"Jack just passed me in the hallway," Ethan spoke up behind me, before squeezing my shoulder. "You alright?"

I nodded slowly, staring blankly at his hotel door. "Yeah."

There was silence between us for a moment, before Ethan spoke up, again. "You... gonna go in?" He asked hesitantly.

I nodded again, feeling my hand tremble as I gripped the door handle. "Yeah."

"What're you gonna say to him?" He asked me. He sounded more curious than concerned, making me chuckle.

I'm going to tell him what I should have had the guts to say months ago–the moment I saw him again.

"That he shouldn't marry Avery."

I could hear Ethan's breathing hitch from behind me as his hand dropped from my shoulder. "Oh."

In a split second I was doubting myself. I took a step back from the door. "Maybe I shouldn't. This is so stupid," I said under my breath.

I turned around to make a run for it, but Ethan had already grabbed onto me, spinning me around to face him. "Savannah, listen to me. Stop running away because you're scared."

I scoffed. "I'm not scared."

Ethan cocked up an eyebrow. "You don't want to get hurt again, and you're terrified that you're not good enough for Grayson. You're scared, Savannah, and that's okay."

I looked away from him, and down the hallway. "What if it's too late? Avery's going to hate me, and Grayson might not even want to talk to me–"

"Stop worrying about everyone else. What do you want? What is going to make you happy?" He asked me intently, shaking me slightly.

I took a deep breath. "Being with Gray."

"Then go for it, Savannah. I love my brother more than anything in the world. And if I thought for a second you weren't good enough for him, I wouldn't be trying so hard to make this happen. You and him belong together. I'm not gonna let you two idiots be the reason you don't end up together."

"Okay, E." I smiled, hugging him tightly before he could see a tear fall from my eye. "I'm going to do it."

He pulled away. "I'll be at the midnight buffet, if you need me," He winked, before turning to walk down the hallway.

I laughed, before walking back up to Ethan's hotel door, hesitating for a moment.

I knocked three times on the door, feeling my throat tighten. "Grayson? Are you in there?"

Seconds later, the door swung open. Grayson was staring down at me. His swollen eye and dry blood on his lip making my heart break.

"Can I come in?" I squeaked.

I had totally forgot what I was wearing until I watched Grayson's eyes rake my body, faltering for a second when they landed on my chest area.

He stepped to the side, pulling the door open a little wider. I blinked a couple times, before stepping inside.

He closed the door behind me. "What are you doing here?"

"How do you feel?" I ignored his question, too busy staring at the forming bruise on his face. I hesitantly placed my hand on his cheek, feeling him flinch slightly beneath my fingertips.
