I take a deep breath as I look myself over in the mirror.
Despite my curled hair, makeup, and tiny white dress I don't feel amazing at all. I still have a sinking feeling in my stomach that makes me want to throw up. And no amount of makeup can hide how puffy my eyes are from crying in my room.
After minutes of debating, I convince myself to go to Avery's bachelorette despite how terrible sitting through dinner was–having to pretend like I was interested in all the answers Avery had about her and Grayson's relationship.
I stare at my reflection one last time, before dragging myself out of my hotel room to head to the party.
I walk all the way down the carpeted hallway to Avery's room. I can hear everything going on from the other side of the door before I'm even close enough to open it. I roll my eyes and knock, letting my eyes wander as I wait for someone to open the door.
As if on cue, Grayson turns the corner and enters the hallway, stopping in his tracks when he sees me.
We stand there in silence, staring at each other from opposite sides of the hallway. Even from here I can see the way his chest rises and falls as he takes a deep breath. The moment Grayson finally takes one step in my direction, the door swings open.
One of the bridesmaids answers the door. She's tall and blonde, and I can tell by the way she's using the door as support that she's a little tipsy.
She smiles at me. "Anna, right?" She slurs slightly.
I nod. "Um, yeah. That's me." I say quietly.
In one swift motion I'm grabbed by the hand and pulled into the hotel room, hearing the door slam shut behind me.
The rooms a total mess. Pillows, blankets, and sheets are all over the floor. Feathers are cascading down from the ceiling. Bottles of wine are sitting on a coffee table, and empty solo cups are all over the floor.
My ears are filled with the laughter and loud talking of the drunk bridesmaids taking up space on the couch, or spread out on the two beds in Avery's room.
It's a lot to take in. Before I have time to process any of it Avery comes out of nowhere. Her face is lit up in happiness–she's the happiest I've ever seen her.
"Anna, oh, my God, you made it!" She laughs excitedly as she rushes towards me. "You're just in time, too!"
"Just in time for what–"
"This is for you," she interrupts me, holding up a black satin robe. "I got one for all of my girls," She gushes, pushing it forward.
I was so shocked I hadn't even noticed every girl in this room was wearing one. Some girls were so drunk I had clearly noticed that some were wearing nothing underneath.
I take it from her, still taken back by what I walked into. "B-but–"
"Put it on, girl!" She encourages me, speeding behind me to push me in the direction of the bathroom. "You are going to look smoking hot, A!"
I stumble forward a bit, nearly falling over. But I grip the robe tightly, and slowly make my way to the bathroom.
I take off my dress, and let it fall to the floor without a second though. I pull the robe over my body. I take a moment to look at how great it pairs with the black laced underwear and push-up bra I decided to put on, tonight.
I turn around slightly to see my name embroidered in hot pink lettering across the back of the silk like fabric. I let my eyes wander down from my back, loving the way the material wraps around my curves and stops inches below my butt.
