Chapter 2- Love?

Narrator's (POV)

Two days later after school Cheryl tried to start her car but it just would not turn over. Cheryl slams her hand on her steering wheel when she hears a voice behind her.

"That's not going to help it beautiful." Toni says in a kind of playful voice as she touches Cheryl's shoulder.

"I know that I'm not stupid." Cheryl says to Toni in a VERY sassy tone.

"Geez! Someone is sassy today!" Toni says, "I could tow you home and see what's wrong with your car if you want."

"I'm sorry, but yes I would like that very much."

Toni and Cheryl took her car back to Cheryl's house and Toni began to see what was wrong with Cheryl's car.

"Well," Toni says from under Cheryl's car, "it looks like the starter is out. So you'll have to get a new one put in. I could do it for no charge."

"Oh yes please. I don't think I could find anyone to do it for me."

"Couldn't your parents find someone?" Toni asks.

"I, I, don't have parents..."

"What?! Babe I'm so sorry! What happened? If you don't mind me asking," Toni says to Cheryl with a hint of sadness in her voice. But they both didn't realize what Toni had said.

"It's okay I want to tell you," Cheryl starts to say, "It happened when I was five. My parents and I were driving to New York for vacation when a drunk driver crashed into us. Our car flipped and ran into a tree. My mom and dad died on impact. I only had a slight concussion. So after that incident I got put into the childcare system. When I was 7 I got fostered by a family here in Riverdale. Well it turned out that that family was my aunt and cousins. So I lived with Betty and her family until I was 16 and got emancipated and got my parents' will money and our estate. I moved in here and have been here ever since."

"Oh well I'm so sorry."

"Wait. Did you call me babe?" Cheryl asks Toni because she had just realized what Toni called her.

"Wait I did?" Toni says puzzlingly.

"Yeah but I kind of liked it."

"Oh really?" Toni asks in a seductive voice as she leans towards Cheryl.

(Cheryl's POV)

Toni's lips were so close to mine. I was about to kiss her when Betty walked up and interrupted us.

"OH. MY. GOD." Betty almost screamed with excitement.

My face got red and so did Toni's. I didn't think a person like her could get embarrassed. I scooted away from Toni and Toni got up.

"Um, I'll see ya later Cheryl," Toni said as she gave me a hug. As she hugged me she slipped a small piece of paper into the pocket of my short overalls and whispered to me, "Call me." She winked at me and got in her truck and drove away.

"Sooooooo," Betty says, "Are you and Toni a thing?"

"No. Yes. Maybe. I don't know."

"Well I say go for it. Also I have something to tell you."

"What is it Betty?" I ask.

"I broke up with Jughead."

"WHAT!!!!!!! Why?" I ask shocked out of my mind.

"Because I love someone else."

"WHOOO?!?!?!"

"Veronica Lodge."

"WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? SHE IS CONSTANTLY MEAN TO ME!"

"She is actually really nice. She is just mean because she just wants her dad to love her."

"Well fine but how did Jughead react?"

"He said it was fine because he also likes someone else and he said he's gay," Betty said.

"Well at least it was pretty mutual. Oh shit. What are you gonna tell your mom?" I ask.

"I never thought of that. I really don't want her to react badly to me being a lesbian. But she was fine with you when you came out to us and her. So I don't see why it would be any different."

"Also who did Jug say he liked?"

"He didn't say."

"Do you want me to spend the night and help you tell your mom. We could invite Veronica also and I could invite Toni. We could have a girl's night! Oh this is exciting!" I say very excitingly.

"Yes I would love that! I'll ask V and you ask Toni." Betty says almost squealing.

Cheryl- Hey

Toni-hey beautiful

Cheryl- I was wondering if you want you wanted to have a sleepover at Betty's.

Toni- Ya sure. Who is gonna be there?

Cheryl- Me, you, Betty, and Veronica

Toni- VERONICA!?!?!?!?

Cheryl- ya her and Betty are practically dating

Toni- SHE BROKE UP WITH JUG!?!

Cheryl- It was a mutual breakup. They both figured out they were gay and liked someone else.

Toni- JUG IS GAY!?!?! OMG I am not gonna be the only one now! LOL

Cheryl- ha ha. Well are you gonna come?

Toni- ya I'll see you tonight love 

Cheryl- see ya tonight!❤

"Betty, Toni is in."

"So is Veronica."

"Let's go to your house now then," I say to Betty.
