Jessica's POV

Mingyu loves to watch me dance. He comes to all of my performances, whether it was for a small talent show or a big school performance, he wouldn't miss any of them for the world.

I loved dance. But ever since my parents separated it became almost nothing to me. Dance used to be something I could show my family and be proud of because they were the ones that helped me find this passion. They encouraged me and believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself.

After the divorce I didn't know what to believe. Does love even exist if your own parents who made you with their skin, bones, flesh and blood can't even stay together? Is passion even real if your own parents can't show it themselves? Am I... even a good dancer?

I thought about those questions a lot until mother found someone else to marry. Then I realised yeah love exists, it's also unfair and wicked. So does passion, it's what drives you to the goal your heart desires. But what did my heart desire? It wasn't dance. I did it because it's the only thing I knew.

But now that I have Mingyu who supports me in every way that he could and tells me I'm the best just like my parents did. I fell in love with dance once again.

"You're prettiest when you're on stage." Mingyu says as we walk out of the school gates.

"I told you to stop ditching school to watch these performances." I snap at him. "Seriously it's not worth it. You're going to fall behind if you keep this up."

"Then will you catch me?" He grins putting an arm over my shoulder.

I gag and push him away.

"No wonder why I'm your first boyfriend," he scoffs.

I ignore his comment and keep walking.

"Happy 3 weeks anniversary to you too!" He utters.

Has it been 3 weeks already?

I mentally slap myself for not remembering.

"Should we go eat something delicious?" I say in my cutest voice.

Mingyu looked down at me annoyed. "Forget it." He starts walking faster, making me run-walk.

"Hey don't be like that," I say panting beside him. "Mingyu." I poke his shoulder. "Mingyu." Poke. "Mingyu." Poke. "Oppa."

He stops walking.

"What?" His eyes softened and I grin.

"You like that don't you... oppa," I say batting my eyelashes.

"Y-yah, Jessica Hong!"

I pulled him into a hug. "Are you still mad at me?"

He hugs me back. "Yeah but you're so annoying I'm always mad at you."

"What?" I tried pushing him away but he wouldn't budge.

His grip was too tight around me, I couldn't match his strength.

"Stop struggling I'm getting a call." Mingyu grabs his phone out of his pocket. "Vernon, what's up?"

They talked on the phone for the longest time before he hangs up.

"Let's go." Mingyu says grabbing my hand and pulling me across the road.

-

"Mingyu get off him! Stop it!" I yelled at the top of my voice. I tried pushing Mingyu but I couldn't budge him.

His punches weren't stopping.

I could see Vernon trying to dodge them but no matter what he did Mingyu was not backing down any time soon.

I ran into my home. Mother and John was nowhere to be found. I ran upstairs into Josh's room.

He was laying in bed reading a book but dropped it on his face when I suddenly barged in. "Jess, what's wrong?" He stands up and walks over to me.

"Mingyu is beating the life out of Vernon. Please go help him!" I started crying.

Josh panicked and ran out the door.

I followed him but he was so fast that by the time I was at the door Mingyu was sitting on the ground panting while Josh was yelling at him.

Vernon on the other hand was still on the ground with his hands on his face.

"Go home!" Josh yells at Mingyu.

Mingyu didn't hesitate for a second. He stood up, brushed the dust off his pants and left.

Josh then went over to Vernon and helped him up. He steered him into the house and onto the sofa in the living room. Josh then went into he bathroom and came back with the first aid kit.

"I'll do it." I told him taking the kit from his hand.

Josh nods. "Alright." He turns to Vernon and takes his wallet out. He hands him a $50 note. "Take an uber home and get some cream to so that cut on your cheek doesn't get infected." He then goes back upstairs.

I take Vernon to the bathroom to get his wounds cleaned and sanitised then back to the sofa again.

"Why did you do that?" I asked him as I lay the first plaster on his face.

"I knew it was wrong, but I can't help how I feel." He says monotone.

I sigh. "Vernon, kissing your best friend's girlfriend-"

"So what? Are you going to start dating me now? Are you going to dump Mingyu for me? No Jess, you're not. It doesn't change a thing whether or not I kissed you because you like Mingyu." Vernon snaps.

"It does change something. He's angry at you. How can you face him now huh? There's a possible chance you just lost your best friend."

His face softened and turned sad. "I liked you first."

"Vernon..."

"It's childish I know. But I'm hurt too. My best friend took the girl I like." Vernon stands up. "If I had the chance to do everything differently I would."
