You had fought.
You had won.
Standing with pride over your icy foe, you scanned over the armor of the monster in your wake. You didn't need his help to fight. You were perfectly capable to fighting with your abilities. They ultimately needed work, but Nix could help you train, and Zeke had been with Cole long enough to give you pointers on how to perfect your stance. Zeke had to be an expert on conduits by now, right? He knew so many of them.
You saw a group of bystanders slowly gather around your victory. You leapt down, grinning ear to ear as the mixture of excitement and uncertainty surrounded the air. "Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all night!"
"Reader."
You cringed.
"I won't be here all night."
Glancing over your shoulder at the much more powerful conduit, you felt very certain about one thing.
"I doubt I'll even survive until tonight."
