Jia's POV
A week had past since Jimin and her boyfriend broke up, yet she did not seemed phased at all. She was still her loud, bubbly and sometimes obnoxious self. In fact she seemed... happier? I wondered if it was an act. Maybe she was in denial. Or maybe she was already over him. It didn't matter which it was. If she wanted to say something she will say it. She was not a hesitant person.
Jimin was quickly out of my head as the bell for first class rang.
My teacher was taking roll as people piled into the room. "Jia-yah," she smiled as I entered.
I bowed. "Good morning teach." I then scanned the room.
"Over here!" I followed the voice to see Minghao waving his long arms at me at the corner of room. He was sitting down on the floor against the big wall mirror.
I went over to sit with him. "We're not bringing out our chairs out this morning?" I asked.
Every morning we started out our classes sitting on chairs while our teacher took the roll. We then did breathing exercises while calming music was played. During this our teacher would make us think about dance. "Who drives you to be the best dancer you can be? Think about people around you that sets your passion on fire. It may be your peers in this room right now. It may be your family, mother, father, brother, sister. It could be yourself. Now think about this person and treasure them in your heart. Because people who set your passion on fire are people who love you the most." She had a different question for us everyday. But this one stuck out to me. I feel like at some point in my life I did have someone like that. Someone who inspired me and made me want to be the best dancer there was. But as time went on I had forgotten why I kept dancing. Maybe it was because my family had always been so supportive of me. They always told me I was good at it. But I couldn't help but think that there was another reason.
"I forget that you're still new sometimes." Minghao grinned. "Every year there's a whole school competition where all 3 departments are mixed up and have to come up with an act to perform. There are prizes for first, second and third for each age group and then there are extra prizes like best costumes, plots, actor and actresses, singer, and the list goes on!"
"Wow it sounds so cool," I started to get excited until I realised... "the whole school?! Our school is huge how are we all going to perform in a day? Even in groups it will take forever!"
Minghao patted my head, "you have so much to learn little one."
I pushed his hand away.
"Alright dancers," our teacher started. "Guess what time of year it is?"
"Scouting season!" Almost everyone shouted.
Teach rolled her eyes. "Come on that's not what we call it. Getting scouted is not what this is all about. Now," she took out a piece of paper and started reading off it. "This year's theme is, drum roll please!"
Everyone started to bang their hands on the floor.
"Dreams."
Oooooo's and aaaaa's echoed through the room.
"The rules are simple, most of you already know but I shall say them again." Teach continued. "Alcohol and drugs are not be used or portrayed in your acts. Any vulgar movements or references can guarantee you an instant disqualification and will not be shown on TV. It will also get you a 0 which will count for your final grade at the end of the year. Your story must portray the chosen theme, if the storyline is too out of context you will be graded lowly."
"TV?" I whispered to Minghao.
He put a finger over his lips. "I'll tell you later."
"Now, everyone head to the assembly hall and meet your teammates." Teach opened the door and everyone starts piling out.
