A woman, much shorter and much older than us, greeted us kindly as we walked in the door.

"Hi! How can I help you, two?" She asked cheerfully, her bubbly personality reminding me of Avery immediately.

"My friend scheduled a dress fitting for me," I told the woman. "It should be under the name Johnson." I suggested, telling her Avery's last name.

I watched the gray haired woman sort through a rack of dresses. She shook her head slightly. "I'm sorry, I don't see that one." She said slowly. "Could it be under a different name?"

I hesitated for a moment.

"Try Dolan." My voice came out quieter than I expected.

It was crazy to think about how Avery would have Grayson's last name by the end of the summer. By next summer, they'll probably have a family together.

I could feel the tension make a reappearance between be and Gray when the woman fished for the dress, finding it and pulling it out no more than a second later. "There you are." She said kindly, handing the dress to me. "Dressing rooms are in the back, and let me know if you need anything."

I tried my best to smile at her as I mumbled thank you, but couldn't.

Grayson followed me to the back of the store, sitting down on a couch right in front of my dressing room.

I clutched the dress close to my chest. "You stay here and, um, I'll try it on, and... you can tell me how it looks."

I truly regretted every last word I said in the car. While they were all true and were things I've wanted to say for a long time, I knew now why I never actually said them - it was so awkward.

On top of that, it felt so wierd to be around Grayson after such a long time apart from him - not that we were anything near together again. I didn't know how to act around him, anymore. I felt so uncomfortable around someone who used to be my best friend and other half. It broke my heart.

Grayson nodded, refusing to meet my eyes, and with that I walked into the dressing room, pulling the curtain closed behind me.

I step into the pale pink dress, letting my eyes wander my reflection in the mirror. It's V-neck dips lower than I would expect - showing some cleavage. It hugs my waist, then flares out again, stopping inches above my knees. The length is perfect for a summer wedding - and the color brings out the hazel of my eyes.

I looked good. But doubt filled my mind when I turned around, my hand lingering on the curtain as I hesitated to open it.

I hate that I'm concerned about what Grayson is going to think when he sees me. I hate that a part of me wants him to think I look as amazing as I feel in this dress. Of course he won't, though. I'm wasting my time getting my hopes us.

Without wasting another second I rip open the curtain, my eyes glued onto Grayson - anxious for his reaction.

"Okay." I pipe up, my voice shaking.

When Grayson looks up from his phone, his look of concentration fades as his face softens. He takes his bottom lip out from between his teeth, letting his mouth gape open slightly as he looks me over.
