  hello there! joy here :>

thanks for reading ‘remember’; i cannot thank you enough. it is a story that i have been considering for some time now, but never got down to it because of circumstances.

the plot twist was supposed to reveal that alexis’ love interest was a girl, explaining my lack of usage of gender pronouns till the revelation.

well, i don’t think that it was much of a revelation, anyway. more observant readers might have noticed sooner :/ good job to y’all though! (i see, you goldfish)

my main point in writing this is to address my firm, very firm, belief to not slap labels on love, and that love can be experienced by everyone.

sounds lame, maybe, but i’m proud of my beliefs :)

if you’d allow me, i will elaborate more on the origin and significances of the story which i hope that you will read in order to understand my point further!

M E A N I N G.

first off, this story might be a bit difficult to understand. mostly because this story is stuffed full with metaphors and i don’t think i’d be able to stuff any more, lest it bursts into a cacophany of ideas that will definitely not make sense whatsoever.

i’d have loved to write it in a way more understandable to readers, but i’m afriad this is the most reader-friendly i can make it :/

nevertheless, i appreciate you carrying on with this regardless, because it’s a story that i have tattooed on my heart, but did not find the courage to tell it till encouragement from friends.

it is indeed fiction, and will continue to remain so.

secondly, my play on words is very strong in this book, and i apologise, but as mentioned earlier, i couldn’t simplify it further.

also, narration is intergrated fully once alexis ends up going through the hdac2 experiment (which was actually derived from a super cool article on alzheimer’s, and is absolutely fictional) as alexis forgets about her diary, ‘remember’.

oh, ‘remember’ is actually a diary of sorts to alexis, if this hasn’t been made clear :)

everything, and i say everything, in this book are symbols — or if not, representations — of something. as to what they are, however, i cannot reveal.

i also do realise that this book has a crud ton of plot holes, and i apologise again. hopefully it was still a decent read, though!

C O N C L U S I O N.

to end it off, thank you for reading it! my intention to promote attention to the rising severity of alzheimer’s fell somewhere (oops), and i realised i couldn’t salvage it so,,

please be aware of the severity of alzheimer’s! more people are suffering from this common form of dementia, and more funding is needed to study the nature of this condition. you need not raise money to be involved in its cause; spreading the word is more than sufficient :)

  thank you!

also, hats off to my people in the lgbtq+ community, who face daily discrimination and who have to bear the burdens (most) of unrequited love.

don’t worry, my friends! the perfect one for you will come someday, it’s just a matter of when :>

then, you’d no longer be a past-time, but a priority.
