The Return of Newt Scamander (Book #1, A Newtina Fanfiction)

Chapter 2

(Tina P.O.V)

Newt and Tina climbed down into Newts shed. Newt got to the bottom first and offered a hand to Tina to help her down from the ladder. She gratefully took it and let him help her down.

"Dougal and the occamy's have missed you."

"Really?" Tina asked. She never expected in a million years that Newt Scamander's creatures, of all people, would miss her.

"Yes. Come on. Grab that pail of mooncalf pellets and follow me." Newt gestured to a metal pail sitting next to the shed door and grabbed a different pail with meat in it and walked out of the shed. Tina grabbed the pail Newt had gestured to and followed him out the door. Even though Tina had been down in his case before, she still couldn't get over the pure magic that seemed to glow from Newt's case and creatures. Tina watched as Newt called for the graphorns and started to feed them the meat he was carrying.

"Would you go and feed the mooncalves for me?" Newt pointed to a habitat with a scene of a night sky with a full moon.

"Yeah, sure." Tina started to walk towards the habitat and when she got there, tons of mooncalves came an surrounded her waiting for their food. She grabbed a handful of mooncalf pellets and threw them towards the mooncalves. They floated as the mooncalves hopped up and down eating the pellets. Tina smiled. They are so cute. When she double-checked that every mooncalf had gotten fed, she went and walked over to Newt, who was talking to Pickett.
"No, Pickett, I can't do that. What if she-" Newt was interrupted by Pickett making his squeaky noises, protesting about something which Newt seemed to understand. Newt hesitated to respond, but finally said "Pickett..." More squeaky noises. "Yes, yes, I completely agree, she's be-" Newt stopped talking as soon as he saw Tina.

"What are you two talking about?" Tina asked curiously. Newt started to blush a deep red and said,
"Erm... nothing... nothing at all..." Newt avoided Tina's gaze and stared at Pickett with an annoyed expression on his face.

"Okay... I finished feeding the mooncalves as you asked."

"Oh, thank you. I'll take that." Newt grabbed the pail Tina was holding and set it down near other pails. "Would you like to see Dougal and the occamy's now?" Tina's smile grew wide.

"I would love to!" Tina exclaimed. Newt started walking towards the occamy's nest and Tina followed.
"If you don't mind me asking, why were you so mad when you came into your apartment tonight?" Oh no. Tina thought. I totally forgot about that. When I saw Newt, he made it go all away.

"I... um... it was just something that happened at work..." Should I tell him? I don't want him to be jealous... Tina remembered what happened. Just before she was leaving work, one of her coworkers, Gavin, tried asking her out. When she had said no, he tried to grab her arm and apparate away. She was furious about this and stunned him and ran away. When she had seen Newt, sitting at her kitchen table, she has instantly forgotten what had happened, she was just so happy to see him. Then again... he probably doesn't feel that way. "It was just one of my coworkers, he tried to ask me out." Tina saw Newt's face slightly twist with jealousy. Oh, that was the wrong thing to tell him... "But I said no and stunned him," Tina said quickly, trying to fix what she had said. She left out the part when he had tried to grab her, she didn't want Newt to be upset.

"Oh," Newt said, his face going back to normal. They arrived at the occamy's nest and Tina visited Dougal for a few minutes before coming over to the occamy's nest. Newt was feeding them and whispering "Mummy's here, mummy's here." He cares so much for his creatures, Tina thought. He's so cute when he takes care of them... wait. What am I thinking? He probably doesn't feel the same way as I do. Stupid Tina... Tina was interrupted from her thoughts as Newt asked, "Would you like to hold one?" Really? He wants me to hold one?

"Of course!" Tina said a little to excitedly, causing her to blush slightly. Newt picked up and occamy and handed it to Tina. It slithered and curled up in Tina's hands.

"That's the occamy you caught in the Macy's department store."
"Really? She's beautiful." Tina stared at the occamy. It really was beautiful, it had a blue body with a mix of purple and pink among it. The occamy started to slither around, so Tina let Newt take her and put her in her nest. Tina still remembered the day when she caught the occamy in the teapot.

Jacob threw the roach bug to Tina from across the room. She ran towards it, jumping over the occamy's body while it chased the roach bug. She caught the bug in the teapot and saw the occamy charging towards the teapot where the bug had gone. She put her head down, waiting for impact. She looked up and saw the tail disappear into the teapot and Newt rushed over and slammed a top over the teapot. She could hear the sound of the occamy crunching on the bug. Tina smiled at the memory. It was a very stressful moment, but in the end, they were able to catch the occamy and return it safely into Newts' case.

"Tina?"

"What? Sorry, just thinking."

"I asked if you would like to see a new creature I got."

"Yes, of course!"

"Alright follow me." Newt went down a few steps with Tina right behind him. Tina went a little to fast however and tripped over her feet.

"Ah!" Newt turned around just in time to see Tina falling towards him. He tried to catch her, but it caused both of them to fall on the ground.

"Oof!" Tina heard Newt say. Tina groaned and looked up. Mercy Lewis! Tina and Newt both blushed deeply when they realized what happened. Tina had fallen and landed on top of Newt and now they were both on the floor in that awkward position.

"Oh my, Mercy Lewis I'm so sorry Newt!" Tina hurriedly tried to get off of Newt, but in her quick movements, she slipped and fell back down on him again.

"Erm... it's ok... erm... it was an accident." They were both blushing madly when they heard Queenie's voice from Newt's shed,
"Hey, you guys! I'm back and dinner is ready! Come up here and eat!" Tina got up more slowly this time, making sure she wouldn't slip and fall again. Mercy Lewis, that was embarrassing... Tina thought, still blushing over what has just happened.

"We better go upstairs so Queenie doesn't become suspicious..."

"Erm... yeah..." Newt was also still blushing.

"Let's go."
