
"what? is it bad?" hayden asked as lauren nodded.
"that is horrible. i think you forgot to boil the spaghetti noodles." lauren chuckled.
"whoops!" hayden said.
after doing random stuff like playing frisbee and binging icarly, lauren had to leave.
"hey, i had fun today," lauren smiled. "thank you."
"me too." hayden smiled back, with lauren walking out the door.
"wait!" hayden yelled as lauren turned around. slowly walking up to her, he tucked in a strand of hair behind her ear and cradled her cheek, with hayden closing the gap in between them as his eyes fluttered close while lauren's were wide open, then coming into realization, kissing back and closing her eyes.
